Renze called up his comms and contacted Arin,

"Arin? the commando raid went south, I'm returning to the Bouncer to take tactical command of my army over," Renze said as his LAAT winged through the sky with four V-19s flying escort.

The LAAT/i touched down in the Bouncers landing bay and Renze leapt out and sprinted for the bridge, there were warning klaxons sounding throughout the ship, that meant the real enemy had arrived. Renze reached the bridge and demanded a report, the Captain turned and informed him that an Imperial fleet had arrived and was deploying troop transports, Renze nodded and sat down on his chair to think for a second,

"our defences can hold just about anything as long as they don't get behind us, focus all fighter and point defence lasers on Imperial landing craft inbound on the city itself, and get another two LAATs on ferry duty for the Archer, let them come..."

Hanger 14A loomed before her vessel, the weapons of her ship were powered down but she was reluctant to allow her shields down until she was safely aboard the Imperial ship. The repulsors of her fighter fired as she slowly glided to a standstill within the hanger, the cockpit hissed open and she stepped out with the air of an important dignitary about her.

With a smile she greeted her escort, relinquishing her weapons to them as she did so, though anyone who knew of her would know that she was still as deadly as ever even without being armed. An invisible mist of her pheromones washed over the security team and they all bowed their heads in submission as she stepped past them. The scent of her ex-wife was easily picked up by her sensitive nose and she would not need directions to find her.

A short while later and she was standing outside Hath's private quarters with her escort, one of the security team approached the door and used the comm to alert Hath that she was waiting outside.

Hathoruodo smiled as the first of the enemy vessels exploded, and activated the door, allowing it to open into the walls in traditional science-fiction style and allowing Kiara to see the back of her chair. "You may leave us," she said to the guard; though she didn't point or look at him he would know who she was talking to.

The Grand Admiral wiped a tear from her eye as she was hidden from view, and then turned her chair around half-circle and closed the door with the remote on the arm of her chair. This meeting could be very interesting.

Not long after the Grand Admiral's fleet went into hyperspace, Aurulius could feel the ship lurch as it did as well. Finally, we aren't on the defensive anymore. I have been doing my best to make sure this happens. Everything had been going according to my design. At least that was how he wanted to think of it. Better to think of it as a something greater than just one battle. After all, even if they didn't take any planets, there was always the tactic that Aurulius used.

Within a short time, Auruliusfelt the ship move back into real space. This should be enough to deal with any colonies that we find. With only three Star Destroyers, three escort carriers, and three light cruisers, it was obvious what his role in the battle was. After all, he was even told that he would be making sure that fighters didn't attack. But he knew that he wouldn't need all three for his own means, and ordered one to move for a microjump. It was going to make its way over to the Grand Admiral. It would be help, and Aurulius would even link up with the main fleet eventually.

But the orders were clear. If there were colonies on the moon, they were to be wiped out. And, as luck would have it, there was a small colony. The reports indicated that it would have been a nice colony given time, that it would have grown into something that the Empire could use. But it was clear what he had to do. Turbolaser fire rained onto the planet, buildings being destroyed and people being crushed under the rubble. All the while, Aurulius planned the next move. He could link up with the Grand Admiral's fleet, helping to wipe out the resistance fleet.

That seemed like a good idea, and it would make him seem like a hero. Of course, he could go by the plan exactly. The next part of the plan would be to start to make his move towards the planet. He would have to protect the ground that came in from behind the planet. A few minutes of thought, he decided that his one escort carrier had been enough help for the Grand Admiral. As soon as this colony was destroyed, he would be making his way to do exactly as he was told. After all, it was a good plan, it would be a shame to ruin it.

A flank of one of the Imperial batallions was edging too close to the treeline.

First mistake.

From across the grassland, closer to the walls of the small establishment the smugglers had made, came a loud, bleating horn. This horn's sound blew throughout the grassland, yet it's origin was still invisible to the naked eye. It broke through the loudest of explosions, the hardiest of blasters. This envoked a warrior's rage within Artemis Obauldi.

"Do-ro'ik vong pratte!"

