Re: On the Fringes...(CFR Only)"No questions." Devorah nodded, finding herself without a snarky comment for a change. She turned on her heel, and was the first pilot up the stairs to the catwalk where her TIE defender was suspended.
She spent several hours every day keeping her baby in perfect condition, but ran through the complete checklist regardless. Devorah kicked open her toolbox and pulled out a small hydrospanner, proceeding to tighten down everything that even appeared remotely loose.
The young woman smiled to herself as she crawled underneath her TIE, even humming one of the tunes to her dance routines as she worked.

For a long moment she just looked back at him, sharp hazel eyes taking in the expression on his face, as though she were memorizing his features. Then suddenly, she shook her head. A chagrined expression flitted across her own face.
"Nothing Captain. I'm tired, that's all. I need to meet Savin at the Mongoose. If there's nothing else you need, I'll be back here shortly...."

Re: On the Fringes...(CFR Only)"I need longer legs..." the dancer muttered good-naturedly, grinning up at Rok as she caught up to the towering wookiee. The easy expression was a touch forced, but with the various chemicals in her system, she couldn't tell.
"So...to the storage bay first to put stuff together and then take it to the hanger bay?" she asked.
Re: On the Fringes...(CFR Only)
Alema had gotten fairly familiar with her station at the bridge, and more and more she found that she was glad to take her appointed seat and make what contributions she could. The Twi'lek had a place now, and she didn't have to do everything herself. All she had to do was what she was best at, and it was enough.
She slipped her headset down over her ears and began typing furiously, telling the system that yes she was who she said she was, yes she was supposed to be here, yes she needed to use the computer, yes she--
Alema's breath caught in her chest as she felt something that drove a long bolt of panic down her spine. She felt... more than herself. Like she was contained outside herself and other things were inside her. There was no real way to explain it to someone who'd never been driven deep into the telepathic effects of glitterstim, but suddenly that was exactly what this felt like. The comforting smallness and privacy of her own mind were suddenly--
Gone.
With a strained noise deep in her throat she set her elbows up on the panel and rested her forehead in her hands.
Stop it stop it stop it stop it--
The feeling was terrible. Perhaps for her old clients it had been worth the extra charge. For them it was fun. For Alema all she could feel was the breath and heat and weight and sweat and minds of total strangers again and again and--
And then it was over. Alema pulled the headset off and carelessly let it clatter down to her console. All she could hear was the sound of her own breathing and it took everything she had to keep from curling into a ball until the memories passed.
But it was odd. She hadn't known that her varieties of spice caused flashbacks. In fact, she was fairly certain that they didn't.
Well, if it's not that I don't know what it is, she reprimanded herself, picking up her headset. Unless I've decided to start sharing my mind with the crew without chemical assistance, that's the only explanation.
Dissatisfied with her own conclusion but unable to reason herself out of it, Alema tried to get back to her job.

"Aye Captain," she said, unable to stifle the surprise in her voice.
Even as she moved away, the befuddled expression was clear on the First Mate's face. Never had Marcus said anything like that to her before. He'd never pushed, but also never relented. She could count on one hand the times he'd shown concern of that nature, and never to her. It did not bother her, but this... this was odd. She frowned, then pushed it from her mind. Whatever it was they were after must be very, very important to Marcus for him to act like this...

A few minutes later she was down in the docking bay where the Mongoose was kept. She offered a quick wave to Nathaniel and his crew as she passed, but hurried to the Lambda shuttle calling out Savin's name.

