Re: Wounded, Helpless, and Vulnerable(Open)
Alema wasn't getting a response back from Marcus about the request for aid, but the rest of the crew was pretty active on the comm and didn't seem too perturbed about their situation. If she'd received word that they needed reinforcements she'd have gotten them anything she could, including a nearby mercenary. At this point though... that didn't seem to be the case.
In fact... from what she could discern the Iron Ferrets were pretty damned pleased with their performance and seemed to be coming back.
"That is a negative so far, Colbs," Alema replied. "No authorization to employ you at this time. Revenge out."
Alema took a deep breath and shrugged. Whatever. If he actually cared he'd actually help. But... he doesn't so he isn't and we apparently don't need him.
She opened a channel to the Iron Ferrets. "Thanks for clearing us out. You heading in with the raiding party or are you going to hold off for now? Over."Edited by: Alema Nilim at: 7/9/07 7:53 pm
Re: Wounded, Helpless, and Vulnerable(Open)
Now it was Colbs turn to sigh.
"All right CF, thanks so far, by the way if I were to just stop in, where would be the conveinent place to attack.??"
It wasnt that he didnt care, he cared alot. He needed the money. After all he was merc. His heart was where the money was. Right now the money was on that ship and not in his pocket. In after thought though, He repected and admired Captain Marcus, even if hed only met him a few times.

"Gavin, I love your enthusiasm... but we want to be able to use this ship in the future," she said with a wink.
"The bomb might be a tad over kill...the control panel is an easy fix."
She moved over to help him lever the door open..... which then wouldn't open past the requesite six inches he'd needed. It only took a moment of struggle, first from Saede then from Rok before the first mate cursed in huttese.

Re: Wounded, Helpless, and Vulnerable(Open)"Alright, frak it. Gavin, blow the sucker."
After the first mate said this, Gavin got a wicked grin on his face. Now that the door was open just enough to fit the bomb, all there was to do was set it up.
The process of settting the bomb up would be quick, it took only three steps. Step one was to set the bomb where you wanted it. Step two was to set the timer on it for 10 seconds, 20 seconds, or 30 seconds. The last step was to get the frak out of the blast area, which was (in this case) about 10 feet. Most of the power from the bomb would be trapped between the doors, forcing them open.
Gavin did finished setting the timer for 30 seconds, and turned to the rest of the group.
"Unless you want to get blown up, move back!"
With that, he pressed the activation button as the bomb started it's countdown. Gavin stood, turned and ran away from the soon to be destroyed door.

"Copy that IF 1 and thanks. IF 4 docking and coming home." As she twirled her defender towards the Revenge, then passing through the hangar. Today she'd have to go to the on-ship bar and celebrate with a bottle of liquor.
Before Inson could reply to the Twi'lek's question, they were interrupted by chatter from the comm, one particularly odd mercenary, Captain Colbs, was attempting to take advantage of their plight and pander his services. Apparently, Alema turned him down. Keeping quiet, Inson simply nodded when she asked him if he knew Colbs, with the truth being closer to the fact that he knew of Colbs, but not much beyond the name. The cabin boy decided he would let their deal finish before he moved on with his own talk.
Occupying himself by pacing, the youth found himself whirling his custom blaster pistol quite expertly, before turning to the Twi'lek.
"...I've only hear of Colbs in name, but I wouldn't trust him...He's too...Opportunitistic; I, on the other hand, would never betray my comrades in such bounty hunting dealings, but that's not important, just how my standards compare to his." he tossed one of the blasters in the air, turned around, and caught the pistol after passing the other pistol to the hand that had just thrown the other.
"Now, as for you; they don't say much, just that you stared down a crack Imperial operative, and would rather have taken a shot to the chest from, what is reportedly an Imperial guard, then give up information. That takes guts, and is deserving of respect....Some say it's not true, especially the guard part, but hell, I believe it."

As she rounded a corner back aboard the Jedi ship, the dancer squeaked as Gavin nearly bowled her over. Serrena spun on her heel and stepped out of the way as quickly as she could, which was considerable, given her agility. A moment later, her unspoken question was answered as an explosion rocked the hallway.
Crimson eyes peered around the corner, eyeing the now wide-open doorway. "Niiiice....my kind of guy, Gavin!" Serrena laughed, stepping over the durasteel shards and bits of wire carefully. Noting Saede and Rok nearby, she winked at them both.
"Shall we?"
Re: Wounded, Helpless, and Vulnerable(Open)
Alema's mouth dropped open and she stammered a few hesitant vowel noises. "Ah... I, uh-- I-- um..." She couldn't deny the truth of it. Not precisely. It was just...
"That... makes it sound a whole heck of a lot more heroic than it actually was," she replied slowly. "I... well, it wasn't just to protect information."
Truth was she'd been scared. Scared of being found, scared of being captured and tortured nearly to death before eventually being executed once the Imperials had what they wanted. She hadn't seen any way she could walk away from that battle, and because she knew she couldn't expect mercy from a Crimson Guardsman she'd done all she could to take control of the situation.
"The reality is... he'd have gotten me no matter what I did. I'm no match for someone like that. If he had his way, he'd take me alive and torture out of me whatever he wanted to know." She gave a single dry little laugh. "Heh. Guess I just wanted to force his hand, make it quick whether he planned for it to be or not. Almost worked too, but a couple of allies showed up unexpectedly to bail me out," she noted with a shrug. "Sorry to spoil the tales of my heroics."