The battlecry broke just as the horn ended it's blast, echoing throughout the ranks of the Imperials. The very words, not uttered since the landing of the Yuuzhan Vong upon the surface of Naboo, would strike fear into the fearless. Again, the origin of the sound was invisible to the naked eye, still cloaked by their Cloaks of Nuun. Even the most courageous of the Imperials wouldn't dare take a step closer to the tree line.

There were seven of the Yuuzhan Vong. Artemis began to think that perhaps the Imperials were too heavily outnumbered.

Nah.

A blueish boomerang was launched from the hand of Obauldi into the battalion that had wandered too close to the Yuuzhan Vong. This boomerang, referred to as a plasma eel, seemed to surge with electricity as lines of blue began to spark up and down it's skin as it whirled towards the soldiers. They immediately broke ranks, dodging out of the way of the eel as it neared it's mark. It's tail touched the ground, and though only a few Stormtroopers were still within distance of it's vicious attack, it had no other purpose than to explode. And explode it did - a vicious teal bubble erupting from it's body as the eel disappeared, becoming the wrathful destruction that wrecked the ranks of the battallion. The first couple of troopers were incinerated, their charred remains left to become trophies of the Yuuzhan Vong. Others lost limbs to the explosion, but the majority escaped the blast altogether.

The point of the destruction was not the damage it would cause physically, but morally. The Empire was now facing a new front of guerillas that they knew neither the number of, nor the location. They were facing an invisible enemy.

Further down the battlefield erupted another cry.

"Do-ro'ik vong pratte!". The Yuuzhan Vong's battlecry would stir new hope within the ranks of the Underworld.

Com Center / Shield Generator ( Ayreon )

Defense troopers began pulling forces from other arcs as fire came in from the Imperial infiltrators. The tree line began to crackle and burn under the abuse it was taking from defensive fire. There were about three major zones of incoming fire, and all were starting to ignite in a major way. The bunker wasn't concerned: they were prepared for such a contingency to come from a natural source.

While the diversion did thin out the mobile defenders, sentries remained on-station per their orders. So it came to be that when the Imperial infiltrator made his move, he was not unobserved.

"Shield defense - we got a runner in the perimeter at 290 degrees."

Within seconds five speeder bikes closed in on the invader, their pilots firing blaster pistols at the incoming commando.

Emergency alerts swept across the public comm channels, flooding Alema's head with desperate pleas to evacuate the city. The cause of the panic seemed to be distress signals sent out by a couple of ships some distance away. According to them, the moon's colony was being fired upon from orbit, and Alema quite sternly disapproved. Ordinarily she didn't consider the fates of other free creatures any of her business. Any self-governing man or woman should be held responsible for his or her own fate.

This, though. Even to Alema this was totally excessive. Did the Empire really want to drive the defenders insane? They were already fighting to defend their homes and families. If the fight became about avenging those families... this could turn very ugly.

This was one of the problems with the Empire. There were no individuals, and they'd forgotten how individuals think. Uncompromising and occasionally crazed individuals who had, in many cases, been on the run their whole lives.

"@#%$ imperials. You think every planet is just going to lay down like a whore for you, ready for whatever you want."

She resisted the urge to join the panic on the comm, screaming over every channel to evacuate the city while it was still possible. Besides. Agonizing as it was, the best thing she could do right now was be ready to relay anything that the ground forces needed transmitted to one another. The other friendly ships could do it, but they needed to concentrate on their own activities. If nothing else Alema could ease the communications burden on them by keeping herself available.

It had taken a good deal of persuasion to impress upon the would-be security guards, the teachers, that Nate was serious and that they were all in danger. It might have gone more smoothly if Nathaniel happened to be a good speaker. He wasn't. This was also his first foray into any sort of leadership, and now that that power was in his hands... he didn't really know what to do.

"This way... c'mon everybody... we have to keep moving..."

Thus far, there was no arial bombardment nor had troops overrun the forested surface of Myrkr. Nate was grateful for that! He glanced skyward, crimson eyes looking for any sign of a space battle in progress. He wondered if the Iron Ferrets were up there? He hadn't heard anything on the comm channel to suggest the TIE Defenders were in the area, or enroute.

Hmm.

"Hey mister... hey..."