Savin got up from his seat without much of a word to start to make his way down to the bay. He stopped as the Captain passed him and placed a hand to his stomach. The D'xun-bred Mando'ad wondered if it was something that he ate that made his stomach twist so...
~A few minutes later~
"It's about frelling time.." Growled the D'xun-born mercenary as he leapt down from a tall stack of cargo pods to land in front of the statuesque redhead, so close that he was almost already in her face.
"Take your -time-, did you? Stop by the mess for a nip? Make time to go paint your shabla nails?" The warrior's grey glare leveled on the redhead eyes with a fury that could make one believe that lightning was about to fly out of them. "Is there anything -else- you want to go take care of to waste some -more- of my time?"
Savin turned on a heel to stalk his way up the ramp of the shuttle on the way to the cargo hold. It couldn't have been more than a few minutes more than the twenty that Saede said she would meet him here by. Could two or three minutes be enough to set the normally collected merc's teeth so far on edge?

Re: On the Fringes...(CFR Only)"Once...a very long time ago..." Serrena replied, pausing in the doorway to the storage bay. A sick, strange sensation came over her, making the young woman place her hands on the hilts of her sais. Her crimson gaze darkened as she glance around her, the hallway behind them empty, save for the crew members coming into the storage bay with them.
The dancer's grip tightened on her favored weapons, fear and panic rising to battle in her mind and make her want to run and hide. Serrena fought the inclination to bolt, coughing as it eventually subsided, seemingly leaving her alone.
You took too much stim powder this time...you're losing it...Perh taunted, startling her nearly out of her wits.
What the frak are you doing back? I had you exorcised...
His laughter echoed through her mind until Serrena shook her head furiously, making her a bit dizzy, and forcing her to stumble into the storage bay several steps behind Rok. She smiled up at the wookiee, hoping he hadn't noticed her strange behavior.

Saede actually started, taking an involuntary step back when Savin lept down in crashing irritation in front of her. For moment the red-head was speechless... a rare occurance...
"What's got your panties in a bind Skirata? I said twenty minutes. It's been," she checked her chono. "Nineteen. It was unlocked, you could have headed in..."
Even a moment after he disappeared up into the shuttle, she was quiet and still, hazel eyes narrowing slightly. First Marcus, now this... Apparently they hadn't ordered a long enough shore leave lately, everyone was acting off.
Re: On the Fringes...(CFR Only)
By then it seem having just recently rejoin the crew Sam still felt a bit out of sort. Having to deal with all the charnges and the fact they were from what she heard. Heading into the expanse of the Outter Rim Territorries to which althought not something new to her. Having accopanied her father a few times during some of his resupply trips there when she was young.
Yet still given all the rumors and space talk about this part of the universe did somewhat to unnerve her. And at best made her uneasy least of which all this she tired to hide from the others. Especially knowing in the back of her mind the tragedy that befell his father.
That for whatever reason it seem she couldn't shake the uneay feeling. She had on the back of her mind that Sam instead tried to focus her attention someplace else. Where in by as soon she dock her ship inside the Ferrets revenge. Sam opted to spend the rest of the time. In Doing some last min. diagnostic of the ship. And kept inside the ship for now till they reach their destination.

Re: On the Fringes...(CFR Only)
While the others were looking forward to the prospects of treasure huntin', swashbucklin', and other methods of dirty fighting, Inson Veritas, bo'sun of the Crimson Ferret's Revenge, was staring lopsidedly at an odd object in the kitchen, the one that had set off the warning alarm. He knew the best way to tackle this problem, and he knew it would be best, but he didn't know if it would necessarily be wise to do such a thing at the moment. ...Still, what choice did he have? They couldn't all die, right? And that's what it usually meant when the biohazard warning went off, right? And there was a lot of livin' going on in the ship, especially the kitchen, right? So Inson would be perfectly justified by getting rid of the...Whatever it was, right?
"Umm...Right?" he spoke to himself; his eyes cast on the sink that was covered in mold, or rather, what he would have called mold if he wasn't pretty sure it had said his name and slandered his mother about fifteen minutes ago, when he started scrubbing at it. No, indeed, desperate times call for desperate measures!
With a half-hearted shrug, Inson walked over to a nearby heavy-duty industrial power outlet. Picking up the cord to something in both hands, he plugged the jack in and walked over to the sink once more. There, he hoisted a large pack of something on his back, and picked up the tube-like object that was connected to that. Before continuing, he was sure, very sure, that it was time to put on the safety glasses he had strapped to his head.
"Well,Here goes nothing..."
After pressing a button, white-hot arcs of lightning scorched and licked the sink that could not have been much worse for the wear, anway. Continuing the barrage, Inson counted to the number "10" in standard seconds, when the lights of the kitchen began to flicker oddly. With a sigh, he put down the object.
...And he was pretty sure he heard whatever was there say something like "grandmother" and something very inappropriate.
It was going to be a long time before he went treasure hunting....That made him very sad.

