I've been on a board where much the same thing happened to a friend of mine on staff. She got sick of the unfounded sh*t as well. My heart goes out to Spark for that.
The thing I think a great many forget is that staff is -not- paid for this. This is -not- their paying job. This is -supposed- to be a labor of love. Something one dose for the spirit of the action and because they -enjoy- it. It is no more the players right to badger and cajole the staff as it is for the staff. Whatever the gripe. I just wish everyone would not so easily justify being disrespectful to one another. I just can't see the reason. Maybe, I'm just naive
While I have not gotten to talk much with her nor had the honor of RPing with her, as far as I have heard, Spark has worked tirelessly as staff and the few times she and I spoke, she was -nothing- but honorable in her dealings with me. She did not deserve two months of that garbage.

Let me state to you how bad this entire situation is. People from random forums have heard about it just because it was a great thread to come laugh at. That's how bad this entire stunt is.
However, as considering his tactics included naming accused but not the people making the accusations besides himself and possibly the person who decided to leave... I decided to have fun. When I get bored, I go /b/tard. Speaking of /b/...

I've got something to add, but it's only nice to those who have been put on the list of stupid people.
Staff, even if they are doing it for "free" (the position of power and authority over others is a sort of payment), have two duties to uphold. The first is the duty to get the job done, in the form of performing the responsibilities they have been given. This is an obvious duty, but the second one is often forgotten. The second duty is to be civilized, professional, and make sure that the administration of the board seem level-headed and amiable. I heard about this thread in an odd sort of way and came by here to laugh, but it struck me that it wasn't very fair. That is, what the founder seems to be doing to others on the site for arguing against his actions. If anything, a site owner *should* be open to commentary both pro and con to his actions. He has done nothing to argue back except to put people on a list, and to say that it was done as some sort of mockery.
The strange thing is, it doesn't show any signs of mockery. The initial post seems very authentic to me simply based on how he's acted in the latter part of the thread as well, and it seems safe to say that he's lying to an extent about the purpose of the thread. He really meant what he said, but now he's trying to cover his tracks. By doing so, anyone who continues to argue against him looks like the bad guy, and he's safe.
Then again, I'm talking as if this is a democracy. In reality, it's not. Wouldn't that be a nice idea, a place for RP'ing being based on ideals of freedom?

As reluctant as I am to respond to this, I'd have to agree with Tao on multiple points.
...and responding 'yawn' to a somewhat-logical arguement is rather, er...odd.
Yeah, I know, I'm probably going to be put on the @#%$ list for this whole thing, but by creating this thread, didn't the situation and problem get blown way out of proportion? Isn't this thread creating more of a problem then what was origionally presented?

You might as well add me to the list too, Ceel. I back Savin one hundred percent. Alema at the very least has been nothing but polite and trying to be helpful. I don't know about the others and what they did, but none of them deserve to be publicly humiliated. There is absolutely no reason this couldn't have been private. Doing it in public seems to me to be some kind of power trip. Yes, Spark left. Its sad. Should people be punished? Yes. In this manner? No. It is wrong, horrible, and despicable. It is not like Alema, and most likely the others, were trying to deliberately destroy TGC and Spark's emotions. They were trying to help. Were they one-hundred percent correct? Probably not. But neither is anyone else. Doing this as a Public proceeding was just wrong. Hell, treating them like this was wrong. They are people. Could you imagine someone treating you like this for every mistake you made? Or your family? Or friends? It would tear them up inside. They are not some toy, some virtual program you can just abuse at will. They have legitimate thoughts...and feelings that deserve to be respected.

Far from it, as the fact that it's still here after 10 years is, in short, incredible. Certainly hats off to you for that. My question was in how you address people and how your treat them. I am also surprised about Alema. She may be headstrong, but I doubt that whatever happened was any more than a clash of strong-willed individuals. And placing Savin on the list is perhaps slightly strange as well, since he hasn't really done anything at all wrong since joining, as far as I'm aware? He's also competent and mature.
But the list isn't a list of those banned or anything, so it's just a public humiliation of the others, in a way. Lol.