A child, tugging on his pant-leg, brought Nathaniel back to the surface. "Huh? What?"

"Why are your eyes red?"

"Why are yours brown?" Nathaniel asked, half-humorously.

"Umm..."

"Shh, let's keeping walking okay? If we have to talk, use our quiet voices."

He glanced behind them. In pockets, groups of students were being led from the school toward the bunker across the playground. Nathaniel had to wonder why the school wasn't connected to the bunker by some more practical means that shared ground.

Guess not everyone is tactically savvy as the Chiss, he thought, then grimaced at that haughtiness for a society he mostly abhorred. It was in his blood whether he liked it or not though.

James was running full force betwen trees, and over thickets of thick vines. The once near majestic forrest was now a charnal house in the suburbs of Hell.

He heard the radio chatter of Crimson's Children, making their preparations to enter the great unknown, and his heart was almost torn for the two. He managed to force past it to kill an Imperial Scout that had walked into his path unwittingly. A single blaster bolt to the temple, and he went do, leaving a splatter point on the tree beside him.

He hated killing, except when he was protecting his life, his property, or his friends. These men and women who were fighting all around him were his friends. He didn't know but a few by name, but he would kill for each and every one of them

It was shortly after he dropped the scout that he heard Crimsons Children speaking again. They survived! Alright! He thought. Rounding another tree, he thought, Where the hell is Saede?

Renze bit back a cheer as Bouncer, his Acclamator blew dozens of the Imp landing parties into dust and debris as they made their way towards the city, the city's interior was protected but scores more landing craft began to land around the Bouncers arc of fire. The Archer got the last of those headed into the city itself and the Corvette commenced attacks on the enemies outside the perimeter. All three of Renze ships hammered the enemy forces, Renze opened his comm and contacted his ground forces,

"men, you have inbound enemy forces, prepare to repel assault, commandos deploy inside the city, if any Imps made it down inside the perimeter I want them killed," Renze listened as his men acknowledged their orders, as soon as everyone had chimed in Renze checked the scanning imagery, small blobs of heat moved in fours into the city, commando hunt and kill teams.

Satisfied his men could handle the situation Renze turned back to his chair, sat down and started to read the reports that were flooding in from the different sectors around the city, the Archer field hospital and the flyboys who were carrying out bombing and strafing runs on the unsecured Imp landing zones.

New Post Re: Into the Jungle (Takeover of Myrkr - TGE)
Office of the High Inquisitor, Dantooine

“H-High Inquisitor?” The overly skinny human figure hunched over and hung his head as he cautiously entered the private chambers of his master. The last time he had disturbed her without a good reason, he’d suffered thirty-five disgraceful public lashes with a leather whip. But all of that was a distant memory, and he was sure his master would want to hear about this. The hiss of the airlocked doors closed behind him as he looked around the room anxiously twiddling his thumbs. “Y-Your Eminence?” He stuttered again, and trembled as her figure appeared in the shadows across the room.

“What is it, Frick?” The annoyance in his master’s voice became painfully obvious as he fell into a deep bow. “Your Grace, the Empire has plans to launch an attack on Myrkr. My sources tell me that Grand Admiral Hathoruodo and the Imperial fleet are already moving into position for the attack, and that several small Imperial Intelligence detachments are already operating covertly on the planet’s surface.”

Amira raised a skeptical eyebrow. “You’re absolutely sure Frick? The Empire has been on the defensive for quite some time; for it to launch an attack on a planet as prominent as Myrkr is sheer tactical folly.”

Frick nodded his head as he continued to grovel. He squinted and flinched as Amira stepped forward. But luckily she seemed interested in what he had to say. Smoothing the wrinkles out of her form-fitting black dress, the High Inquisitor carefully observed herself in a mirror and smiled. “I think you’re lying, Frick.” Amira turned her body sideways and admired her slender figure. Frick trembled and fell to his knees on the cold marble floor. “Eminence, please! I beg you! I’m telling the truth!”