Inside the ship hangar bay....
In anycase it seem not to have taken Sam too long in finishing up her diagnostic. Seeing as with all the work his father then her put in to keep the ship up to date. And least of which in good running condition that there was little more work that need to be done to it. That having been satisfied everything was in order she then slowly crawled out of the service hatch she was in. And once up she then slowly unzip the top half of her work overalls and tied the sleeves around her waist. As inside the coveralls she wore her brown tunic shirts and pants.
She then slowly reach for a rad to wipe her hands clean before try to hoiste herself out of there. When as she did so she suddenly heard something than made her turn. A soft female voice that she could not recall but seem to responded to none the less. And even without thinking she could only utter in her mind.
'Mother?'
But then seem waking from a dream she shook her head and came to realize. As the thin haze in her head slowly shifted and she slightly whispher to herself.
"But how could? When i never had the chance to meet her? No, this can't be...he said she died before i ....must be just nothing..." Edited by: samanthjade75 at: 7/23/07 10:05 pm
Re: On the Fringes...(CFR Only)
As Curt and Auster made their way to the engine room the Firrerreo looked up to see a young girl come up to the pair of mechanics. She appeared to be holding a selection of metal odds and ends, and while he had no idea where she'd got them from Curt was sure they'd come in useful. "Thanks," he answered Kady with a smile, carefully taking the selection from her and stowing them in a pouch on his belt. "What's your name?"
Re: On the Fringes...(CFR Only)
“Kady Seabell,” Kady responded instantly-then realized that she should say something more besies her name. Like how she ended up on the ship. “I followed Halik on board. And—the announcements—I don’t know what to do, but could I help?” She wouldn’t feel easy on the ship until she knew how it worked. She’d never been farther from her home on Tatooine, and she wasn’t sure exactly how she felt about it.