Re: Wounded, Helpless, and Vulnerable(Open)"Let's head in, Eight. I think I owe you a kiss, right?"
Nate thought that's what Devorah had said. He owed her a kiss for her double-kill for debut flight. He chuckled, picturing her coppery skin darkening and whether that was with annoyance or pleasure... he would've put money on the former. But, she had said it!
Chuckling, he turned his TIE toward the Revenge and the hangar bay. Nathaniel commed ahead to Alema to make sure she and the crew, overall, knew that three friendly TIEs were on their way back home.

Re: Wounded, Helpless, and Vulnerable(Open)"@#%$ right you do, One..." Devorah purred over her comm, smiling wickedly to herself. She was going to leave him stumbling and speechless, and nothing else would do.
With a bit of a twist to the control yoke, she sent her TIE defender into a spin as it entered the hanger bay. With a flick of her wrist at the last second, the TIE smoothly stopped rolling and eased backwards towards the suspension gear. As soon as it was secure, Devorah powered down the ship, careful to complete the post-flight cheklist in the right order.
The hatch lifted and she gracefully hopped out, landing lightly on her feet. The black fabric of her flightsuit was just a little snug in all the right spots, and her fingers smoothed it out as she walked down the nearby stairs to wait beside Nathaniel's spot.
Arms crossed over her chest, Devorah raised an eyebrow and waited, a wicked smile on her lips.

Nathaniel cursed himself, wondering why he'd bothered to remind Devorah of that challenge now. She made him excited and nervous and annoyed all at once! He took his sweet time in powering down his TIE and running the post-flight. Afterward, he'd have to check the hull itself for any debris damage.
But first, he had to deal with Devorah.
Popping the hatch, Nathaniel stuck his head out, dark hair looking wild from tugging on it during flight. He gulped, seeing that Devorah was waiting for him. Why? he wondered.
"So... hey. Nice flying, Dev."
Conscious of her watching him, he crawled out of his TIE and onto the catwalk. It seemed that Ava had already headed off to celebrate, leaving them alone.

As the smoke cleared, Saede stood slowly, a nearly manic grin on her face.
"Nicely done Gavin," she said, clapping him on the back. Though she didn't return Serrena's wink, she did nod at the Dancer. Saede tried to not make a habit of flirting with her crew.... even Serrena. Scratch that, she ammended. *Especially* Serrena!
The redhead strode foreward as though without a care in the word. As though this were a routine event.... and in some ways for the pirate it was. Nonchalantly she reached down to her thigh holster, drawing what appeared to be a highly modified (and highly illegal) heavy blaster pistol just as she stepped through the shattered door.
Flanked by Serrena and Gavin, her grin widened as she turned half way, putting a single heavy bolt into the security camera feed. As though she'd known just where it would be. In truth, Alema's schematic had shown it, and while Saede wasn't psychic, her memory was *superb*.
"Everyone on the floor," she said pleasantly to the command crew, gesturing the blaster at them. "Hand on the back of your heads."

"Thanks, Nate...now...about that bet..." Devorah purred, arching an eyebrow and deliberately glancing around them. With Ava gods-only-knew where, they seemed to be alone for the moment.
Her eyes were darkened, flashing almost as if the copper threads were sparking. Her copper-hued skin had deepened with the adrenaline of her first live-enemy encounter, seemingly shimmering with energy. Devorah smiled as she stepped forward towards him and lifted her hands, delicately cupping his face.
"Brace yourself..." she whispered softly, brushing her lips against his lightly.

Re: Wounded, Helpless, and Vulnerable(Open)"You don't--"
--have to, he was about to say, but then Devorah's lips brushed against Nate's and his body went rigid with surprise and a fleeting touch of desire.
It was over too quickly. Way too quickly. Nathaniel blushed at realizing those were his own thoughts! He gazed at her, curiously, daring her. Daring himself.
"Didn't you... get two double kills?" he asked, his crimson eyes flashing. "I... offered a second kiss..."
First time you two have been almost civil... That made him blush too.

Devorah blinked as she tilted her head back, gazing at him, with more than a touch of surprise writ across her features. I...I think I actually liked that...she thought to herself, troubled and pleased all at one with the realization. It took her a moment to realize he'd spoken to her, and several moments longer until her mind wrapped itself around the right combination of words.
"I... offered a second kiss..."
"I'd almost forgotten..."
...like hell you'd have forgotten...her inner voice prompted tartly. Devorah found herself purring as she leaned forward and kissed him again, letting her lips linger on his a bit longer this time around.