A sadistic grin appeared on Amira’s lips as she reached down and pulled a thick black leather whip from a drawer in her desk. At the tip of the whip, a tiny blade as sharp as a razor glistened in the artificial light of the room and danced through the air as she let the whip lash out at the man groveling at her feet. One loud yelp escaped his lips, but he did not dare move. He’d attempted to flee from her once before, and was hung by his toes for two weeks. The flesh on them had never grown back quite normally.

She lashed out again with a twisted laugh of pleasure. And then, as quickly as the beating had begun, it stopped. She retracted the long whip slowly, curling it up neatly in her hand and returning it to the solitude of the drawer in her desk. “Come to think of it Frick, I remember the Grand Admiral mentioning something about an attack not long ago. I just wasn’t paying much attention…”

Frick trembled as blood oozed from the deep gashes in his skin. Amira took a seat behind her desk as he stood. “Prepare my shuttle, Frick. We’re going to Myrkr.” The High Inquisitor drummed the tips of her fingers together as the same sadistic grin crossed her soft-brown lips. “If we leave immediately we should arrive before the planet is entirely subjugated. I may be able to get in on the excitement before it’s too late.”

Unknown Village, Myrkr

Flanked on either side by a small entourage of TIE Interceptors, the Imperial Lambda-class Shuttle Zobelae sliced through the thick overcast of clouds suspended in the skies above Myrkr with deadly precision. The planet itself wasn’t much different from Dantooine; thick lush forests and dense foliage provided the perfect cover for any defense team, and the tactical disadvantage to the Empire almost seemed to be more trouble than the planet was worth. Still, the High Inquisitor reminded herself, the Empire did have the tactical advantage of surprise on there side. Carefully observing the grounds below the shuttle through transparisteel viewing ports located in the side of the shuttle, Amira kept a lookout for the perfect landing zone.

“There…” she pointed and gestured to the pilot to take the ship down.

“Where those people are?” the pilot inquired cautiously. “Forgive me Inquisitor, but what if they’re soldiers?”

“They’re not. If they were, with as low as you’re flying, you’d have been shot down by now, you incompetent fool.” She rolled her eyes. “Have the Interceptors set up a defensive perimeter in the air and keep a lookout for any ground forces in the general area. They appear to be civilians heading for that bunker. Set us down between them and that bunker. Get the stormtroopers ready. I have an interesting idea.”

Within moments, the shuttle’s powerful sub-light engines brought the shuttle closer to the ground in the clearing near the school. As ordered, the pilot carefully positioned the shuttle between the group of refugees fleeing the school, and the bunker that they appeared to be hurrying toward, no doubt to escape an Imperial airstrike should it come to pass. As the ship hissed and groaned as it touched down, a small contingent of stormtroopers quickly rushed down the ramp onto the harsh dry soil of Myrkr. With blaster rifles raised, the stormtroopers seized the opportunity to surround the small group of mostly teachers and school children.

“Nobody move!” the stormtroopers ordered as they trained several blasters on the crowd.

The High Inquisitor slowly descended the ramp after the surface had been secured, and removed a pair of long black gloves one finger at a time. A tight black dress with a slight trail behind her followed in her wake, and the overly skinny figure of Frick followed closely at her side.

We were so close!

Nathaniel ground his teeth as the teachers and he formed the best defensive circle around the children as they could manage. His hand remained on the butt of his charric, ready to draw the energy weapon on the Stormtroopers and take out as many as he could before they got him. He owed the kids that much.

Glowing crimson eyes glared with frustration and then with a spark of baffled curiosity as the High Inquisitor deboarded the shuttle. If it weren't for the Stormtroopers' presence, Nate wouldn't have known this woman was Imperial.

I didn't know the Imps allowed women... that's not what I'd heard... huh...

The teen's heart pounded dully in his chest, weighing his options. He was the self-professed Red Flame, which in Chiss culture, meant that he aspired toward heroism and valor. In reality, Nathaniel hadn't quite behaved in such a way as reflecting that although the title did mean something to him.

His words were hollow as he spoke. "They're just children. And they have nothing to do with the conflict you brought down on Myrkr. Let them pass and get to safety. It's... it's me you want."

