Besyanteo: Heya
Lithaladhwen: Hi!
Besyanteo: Feeling better today? :o
Lithaladhwen: Still a little tired, but I'm looking
forward to RP stuff tonight.
Besyanteo: *nod*
Besyanteo: I got Sage to tell me some thigns about
the module he ran us through last night.
Besyanteo: We weren't prepared, but we were more
prepared than I first esdtimated.
Lithaladhwen: Hot shit. If that was a module....
that totally breaks my whole notion of reality.
Besyanteo: Heh.
Lithaladhwen: First even vaguely engaging
module I've ever encountered.
Besyanteo: I dislike the ending, though
Besyanteo: "Ok, so, good aligned characters can't
win. =D"
Lithaladhwen: I don't like how it ended last
night. I think we can do better.
Lithaladhwen: I believe wholeheartedly in our
ability to completely counter-fuck Sage.
Besyanteo: I'm working on a new character right now.
There are things about HAku's abckstory that I should
have told Sage before he let me jump in
Lithaladhwen: I love Haku.
Besyanteo: Oh, ditto.
Lithaladhwen: Having him there was the best
part of the RP.
Besyanteo: I'm not sure how useable he's going to
be for a while. I was wondering when you wanted to
do the bit where Zea goes to talk to him
Besyanteo: He's not going to fall from divinty or
anything, but he's going to be mightily depressed as
it is
Lithaladhwen: Pretty soon here would be totally
fine.
Lithaladhwen: Zea's a priestess. She's good with
the wisdom and stuff.
Lithaladhwen: *nodnod*
Lithaladhwen: So he'll either feel better or be
totally horrified with her at the end.
Besyanteo: I'mgood togo if you are. Also: Ha ha ha
Lithaladhwen: Yeah, give me just a moment.
Besyanteo: Sure
Lithaladhwen: (Okay. I am so with you now.)
Lithaladhwen: (I was posting to a thing.)
Besyanteo: (Ahhh.)
Besyanteo: *It's been a night and part of a day since
they left Twin Oaks. Haku hasn't come out of his room
at the manor since.*
Lithaladhwen: *There's a little knock on the
door.*
Besyanteo: *After a moment* Come in.
Lithaladhwen: *A blue-haired young woman
pokes her head in.* Haku?
Besyanteo: *hw looka over. He looks about the same
as he did the other day, but his shoulder is
bandages. And his eyes are red* Oh. Hey Zea.
Besyanteo: *He composes himself a little* Uhm...
What is it?
Lithaladhwen: Um. *closes the door behind her*
I just wanted to check and see how you were
doing.
Besyanteo: ... Heh. ... Not very well, I don't think.
Besyanteo: I guess a "mercenary" should be able to
walk away from a place like that and be okay, huh?
Lithaladhwen: Depends on the mercenary.
Believe it or not there are things even I won't
do.
Lithaladhwen: Mind if I sit?
Besyanteo: Sure.
Lithaladhwen: *sits cross-legged on the floor*
Lithaladhwen: *Yes she's wearing pants under
her robes. Great mystery solved.*
Besyanteo: (... fuck, brb
Besyanteo: )*
Lithaladhwen: ('kay.)
Besyanteo: (back)
Lithaladhwen: (What happened?)
Besyanteo: (Kristen is on the phone with a mutual
friend. She wanted me to go with them to the house
ofthis other girl I don't know and hang out. Though all
she told methrough the door was "come here")
Besyanteo: (Anyway, I already have plans for tonight)
Lithaladhwen: (Ah. Okay. I was just curious
whether something had exploded. Anyway!)
Lithaladhwen: So what's getting to you about
yesterday?
Besyanteo: ... It's... I guess it's a little complicated.
But I can explain it.
Besyanteo: I'm the son of a gnoll man and a celestial
woman... That much is pretty obvious. Dad was from
a tribe of reformationists, who want to live in peace
with other intelligent races. Kind ofthe Gnoll good
guys.
Lithaladhwen: *nod*
Besyanteo: They met and fell in love while Mom was
on some holy quest to defeat some evil inthe land... I
hardly remember now. ... Dad died when I was little.
He was killed by some humans who mistook him for
the scout of a gnoll raiding party, when he was
entering Pol, tothe north...
Besyanteo: ... Mom did her best ot use it to inspire
me. I've alwasy felt that I could help prove people
were wrong about us, and that I needed to... sothat
wouldn't happen again, you know?
Besyanteo: ... Anyway. There's one big thing that
separates out my Dad's tribe, and most ofthe others.
Besyanteo: We share similar traditions and religous
rites... But they look at other sentient races, and they
see sacks of meat, waiting to be plucked. Put on the
planetby the gods for us to use.
Besyanteo: ... And we get to Twin Oaks...
Besyanteo: *he clenches his fists and shuts his
eyes*
Lithaladhwen: *nods*
Besyanteo: Does it matter if we rescue them, Zea?
They're soready to lay down and make themselves
just that. ...
Besyanteo: Why should I bother trying to be this if
people don't ahve the will to NOT be what the tribes
say they are?