((ooc; normally I don't post until you do Savin, but in this case I had to wait to include the info in this next post as I didn't have the time to write it all up... consider the last post and this one essentially one big post :) ))
Saede shook her head, using a key card to open a huge locker than, until now, no one had seen her open. The smaller weapons lockers, still large enough to hold two full storm trooper sets along with other odds and ends was already unlocked, and she simply kicked the top off of that one in an absent gesture.
She began to pull out items, talking as she went.
"I don't like how Marcus isn't filling me in," she paused, glancing back at Savin. "Yeah, I don't know what the frell is going on either, but I can't let the rest of the crew know. You? I need you to know that we know *nothing* about what Marcus is planning... because I need help planning for any eventuality"
Turning back to the huge weapons locker upright against the wall of the cargo hold, she continued. A small piles of a variety of blaster pistols and rifles had spilled out into the durasteel, but these she just shuffled aside, obviously more interested in items deeper within.
"Modified Naboo Security s-5 blaster- Ascension gun... picked this up during my stay on Naboo. Very neat and tidy, grappling hook, liquid cable launcher. Can also fire blaster bolts and sting charges, but I'm out of the gas we need for the sting charges. "
She started a pile to her right with the ascension gun, kicking unwanted materials off to the left. As assortment of vibro weapons came out next, several of the knives added to the pile, then:
"Ion stunner. Stupid thugs on Coruscant thought this would be enough to take me down. It nauseated the hell out of me but not much more. Still, good for electronic devices- security door panels, droids...."
Into the righthand pile.
"Rail detonator," she heafted the gun, then tossed it toward Savin. "You'll like that. Missle launcher that fires compact explosives that can either detonate on contact with a targt or attach to a target and will blow when the trigger is pulled a second time. I only have a payload of six on that, but do what you can..."
A small case, opened to reveal a variety of grenades came next.
"Glop grenades, cryobans from Merr-Sonn, protongrenades... it's like Life Day in that box, rifle through and see if there's anything you need," she said as the case slid across the floor toward him.
"Ah, I was looking for this one," she said, poking her head back out with a grin. If she was still annoyed at Savin startling her earlier, it didn't show. The first mate was like a kid in a candy store and no credit limit. "Ssi-Ruuvi Ion Paddle Beamer. Fires a thin energy bean designed to disable an organic's nervous system. Similar to what we use on droids, but tweaked a bit. Very short range... originally a medical tool, but there are so many better uses."
That piece got stored immediately on Saede's belt.
"Spray Stick, dart shooter- where in the name of the Emperor's under-robes did I get this beam tube?" She shook her head, all of these items making their way into the left pile.
"Gaderffii, now why did I keep this?" She muttered a moment later, dropping the Tusken weapon and what might have been a half shattered lightsaber hilt behind her. Something that looked suspiciously like a Vong Coufee hit the ground a few seconds later.
"Ah, there's the lightwhip," she said, slinging that over a shoulder with an absent minded but obviously familiar movement. Several stun batons clattered to the floor as she shifted her movement to a far corner of the locker. A personal deflector bounced off the deck a moment later. A portable scanner was dropped into the righthand pile. The clacking and clanging happening within told that there were a multitude of objects that *weren't* being forced out as Saede dug around. A fusion cutter, usually used in ship repair seemed a surprising addition to Saede's growning pile.
"Here we are," she murmurered, pulling the oddest weapon out of the locker most have ever seen. "Geonosian Sonic Blaster," she said, hefting the meter long weapon. She didn't point it anywhere near the Mando, instead pulling it to where it fit snuggly into the hollow of her shoulder, checking a number of strange controls. "They had this on display for years at the Naboo Conservatory. Just before I left the Republic, I decided it needed a new home." She grinned at him impishly.
"Only gotten a chance to use it twice, but stang. Sonic waves are generated by a series of high-energy oscilators located near the rear.... A reduction chamber," she paused, pointing out the chamber, "collects and collapses the waves into a 'sonic ball,' which serves as the ammo. When it's fired, a small plasma containment charge is inserted into the sonic blast, stabilizing it... at least until it impacts. Then you've got a massive boom on your hands. A direct hit from this thing can rupture most organic's inner organs because of the concussive force...."
She paused, giving him a sheepish grin. "Grab anything you might find useful, savvy? I'll finish sorting through the odds and ends, but help yourself."

Marcus looked like a man who had spent the past year in a cell. Jumpy and more scruffy than usual, he shook off and ignored any of the crew who talked to him while he was waiting for Saede's return. He had just decided what he would do. Mismatched eyes, watery and red, focused on the screen before him.
Ten minutes before they would be there.
Sweating and slightly feverish, the captain suddenly convulsed and then sat perfectly at ease.

It had been a very unnerving few seconds after the haze seem to lift from her mind. For if anything, her past was not something she wanted know out in the open. Least to say in the company that she now had although there was some here she trusted well enough. On way or the other, some the likes of Saede, Rok, Inson, Nathaniel and his sister. But still she knew she had to be careful for not yet knowing the full story. She could calculate nor know what the implication would be to her and her status here. Least word leak out about what she initially found out…
But then unable to shake the feeling aside Sam eventually figured it was time for a short walk. Perhaps a little rest from the stress of working in such tight quarters would do her good. In any case after taking off her overalls and exchanging them for a clean pair Sam then lock her gear aside. Walking over to her ships hatch she then exits and find herself walking into the main ship landing deck. Where most of the ship the rest of the ferrets own were kept and glancing around at the assortment of fighter ship and what not.
She then took in a deep breath before setting foot outside and into the deck. Remembering to lock the door behind her as she exited. Seem to notice or see a few famillar faces around she then exhailed and move ahead. Thinking in her mind and say the same thing as if like a mantra.