Lorelai Base, Myrkr

You,” Amira started as she took a few steps forward, raising her hand and gesturing for the small crowd of stormtroopers to part and give her some space. “What do you mean you’re ‘the one I want’?.” She chuckled. His words made it clear that he was working for the Galactic Underground, but the fact remained that he was not the one she wanted. None of them were. They were simply a convenience that she planned to use to her own tactical advantage.

Amira glared into his eyes and brought a hand forward to caress the soft young skin of his left cheek. Her thumb traced the outline of his eye socket and she smiled compassionately. Chiss. “My dear boy, what makes you think I’m here to hurt you. I’m here to help you. All of you.” She smiled again, and looked down at the weapon hanging from Nathaniel’s side.

“But first,” the High Inquisitor added as she slowly started to pace in a circle around the refugees “each and every one of you must help me. Myrkr is now in the hands of the Empire, and therefore each and every one of you is afforded the same rights and privileges as any Imperial citizen under Imperial law. I cannot harm you. However, if you take up arms against the Empire, you become Rebels. And you will be punished accordingly.” Again, Amira glanced at the weapon holstered at Nathaniel’s side.

A second shuttle, this time a Sentinel-class bearing a much larger contingent of stormtroopers flew overhead, it’s sublight engines roaring as it slowly lowered toward the ground not far from the Lambda-class that the High Inquisitor had emerged from moments prior. “My name is Amira Hadara, High Inquisitor of the Galactic Empire. And this,” Amira gestured at the school building "is now Lorelai Base."

Amira paused for a moment and observed the silence of the crowd. She offered a slight nod at the one who had spoken up only moments before "and you are?"

Nathaniel had been around the galaxy for a few months, but not nearly long enough to understand the intricacies of the politics and warfare that seemed endless. Small wonder the Chiss have stayed to themselves, he had thought more than once.

He flinched, his body going impossibly rigid when Amira caressed his cheek and gently touched around his eye. Nate breathed slowly and deeply, his hatred and frustration still burning bright in those crimson eyes, especially now because of her touching him.

They haven't taken Myrkr yet and this is all a lie, he thought.

"Nathaniel Alcine," he replied through gritted teeth. "And I don't believe a word you say. I've already been in Imperial captivity once. I know better than to believe you."

Artemis stared across the field, wiping the dirt from his hands as he peered at the muddy footprints that had been left imbedded in the ground by a battalion that had crossed here. They had dispatched an entire company already, but between the explosions of an intervening AT-ST and the arrival of a cadre of scout troopers on speeder bikes, the Yuuzhan Vong were forced into hiding again. Lom-Nor had suffered a minor flesh wound - a single blaster bolt had grazed the cracks of his Vonduun Skyy-Kerric armor. Yet they had slain over two hundred men. A small fraction of the Imperial army, but a sizeable portion for the beginning of any battle.

The fallen Dread Lord opened his villip, a fleshy face peering back at him from the goo underneath. "Lom-Nor, Javeesh, what news do you bring us?" The brow of the face furrowed, the Yuuzhan Vong on the other side of the villip obviously distraught by something. "We bring no word, Dread Lord." Hearing the title was like grazing razors across the Yuuzhan Vong's face, yet he tolerated it. The Yuuzhan Vong still loyal to him were determined to rising to glory once more.

Artemis sighed. There was no sign of this battalion that they had been chasing for an hour since the first battle - they must be traveling fast. The only direction they could be heading is the city - and if they needed ground support in the city, then they were looking to conquer it, not destroy it. This meant they wanted the planet, not the chance to scour it of the Yuuzhan Vong or those of the Underworld. Worse yet, conquering the city meant the Empire could establish a very efficient outpost on a planet that had little resistance. An outpost that could serve as the focal point for an invasion.

"They've only begun."

Ayreon would have sighed if the majority of his respiration system wasn't dedicating itself to running pell-mell towards the bunker. From all directions he could hear the whine of speeder bikes closing in on him, and much sooner than he had hoped, the distant 'pings' of blaster fire echoi8ng from their weapons. Continuing his run, Ayreon locked on to the generator facility with his iron will, making a promise that he would get there, no matter what, no matter what the object. The first barrage of shots from the bike soldiers missed him, the pilots not having lead their target, or had time to home-in on his movements. Soon, though, the Imperial guard knew that the shots would be more accurate, and he would have to change his game.

