But for the record, I would like to state that I don't believe in personally insulting people for any reason. You will note I've never called anyone on this board a retard. Never told anyone to shut up. Never told them to leave or even that I don't like having them around. As a member of this board it's my obligation to make other members feel welcome and respected. If I were the alleged leader of this board this responsibility would be even more important. It's important for member retention. It's important for member recruitment. Above all else, it's important for member enjoyment. No one wants to be part of a community where they aren't respected. This thread shows a marked lack of respect, and it saddens me. It saddens me not just because I don't like to see people disrespected but because I know that many on this board are afraid to stand up for themselves for fear of being banned. It saddens me because people, by all reports, have been putting up with this for years. This isn't about whether Ceel knows how to use the administrative functions. This isn't about whether some members get along with him just fine. Even I've never had huge personal clashes with him. This isn't about me hating Ceel. This is about me watching other people get treated like crap, and disliking it. This is about me watching people be called retards, fuckwits, assholes, dumbasses, and other juvenile slurs. This is about me wanting people to be treated with basic human courtesy. If that makes me offensively "headstrong," as Kyp put it, so be it. I'm not really gunning to be banned here, but.... Well, if these feelings are a ban-worthy offense in themselves, I can imagine no better reason to be banned. At least I'll know that I handled this silly mess with grace and courtesy. The community deserves that much, and my only hope is that someday they'll realize it.

With that said, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, and those that take great delight in stabbing people in the back, trash talking and bad mouthing others behind their backs and down right insidiously disruptive people are not the type that I like associating with, and its a shame if they have managed to snake their way onto a community that is geared towards telling stories with friends. Exactly who the culprits are, I do not know. Ceel has a list there, and only a few on it I have ever talked to; Savin seems like a guy thats out for fairness rather than revenge, and I respect that, while Alema is a player that Ive gotten along with fine and has done anything other than made me laugh and helped me out with a few - though unfortunately fruitless - character concept for future alts. Bill Ive talked to plenty on AIM, and he has seemed like a guy with an opinion and vision and who sticks to it, for better or worse - with that in mind, I dont know his dealings with other players, nor do I have transcripts of his conversations. So maybe I could be missing something shrugs. I wish I could add something more constructive, but I cant, edit: not with the pittance that I know. I've had, what you could call, 'middle men' telling me that I'm hated and people are afraid to come and talk to me. That is where this kind of trouble is arising. You need to go and talk 1 on 1, not in AIM chat, 'cause then you get all the oldies against you. And in total honesty, I did not like Spark nor Kass from those events. I'm still not fond of them, am I happy to see them leaving? Not at all. They are members of this community as much as I am. And now, because Spark is Ceel's best buddy, everyone is getting yelled at like she's special because she has been around longer. Well sure, a certain level is gained by being around longer, but that doesn't mean she is more important than other members of this community. What is going on here is stupid. If it will help this situation, I openly apologize to both Kass, Spark and the rest of Staff. I know I have voiced complaints about them with others. Is that right? I know it isn't, is it human nature? Absolutely. And there isn't a person out there who can say they have not done it themselves. Am I guilty of being a cog in Spark's and Kass' and this whole thing, absolutely. TGC, I hope you accept an apologize to the community as a whole.

Ceel, I know you are very angry about the leaving of Spark and Kass, but I hope that this anger will not blind the judgement here. Savin did not do anything to cause them to leave isn't it? He has a different view and he just voices out in this thread. So I don't get it why he is put on a list of "stupid people" just for voicing out his opinion. As for Alema, I think she is fine as well. That said, I have no idea why Kass and Spark left. I only wish that they come back somehow.

It has been said multiple times that this is a game, and it is. But it is also much more than that. It is a community of friends who, though most have never met, can meet online EVERY SINGLE DAY to talk about their lives and (almost) everything that has happened to them. From music to movies to books and even health and physical fitness, this board is a thriving community of close friends that mean a lot to everyone involved. And to all of you who think that because this is just the internet, you can say whatever the hell you want because you've never met the person and they can always just ignore you, bullshit. Words are words, whether they're typed or spoken. Honestly, is it that hard to be a decent human being? For example, I'll even use myself. Over the past year and a half, politics has become one of my passions. As such, I've brought that aspect of my personality to TGC. I've had full on caps lock huge font yelling matches with people such as Mak Manto, Mikel Marzullo, and Raine Marzullo. But as soon as the debate is finished, we're right back to high fives and other random acts of awesomeness. I can see how people might get all bent out of shape over people who are permanently banned here like Exar Ganis and Recon Klain. But Spark and Kass? What the hell did they ever do? Between them, contributed more to this community than anyone else beside perhaps Ceel, Danster, and Bane. (My apologies to those of you who are also highly influential but not mentioned. You know who you are and I have the utmost respect for you). I myself was on staff once, because I applied for the position and was highly active at the time. However, as soon as I went on an indefinite LOA, I was removed from staff. Did I bitch and moan? Hell no. Ceel needs active staff members who are able to dedicate some time every day to this community. So don't you DARE insult the staff members when they have done nothing other than hold the position you so desire. And if your deepest desire is to hold a staff position on an online forum (except for you, Kypster. ), then you need to take a break and rethink your life. All of the staff members here are extremely capable and do a @#%$ fine job. They deserve your thanks, not your scorn. And one last thing. Get the @#%$ off of Ceel's back. I've roleplayed with him, discussed all different kinds of media with him, et cetera, and he's always been a mature intellectual capable of having a decent conversation with. But if you're a hardheaded ass to him, he's gonna be one right back because that's all you're capable of understanding. Instead, trying lowering your @#%$ guard and try being nice to people. You might find that we're the most lovable bunch of nerds on the interwebs. Or not. Either way. Also, just wanted to note that the term "you" is used to refer to the fucktards who are causing the trouble.