Besyanteo: Stupid cattle... >_<
Lithaladhwen: They're just scared, I think. Death
is... frightening, for a lot... a lot of people. And
anything that keeps them from facing it.....
Lithaladhwen: Well, they prefer it. *shrug*
Besyanteo: *he takes his forehead in his hand, and
sighs*
Besyanteo: (... Shaun is like, slowly torturing Dan)
Besyanteo: (poking holes in his plans for Vamprie
assault)
Besyanteo: (also, food)
Lithaladhwen: ('kay.)
Besyanteo: (back as soon as I can be)
Lithaladhwen: (Okay!)
Besyanteo: (Got out of it for now. Whee.)
Lithaladhwen: (Got out of food?)
Lithaladhwen: (Were they making Bes pie?)
Besyanteo: (Heh. No, but they might consider it one
of these times.)
Besyanteo: (My parents had made something., and
they like to have family dinner. I try not to miss it too
often, but tonight i will)
Besyanteo: ... I just can't understand it. ... Waht kind
of life are they giving their children?
Besyanteo: Constantly in fear, until one daythey're
picked... and they go alone to feed the vampire, so
that they can "save the others".
Besyanteo: That's not life...
Lithaladhwen: It's the best they can do for now.
Lithaladhwen: *sigh*
Lithaladhwen: I'm not saying they're right. I
don't think they are. But this isn't a problem
they can solve themselves. They're too caught
up in keeping as many people alive as they can
in the short term.
Lithaladhwen: There's a reason I want to go back
and do something once we've had a chance to
regroup. I wasn't willing to just leave them
either, but....
Lithaladhwen: We can go back. And we can go
back prepared.
Besyanteo: ... I don't think I can, Zea. ... That's the
other thing that's really eatting at me inside. I can
whine about how they aren't doing anything all I like...
Besyanteo: But what good was I there?
Lithaladhwen: What good were you? You found
someone we could press for information. I
remember you handing around some minor
healing which I can't do... but what mattered
most to me was that you were there and you
were being level-headed about it.
Lithaladhwen: Can you imagine if I'd been alone
there with Alistair and Erik?
Lithaladhwen: Oh, and the bird.
Lithaladhwen: Gods, Haku. It would've been
terrible.
Besyanteo: ... *he smirks in spite of himnself*
Lithaladhwen: I needed someone there I could
rely on, who wasn't busy playing grabass with
a couple of cute girls.
Besyanteo: ...
Besyanteo: They hit on the girls, knowing they were
geased... or dominated?
Lithaladhwen: *raises her hands helplessly*
Lithaladhwen: I can't even begin to speculate.
Besyanteo: ... *he rubs his forehead* ... I... Gods.
Besyanteo: ... Alright. I'd go back with you.
Besyanteo: ... Does Orin know about any of this yet?
Lithaladhwen: I don't know. I haven't sent word
to him yet. I think Alistair's lost his stomach
for extorting more money out of the guy at
this point.
Lithaladhwen: So I doubt he's contacted him
either.
Besyanteo: *he nods*
Lithaladhwen: I think I'm going to ask some
people to go back. For one, I want Thenswick
there. Say what you will about the guy, but if
he even halfway knows his shit, he'll be able
to help us.
Besyanteo: (Thenswick?)
Besyanteo: (unfamiliar name)
Lithaladhwen: (Elaith Thenswick.)
Besyanteo: (Ah)
Besyanteo: ... I barely know him. *he shrugs*
Besyanteo: ... Aramis is a recent applicant to this
place. But I saw him spar inthe yard. He's very good.
Lithaladhwen: *nods*
Lithaladhwen: Alistair will probably want to go
back. I don't know about Erik.
Lithaladhwen: I'll see if I can find Tolaris. From
my talks with his grandfather, I think they
might be able to help.
Besyanteo: *nod*
Lithaladhwen: For what it's worth, Haku. No
matter what you saw me do back there... no
matter what my real specialty is... I don't just
use people for raw materials. I don't much like
seeing other people do it, either.
Lithaladhwen: I know what it's like to be in a
...different philosophical position than most of
the people you know. Lot of necromancers I
work with are... well, they're kind of crazy.
Lithaladhwen: And they treat people in ways
that I don't.
Lithaladhwen: It's one reason I try to keep it
quiet that I do what I do. People... jump to
conclusions. But... if it'll help us get rid of this
damn vampire...
Lithaladhwen: I'll bring whatever I've got to
bear on him, and we'll have to hope it's
enough.
Lithaladhwen: IM: And deal with the
consequences later...
Besyanteo: *he nods*
Besyanteo: ... It's... Not something I would have
expected a week ago, but... I do trust you.
Besyanteo: (zomg font?)
Besyanteo: I just hope we never have to interogate
someone that way again. >_>;
Lithaladhwen: I apologize that you had to see
that.
Lithaladhwen: I couldn't think of any other way.
Besyanteo: ... *quietly* Neither could I.
Besyanteo: ... I'll be ok. *he turns away*
Besyanteo: I just need a little more time.