Reaching into the folds of his robe with his spare hand, the guard pulled out a heavy blaster pistol, standard issue for all guards, and suddenly slowed his speed and acceleration. As a result, a few blasterbolts that would have brought him down whizzed in front of his face, and he continued on. Cocking his head to the side for only a second, the guard fired three quick shots at the group of speeder bikes. All three were aiming for the head of the pack, with the first shot going up the middle directly for the bike, and the other two (fired in rapid succession) aiming off to the side, in anticipation of the biker's weave to evade them. Did he think they would work? Maybe, maybe not, but it was worth a try.

The guard rolled suddenly, making his profile smaller, stood up without so much as a pause, and continued on. He would make it to that shield generator.

"You need not try and hide your emotions from me Hath." Kiara spoke softly as she entered and the guard left. "I can taste the salt of your tears in the air."

The shapeshifter's keen senses were sometimes more a curse than a blessing, she tried to block out all the involuntary reactions that Hath's body was going through but found that her own body was reacting in the exact same way. Kiara hated not being in control of her bodies workings but there was very little she could do except try her best to not let it show on the outside, it would just not do for Hath to see her like that.

Despite her self control and how she had prepared herself, the sight of her ex-wife still managed to stir emotions from deep inside her. It had been their careers that had come between them in the end, Hath's devotion to the Empire and her own thrill seeking as a Bounty Hunter, they had spent less and less time with each other. Seeing her now was difficult, the love of their relationship had not been the problem and their seperation had been alright when she didn't have to look at Hath.

Kiara bit her lip until it bled, she relished the metalic taste inside her mouth for a moment enjoying the slight pain as it took her mind off of the Chiss woman.

"What is it that the Empire wants with Myrkr?" She asked as she moved to another chair and sat facing her old flame.

By then it seem, after being away on one of her side trips for profit. When from afar her ship sensor could not deny it...that trouble was come to their very doorstep. In which case in haste she then set about to turn in defense as she the in her mind thought.

James was running still. He didn't hate running, but he didn't enjoy it either. He was running short of breath and making as much noise as an injured Krayt dragon, it came as no great surprize when an Imperial Troop, probably a straggler, stepped out from behind a tree and drew down on him.

The trooper fired once, and the blast tore his shoulder slung blaster rifle apart. Leaving little flecks of plasteel in his hair. He remained absolutely still. He didn't want to be taken prisoner but he didn't want to die either.

"Let me guess," The Stormtrooper said, "You think that I wont kill you if you don't move and cooperate, right?"

"That's kinda the plan yeah.

"Tough luck jack...." He said and shouldered his rifle, "They never said anything to me about prisoners."

James' eyes snapped grew to saucers when the Trooper took aim, and he nearly fell over when he saw the Trooper pull the trigger. Nothing happened. Empty energy cell...who'd believe me if I ever told the story, he thought.

He rushed forward at the stunned Trooper, who suddenly realized that he was out of ammo. The trooper threw a hard left hook, which James ducked. Coming to within half a meter, James reached forward and got a firm hold on the Troopers helmet, and swinging his left leg behind the Troopers knee, he knocked the mans leg out from under him, and slammed him into the ground.

He didn't even blink when he drew his pistol and fired three times into the Troopers face. The shots were fired before the other man had settled in the dirt cloud he had made on impact.

He holstered his blaster, took the Troopers E - 11, and a few energy cells, and continued towards the rendevous point.

Shield generator

The five speeders moving in on the Imperial infiltrator suddenly lost their lead as the guard's blaster caught both pilot and bike. Shrapnel from the resulting esplosion fell into an intake of the bike directly to his right, causing the engine to flame out. The rider of that bike was soon tumbling across the ground.

The explosions caused the other three to break off momentarily, overshooting Ayreon instead of firing on him further. Within five seconds, however, they had arced about and were firing on him again; desperate to get their kill. The generator and jamming system were huge stumbling blocks towards Imperial domination - they had to be defended.

Hyllyard City

As Arin sat in the command bunker, reports were coming in of Imperial incursion. Apparently they had overrun one of Myrkr's cities and had established a beachead - not good.