And yes, I'm of the opinion that swearing and insulting people will not solve a problem. That said, however. Very, very few people have ever spoken up to me when they have a problem with me. And I have taken what they said to heart, and tried to make those little changes where possible. If the moral of the story here is to not back-stab another, then allow me to add something: If you do have a problem with somebody, then take it up with them privately in a mature fashion, and chances are that things will resolve nicely. Allow me to use a very current example; I spoke with Myrkrull only hours ago, and while it started as having veiled insults thrown around, I put my foot down and called time out, asked him to discuss it in a mature fashion with me, and we came to an agreement that benefited both parties. The system works, should you give it a chance. I'm not going to say that I haven't said stuff about people behind their back. I have. It's a shameful thing to do, and yes, I do feel bad about it. What I have said to most people, I did go on to reiterate to their face afterwards, or apologized for further transgressions even if it really didn't warrant it. This does include what I said to Spark a short while ago, even though that situation didn't quite go so well - but, that's not the topic here. Really, I've said my piece. Hate me all you like; that's your right. Though, I just ask that if you have a problem with me, deal with it in the way I just described. Proving that you can act with civility and maturity will get you a long way, both online and in the real world. Perhaps we must all take a step back and remember this.

Like I said before, though, right now, yes what we're doing is productive, and letting our feelings out, but I think TGC, as a whole community, should be discussing how to prevent this from happening in the future. How are we going to stop back stabbers that made both Spark and Kass leave from backstabbing again? Do you really think they are going to read this whole thread? Maybe. Maybe not. I really think we are discussing the wrong thing. The past is the past. I'm sure Spark wouldn't want us just arguing who hurt her. If she really wanted them punished, she would have told us. Again, I just really think we should be concentrating on the future and not the past. Also, what is this arguing truly doing? Getting people mad? Yeah. Getting people frustrated? Yeah. Solving what happened to Sparky? No. Solving the entire flaming/backstabbing/gossiping? No, not that I can see. How is TGC going to fix this problem it obviously has a flamers for the future? Bane, Spark and Kass: Never, ever, have I seen them upset people outside of discussions, except for the few times that Spark or Kass have had to ban people from factions. And even then they've generally been civil. I cannot name an incident when I've been particularly against either, even though the thing on TJC with me recently was ridiculous. Seriously though, where do these idiots come from who don't like them? The only times they ever get annoyed is when people are being retarded, GMing or just being an idiot in general. It's a shame. Wickim, Mikel Shanshu and a few others have been here longer than Kass or Spark. It really doesn't help things to just complain about people behind thier backs and not at least make your feelings publicly known to them. I mean don't get me wrong, I've had my fair share of arguments with just about everyone in staff. But at least I've taken it up with them in a calmly, or if not that, then privately. I remember waay back when I had first joined this board, Ceel had pissed me off. I sent him a PM that was like three pages long of a rant, but at least it was a polite and well spaced one . Korran and I are usually going at it about one thing or another, but we settle our differences calmly and without too much yelling, hehe . We had a big problem between the two of us about half a year ago but we settled it and no one else was involved. It was between the two of us, and it was settled with the two of us. If Korran and I can work out our differences, surely some of the others here on this board can too. If you've got something to say, even if you're pissed off, then send it in a pm. Think about what you're going to say before you say it. while writing on the internet can be a bit different, more times then most you'll end up saying something you don't mean if you're angry. Take a few seconds, collect your thoughts, and calmly say what you need to, to the person that's causing a problem. We've all had problems with someone on the board, and those that have worked through it politely and calmly have usually come to better know and trust the person they were upset with. With that said, I need to get more active as a staffer, no one talks about me behind my back .