Iron Ferret One was as ready as it was going to be. It's pilot, Nathaniel, crawled out from behind one of the solar array panels, wiping his grimy hands on a rag instead of his flight-suit for once.
He flipped on his comlink to contact the bridge. "Looks like the Iron Ferrets are ready to go... how much longer 'til we're there?"

Re: On the Fringes...(CFR Only)"Devvie..."
Startled, Devorah dropped the hydrospanner in her hand, and sat up just a little too fast. Nevermind that since she was still under a solar array panel, she cracked the side of her head very hard. Stars burst across her field of vision along with a lance of white-hot pain.
A whimper passed her lips as she scrambled out from under her TIE, scattering her tools in her wake. Devorah glanced around frantically, the sickeningly deep voice gripping her heart and squeezing it with iron fear.
"No...no no no...not here...you can't be here...you're dead..." she whispered, none too softly.
"Oh come now, Devvie...you're my property...you didn't think I'd go so easily, did you?"
Tears streaked down her face as she backed herself into a corner, hugging her knees to her chest tightly as she tried to disappear. The voice echoed cavernously, and though it was only in her mind, a faintly visible green image stalked towards her.
"Mine, Devvie...you're mine...I own you..."
Devorah screamed and lashed out, bolting out of the hanger bay as the green mist settled around her and seeped into her skin.

As Devorah screamed, Nathaniel dropped his comlink in surprise. She bolted past him and was out of the hangar bay before he could even try to reach for her and demand to know what was wrong. Nate looked back across the hangar; he couldn't see where anyone could've bothered her, but then...
"See? Another example, Na'thaniel'oruodo! You're such a poor example of a Chiss... pathetic!"
He turned, crimson eyes wide in shock and horror. "No..." he breathed slowly, his voice taking a deeper tone. "No... we... you're... we killed you... Father..."
They had. The Alcine siblings had gone back to Csaplar on Csilla and had tortured then killed their cruel and abusive Chiss father. The apparition evidently didn't care about that technicality on reality. He advanced on Nathaniel regardless.
"The girl is repulsed by you, like all the others I've tried to put you with... you're a nothing, Na'thaniel'oruodo. I should've killed you after you caused your own mother's death. You're just as much a monster as you think I am..."
Nathaniel shook his head emphatically. "No... no! I'm nothing like you! Never!"
He drew his charric, the energy beam weapon Serrena had saved. It had been their mother's. He fired on his father once again, unable to see throug his waking nightmare that he fired on open air across the hangar.
Re: On the Fringes...(CFR Only)
Alema struggled to focus on her work, but couldn't quite get over the feeling that this was all incredibly pointless. She'd never really tired of her work before, but she just couldn't keep her mind on it.
I can't believe Savin was just walking around half-dressed like that. What does he think he's trying to prove, anyway? He already knows that everybody wants him. He's no better than Serrena.
That gave her pause. She'd never had an ugly thought against the girl, not ever. She'd always been more inclined to worry about their resident celebrity, but now she--
What? Finally realizing what a mess she's making of everything? Walking around like she's the only female on the ship and what's worse is she's treated that way. You know it's true.
Never mind that Alema and Savin had recently had a rather involved discussion about how she expected to be treated, and never mind that she hadn't wanted to be treated like yet another easy little plaything.
It was so strange. Alema hadn't even really been aware of all this hostility, and she wasn't sure what was bringing it up now. It didn't actually make any sense, but there was no denying what was running through her head.
While she was thinking, another officer on the bridge approached her and asked her to scan a specific channel when she had a moment.
Why should you listen to him anyway? Because they offered me a place here, and it's the least I can do to help out. That's nerf s@#$ and you know it. Look at you. Still taking orders like the pliant little slave you are.
The Twi'lek did something she'd never done in response to any order she'd been given during her time on this ship. She scoffed and waved the man off. "Yeah, yeah. I'll get it."Man, I fight dirty when I want myself to do something. Maybe it's because you never f@#$ing listen. He blinked, surprised at receiving such a response from one of the most courteous of the crew. Shaking his head, he walked away and Alema mumbled to herself. "Can't get anyone to do a damned thing themselves around here..."
She ran a scan through that channel, found nothing, and rolled her eyes like a teenager. "I could've freaking told you there'd be nothing in there," she muttered. "But no. Have to come over here and tell me how to do my job."
What are you doing here, anyway? If he thinks he knows how everything needs to be run, why don't you just let him do it himself?
She blinked. Was she really leaving her station?
What? What's Marcus going to do? Beat you? You're disgusting. You never stopped thinking like the submissive frightened little girl your parents sold offworld. We're leaving.
She pushed away from her console, and turned her chair around. She walked across the bridge and out into the hall. She stood next to the door and leaned on the wall, wondering what she was supposed to do if she wasn't going to work. Well, maybe if the captain gets upset I can just tell him I was sick or som-- wait. Who's we? She shook her head. "Maybe I really do need a break."