She immediately checked over her resources: someone would have to be dispatched to correct this situation.

New Post Myrkr
A lone Corellian Corvette dropped out of hyperspace and activate its long range sensors. The Imperial fleet would pick it up on their own sensors, but its purpose would be a mystery. The small capital ship sat poised to jump at the slightest movement. The small shuttle that left the Corvette was armed only with sensor jamming equipment as it raced toward Myrkr. Twenty occupants with a specific task, all Mandalorian, all lightly equipped. Several powercells, a sidearm and a communicator. Soon they would be on the surface plotting the purging of the invaders.

"You need not try and hide your emotions from me, Hath." The Grand Admiral smirked a little, but didn't retort. Her beautiful ex-wife had always had that talent, and it was something that Hathoruodo had admired professionally before they got intimately involved. Why they had been torn apart it still wasn't clear to either of them. Perhaps it was their work, or perhaps it was destiny. There were, despite the incredible scientific advances that were made - hyperdrive, cloaking, cloning, genetic manipulation... - many things in the universe that were still left undiscovered; and what events change people's lives - whether it is chance or a higher power - Hathoruodo thought was something that will probably never be discovered. "What is it that the Empire wants with Myrkr?"

She smirked. "What the Empire wants is simple. We've lost planets, and we've been attacked several times. In short, since the loss of High Admiral Disra half a year ago, we've been on the defensive. What I, and the Empire, wants is a victory. Simply, the Sith are still allies, the Republic are not of any danger to us - and the only enemies we have are the Jedi and you. Since defeating the Jedi at Alderaan, and keeping our planet there, we had two options. However, Kane E Smart and company launched an attack in your name on our shipyards recently, and the Empire needed to claim vengeance."

She shrugged, and took a step towards her former lover. "What I and the Empire want are different. The Empire want domination and vengeance; I want a victory and justice. Myrkr was the logical choice, not only because you seem to have a lousy selection of planets, but because if we want to press an attack - against somebody other than you - we will have to attack the Jedi. And as we all know, Myrkr holds a great secret when it comes to battling Jedi." She sighed, and looked out the viewscreen beside her, where she could see another explosion rippling through an enemy vessel.

"I haven't told you anything confidential. The Underworld will already know all of this. But the Galactic Empire will win here; it is inevitable with my tactics and the Imperial navy's quality. I will not stop you from fleeing, however, should any of you want to." Another explosion lit the sky as a starfighter was destroyed close to the Super Star Destroyer. "I never want lives to be wasted, but in war there are sacrifices that have to be made. Your troops had the option to join us instead of you; but instead of helping others by joining a safe, social-minded faction, they joined a clan that runs on individual strength and profit. It is an ideology that should be obliterated - and one day probably will be. Cooperation is a powerful tool; and those that only care about themselves are likely to flee. Unfortunately, the Underworld's many fools seem to have honour as a trait marked as important to them; as it is important to me. This makes them stubborn and want to win. A pity."

She shook her head, and turned back to Kiara, taking in the positions on the holoscreen as she confirmed that the Empire were taking less losses. "But you're not here to speak to me about a battle. You know my mind - you wouldn't be able to anticipate my tactics, perhaps, but you would be able to understand my reasoning behind it. You of all people." Hathoruodo bit her lip and decided to make her question blunt. "What are you here for?"

"All assault craft are ready for launch. We await your orders." Pter nodded and proceeded down the long hallway until it opened up into the massive hanger inside of the Super Star Destroyer.

"Very well," He retorted, stroking his chin in thought. "Let us begin the assault." It had been awhile since his return from the Outer Rim that Pter had actually led a significant fighting force. The number of drop ships launching were in the hundreds and the General had confidence in his fighting force, especially against such an undisciplined foe.

**Thirty Minutes Later**

"We're in for some flak!" The speaker system aboard the shuttle blurted out as the craft began to shake violently. Who would have thought that the Outlaws had land-to-air capabilites. "Hard la-" The pilot was abruptly cut off as the vehicle smashed into the wooded terrain, severing both wings before coming to a halt.