Lithaladhwen: Okay. *nods* That's fine. I'm
living in town for now. Come find me if you
need anything. I'm going to go back and... pull
some things together.
Besyanteo: *he nods* Right... Thanks. I'll keep that in
mind.
Lithaladhwen: I'll see you when we head out.
Take care of yourself.
Lithaladhwen: *heads to the door, and turns to
tell him over her shoulder* We'll get him,
Haku.
Besyanteo: Yeah...
Besyanteo: I know that much will happen, atleast.
Lithaladhwen: *nod* See you around. *leaves
and closes the door behind her*
Besyanteo: </ARPEE>
Lithaladhwen: Oh, yeah. That is my font now.
Heh.
Besyanteo: Heh.
Lithaladhwen: Brian gets home from work at
eight, and after that with luck... Zea will be
able to drag Elaith into this.
Lithaladhwen: I want to see him try and rebuke
the vampire.
Besyanteo: Ha!
Besyanteo: ... He probably can, with any kind of
decent roll
Besyanteo: I'd tell you it's CR, but that feels a little
off for me to do.
Lithaladhwen: Brian's thinking that he has a
decent shot.
Lithaladhwen: If Elaith succeeds Zea will laugh
until she cries and probably buy Elaith a
drink.
Besyanteo: Heh.
Besyanteo: I suspect, then, that you should have her
prepare a few coppers for just that.
Besyanteo: ... also, onyl slightly related:
Lithaladhwen: She has silly amounts of spare
money. I'm so bad about buying equipment.
She can buy him anything he wants.
Besyanteo: The cleric is, so far, an undead killing
machine.
Besyanteo: It has more turning boosts than I can
recall easily, can turn two turns into a destroy, and
turn as a free action.
Lithaladhwen: Goodness gracious.
Besyanteo: ... and turn Turn attempts into Maximized
Healing.
Besyanteo: Because that amused me and Doug
Lithaladhwen: What patron deity?
Besyanteo: I'm thinking Oros
Lithaladhwen: *nod*
Besyanteo: Fits well withthe Disciple of the Sun feat
Lithaladhwen: Yeah. And it'd be interesting to
force someone like that to work with Zea and
Elaith.
Besyanteo: Fu nfact: None of this requires you to
share your Deities' exact alignment. She can be
Nuetral rather than Lawful, and still fit in with them so
longas they do nothing overtly evil
Besyanteo: ... Not sure how that should work for
Haku; Celestials AHVE to keep a good alignment.
Besyanteo: Not sure what happens if they let it shift.
Lithaladhwen: He's not a full celestial. He's
effectively mortal. If I were the GM I would
rule that a half-celestial can't fall.
Lithaladhwen: It's like how Darin isn't himself
an angel of justice just because Christopher is
his father.
Besyanteo: *nod*
Besyanteo: That helps me with running him in the
future, then.
Lithaladhwen: He does have perfectly legitimate
reasons to be bothered by all this, though. Zea
deals with a lesser version of the sort of
prejudice his family would have dealt with.
Lithaladhwen: Most people say, "Oh,
necromancer. Harbinger of eeeeevil."
Besyanteo: *nod*
Lithaladhwen: It's one reason she's actually got a
little more sympathy for him at this point,
because while she can hide her weirdness to a
certain extent, people can tell his just by
looking.
Besyanteo: I hadn't even considered that when I had
him tel her that. Heh
Lithaladhwen: I need to have her tweak her
prepared spells for this. She's only a 9th level
cleric, but she's got her shadows, too.
Lithaladhwen: She should be okay.
Besyanteo: *nod*
Besyanteo: What's her other level?
Lithaladhwen: She lost a caster level when she
took the Master of Shrouds PrC. That's the
class that lets her summon those shadows
several times a day.
Lithaladhwen: If it weren't daytime she could
have summoned a wraith instead of those two
shadows.
Besyanteo: *nod*
Besyanteo: ... oh, get this
Besyanteo: Dan's most recent plan for the vampire:
Besyanteo: "We'll get a team of archers with special
arrows! The WOODEN KIND!"
Lithaladhwen: Yeah. I heard about that from
Shaun. *sigh*
Lithaladhwen: DO YOU SEE NOW WHY ZEA
WANTS A NECROMANCER THERE??!
Lithaladhwen: Gods.
Besyanteo: Hee.
Lithaladhwen: Damn laymen with their plans.
Besyanteo: ... You know, if he dies,
Besyanteo: is there some kind of sentient undead he
could be ressurected as for shits and giggles?
Lithaladhwen: He could be embraced by a
vampire or vampire spawn, I think. But that's
not something Zea can do, and Elaith probably
can't bring his agent with him.
Besyanteo: Heh
Besyanteo: Belatedly: I was tempted to give Hakuthe
LEadership feat when I made hi,.
Besyanteo: Held off because I figured this "13 person
rp" would be insane enough for spleen as it was
Besyanteo: =P
Lithaladhwen: *laugh*
Besyanteo: Haku could totally use a level 8
something or other about now. ... Although having a
bunch of followers might not be beneficial to joining a
mercenary troupe