"JUST SHUT THE SHAB UP, YOU FRELLING DI'KUTLA COW."
Savin's sudden outburst -filled- the confines of the Lambda-class shuttle with his frustration...with his -rage-.
"I don't need ANY of this frelling osik...ANY OF IT!!" Yelled the warrior as he tossed the rail detonator to the floor, starting toward the statuesque redhead in a -very- threatening manner. His grey eyes locked on her in a fury unseen by a majority of the crew. The hood of his neck flared as he bore his teeth at her like he was a split second from biting her.
"I could kill anyone on the SHIP with my BARE HANDS! I could kill YOU, RIGHT NOW IF I.."
:::What the..what am I...I..I have to go...:::
"..I.."
:::right -now-:::
"....I..I'll be in my frelling room..." With that he turned on his heels and made his way out of the shuttle with a speedy gait that one could -almost- mistake as...fearful. Suddenly a shriek resounded near him, dropping the every-ready Mando'ad into a low crouch. That was when weapons fire erupted nearby causing the battle-hardened warrior...to call out and -run-. He made his way to the exit as fast as his four 'legs' could take him, skittering down the hall like the quadruped that he -wasn't-, getting a ways down the hall before he came to a sudden stop. He stood slowly and tried to remember what he was doing there.
"Hey...you oka-.."
"What the frell do you WANT?!" Something snapped in Savin the moment he heard the crewman's voice, snatching the younger man up by his lapels and slamming him against the nearest wall.
"You want to die!? Huh!? You want me to FRELLING KILL YOU, you di'kutla little mir'osik!? HUH!?!" Savin's voice carried down the hall as he held the crewman a few inches off the floor in an incredible showing of raw strength...

Re: On the Fringes...(CFR Only)"Pleased to meet you, Kady," Curt answered the teenager with a broad smile and a friendly wink, extending his hand towards her as he did so. "The name's Curt, Curt Falnath. Me and Auster here are both fairly new to the ship too, there's been quite a few additions to the crew recently and I think a lot of people are a bit shaky on what exactly their post is." The gold skinned mechanic's tone was confident and reassuring, he could see how lost Kady looked, and she probably just needed a friend.
"Come with us, I could use the company..." the Firrerreo told the girl, nodding to his companion with a chuckle as he trailed off. Auster had been in a world of his own as they'd headed to engineering, and now seemed to have stopped altogether, he could catch them up later; it wasn't like he didn't know the way. Beckoning for Kady to follow the mechanic began to continue on his way to engineering. "So how'd you end up on this old bucket of bolts?" Curt enquired merrily, "apart from the obvious of course."