Such was the life of an Infantry commander. Arakin and two of his officers kicked down the cabin door and jumped onto the soft, moist ground.

"Let's keep an eye out. We won't have AT-ATs or any other vehicles for a little while." Calmly and professionally the Imperial Army began to fan out and approach the Outlaws.

Amira smiled and nodded her head in agreement. “I know it might be hard to believe, but Myrkr is now under the authority of the Empire. The Yuuzhan Vong Artemis has been apprehended, and several other Underworld operatives have already been executed in…” Amira paused, seemingly confused, a brilliant tactic of deception. “Gosh, what’s the name of that city...?” Retracting a small datapad from her pocket, she smiled in confirmation and pressed a small button. “Hill… No, Hyllyard City.” She looked up as several of the citizens in front of her began looking around at each other with inquisitive eyes. Her deceptive plans were already starting to plant the seeds of there denial in the Underworld.

“If the Empire is not in command of this planet, why am I here?” she asked as she started to pace back and fourth with her hands behind her back. “Surely the Empire wouldn’t send a High Inquisitor to an unconquered world? An Inquisitor” she gestured at her clothing “in a dress no less. It’s preposterous!”

One of the citizens finally spoke up with a terrified look in his eyes as he clung to a small child. “She’s right! She must be telling the truth!”

Amira nodded her head and stopped pacing as she glared at Nathaniel. “You would be wise to surrender your weapons immediately. It is a violation of Imperial law to bare arms on a world under Martial Law.”

As Amira spoke, attempting to convince the locals that the world had been subjugated by the Empire, the Sentinel-class Shuttle that had landed moments earlier was quickly unloading troops and weapons, seizing control of the entire village and strategically taking the high ground on several rooftops.

“As I said before,” the High Inquisitor continued “I can help you. But all of you must help me.”

OOC: I hope you won't mind this, Amira - I'll edit if this doesn't work out right to you.

Lorelai Base, Myrkr

Serrena!

A cold knot of fear clenched in Nathaniel's stomach as he listened to the High Inquisitor. Absurdly, he wished that he had spent more time learning about how the Empire operated than crazy fighting techniques from the First Mate. The former would have done him much more good in this moment! While Amira's words were gaining leverage on the faculty that had helped to shield the children, it didn't settle right with Nate.

First, he had the earpiece in place still. Through it, he'd heard nothing to the effect that the Empire had overrun the Underworld operatives or the Crimson Ferret crew. Second, though it was foolish, Nathaniel thought he would know if some ill fate had befallen his sister. He was no Force sensitive and neither was she... but still, he felt that he'd know if something had happened to her.

The whole problem, however, was that Nathaniel didn't know how to behave now. What ought he do? The High Inquisitor's next remark decided that for him, however: “You would be wise to surrender your weapons immediately. It is a violation of Imperial law to bare arms on a world under Martial Law.”

Cocky teenager though he could be, Nathaniel was sentimental to a point. And the Chiss charric energy weapon on his hip was the one immediate connection he had to his deceased mother, a woman he'd never known as she'd died when he was born. Under no circumstances would he lose possession of the charric. Never.

“As I said before,”
the High Inquisitor continued “I can help you. But all of you must help me.”

The stormtroopers had begun to disarm the faculty who had submitted to her perverse logic first. Nathaniel felt the moment slow to the one point when he felt it was time to act. The troopers circled the students, gathering the weapons behind Nathaniel, while Amira stood closest to him.

NOW!

In one swift motion, Nathaniel unsheathed the Echani sword from over his shoulder and stepped toward the High Inquisitor. He used surprise to catch her by the arm, drawing it behind her and pulling Amira in front of him as a human shield. The sword hovered against the delicate skin of her neck.

"Order your troops to stand down," he growled against the side of her head. "Now. Or the Empire will be short one less pretty woman in a dress spewing propaganda... do it!"

Nathaniel didn't know how expendable she was or not, but he suspected the High Inquisitor was someone of importance. He gambled on the fact that the Stormtroopers would not shoot through her in order to take him down. He was doing a lot of gambling in this, frankly. For the moment, he only hoped Amira would heed his warning. He didn't want to have to make her his first female kill.