A bolt of desire ran through him for certain with the second kiss even as chaste as it was. Nathaniel's hands flapped at his sides before he reached out and set them on Devorah's shoulders.
Oh gods... was all he could think.
When they broke apart the second time, his crimson eyes glowed brightly, his expression mingled between surprise and building lust. Nate licked his lips, staring dazedly at Devorah.
"I... think that should be our regular bet when we fly," he managed, smiling.

She bit her lip and took a half step back, a little mystified at her stronger reaction. Gods, she wanted to hate him...but that had just gotten a little bit harder. Royal pain or not, something about Nathaniel drove her crazy - in a strangely good way for the first time.
The young woman shook her head slightly, making the gesture as imperceptible as she could manage. A burnished copper highlight came loose from her ponytail, brushing across her cheek annoyingly. Devorah managed to find her voice again, planting her normally aloof, sensual facade on her face.
"I agree...its a deal." she said softly, tilting her head as she looked at him.

Re: Wounded, Helpless, and Vulnerable(Open)At least she didn't smack me upon making that suggestion...!
That was pretty surprising to Nate who'd grown accustomed to constantly bickering with Devorah, not to mention being regularly slapped by her. Sometimes, granted, he deserved it; sometimes, he didn't.
Nate swallowed hard, meeting her coppery gaze. He didn't know what to say now, much less what to do. There was the urge to try and kiss her again just because they had the opportunity and that threshold had been crossed. Somehow though, Nathaniel suspected she would haul off and smack him this time... and it'd be his dumb luck that it would be hard enough to knock him off the catwalk.
"Well. Buy you a drink for your success? I mean... don't know when you'll be that lucky again in your TIE, so I might as well be generous for now..."
There was the same edge to his words as ever when he'd verbally spar with Dev, but this time... there was a smile on Nate's face that hadn't been there before, softening the barbs.

It was only his smile that kept her from slapping him hard enough to fall backwards. Much as some distant part of her had wanted the change in his demeanor to last, the rest of her was pleased enough that it hadn't lasted. This Nathaniel...this one she could deal with.
Back on more familiar footing, Devorah snorted delicately and rolled her eyes. "If I hadn't been lucky, Nate, you wouldn't be here, now would you?" she snapped back, arching an eyebrow at him as she turned to saunter off across the catwalk. The tiny smile that teased at the corner of her lips took off a bit of the sting, her eyes flashing as she glanced back at him over her shoulder.

Nathaniel bit his lip to keep from grinning more widely. He knew that his eyes were still giving him away. But, as he reasoned, Devorah hadn't decked him, so things really had taken a new direction between them. He just wasn't sure what to make of it.
Closing the hatch on his Defender, the IF leader followed Devorah back into the Revenge. He stepped up beside her in the corridor, having to jump over some kind of random junk left littering the walkway.
"So, seriously... want to go have a drink?" He fished his deathsticks out of his shirt pocket, examining them to see if they'd been crumpled by the TIE's seat restraints. Setting one between his lips, Nate offered the second one he'd found to Devorah, not knowing if she smoked them or not.

"And she does mean NOW, folks..." Serrena added, arching an eyebrow and drawing the twin blasters that hung from her belt.
She noted that several of them glanced at one another, and even looked frantically past the pirates and down the hall. "I'm sorry...are you looking for the Jedi? They're a little incapacitated at the moment..." she purred, taking a great delight in the looks of shock that crossed their features.
Several crew members obeyed with great alacrity, and one on the far side of the bridge swore softly as he glared.
With brilliant red eyes. In Cheunh.
Serrena's eyes narrowed and rage seeped into her veins, her crimson orbs blazing brightly to the beat of her heart. She stalked over and without a word, shot the man once in each knee. "Watch what you say about half-breeds, you Chiss bastard...or next time I take what passes for your manhood as a prize..." she hissed in Cheunh, much to his pain-filled, obvious shock.

Devorah nodded and took the deathstick from his fingers, putting it to her lips in a long-practiced gesture. "Thanks...got a light?" she asked, taking a deep drag as he held out an open lighter.
"Yeah...why not? I could use a drink." she replied a moment later, her voice just a touch less aloof than it usually was. Disturbingly so.
Devorah kept her gaze on the hallway ahead instead of glancing at him, taking a deep breath and concentrating on the deathstick in her fingers. Thankfully, she could feel her adrenaline subsiding to more normal levels, and her skin cooled to its normal copper-tone.

Nate thought that Devorah seemed just as unnerved by this shift in their "relationship" as he felt. He thought so, but the young man couldn't be sure. He wasn't good at reading people to begin with... and Devorah always threw him for a loop anyway.
As they headed up the short lift to the more populated areas of the flagship, Nathaniel struggled to come up with some intelligent to say to her. Common sense warred with fear which warred with curious desire and it left him unsure of what to do or say at all.

Re: Wounded, Helpless, and Vulnerable(Open)"Yeah...the control yoke feels a little awkward, but that could be because I've never flown a Defender before. I'll have to take a look later on, just to make sure." Devorah replied honestly, her voice even and almost 'normal'. Though what was normal for the former pleasure slave and orphan from Deyda was debatable.
"Are the ships new? Didn't feel like it had been flown much before..."
