Re: Into the Jungle (Takeover of Myrkr - TGE)
~*Crimson! Word from Red to get the hell out. Rendezvous point Second Rat. I'll get word to the others next. Over*~
"Alright lads and ladies, that's it. Pack it in...we're done here." This news was met with a number of sighs of relief by most. Only one thought that pulling back was a terrible idea.
"Wait! What about the bombardment? Won't they need someone one the ground to get them telemetry so they can make their strikes effective?"
"Not something we can worry about right now. We have to pull out to regroup. You heard the order."
"Well, d**m that, man! My mom and little sister are still back there in the city and I want to kill as many of these bastards as I can before they even get close to them."
Savin stopped in his gathering of his kit to to think about what this young man was saying to him. The battle-tested warrior shook his head. This child had no idea what he was asking to do. He would realize the price he was about to pay and choke at the last minute. Savin could use him elsewhere.
"No. Pack your kit and get ready to mo-.."
"I'm stayin'! Look, this isn't your home or your family, Dammit! You don't -have- to care about anyone here. But, this is my blood we're talkin' about! I'm not gonna leave here when I can do something to really help keep them safe!"
The young man, of whom couldn't have been older than 19 seasons by the Mando's reckoning, stood with a sense of purpose that the warrior did not see in him when he was wielding the Plex launcher for him earlier that day. Any hesitation he had then seemed to be completely gone. Savin had still not turned to face this young man.
"Your gonna die if you stay. You know that, right?"
"Would you do any less for your family?"
Savin's helmeted visage turned to the man with a measure of surprise. Those words almost stung. Savin could not help be feel a slight tinge of shame. To even ask a man his conviction to defending his family was something that would have insulted Savin had someone grilled him in the way he was grilling this young fighter. He examined the boy...no, the -man- a moment to get a better feel for him. To see if he was, indeed, the kind of man that would even consider this and intend to carry it out.
"Switch to channel 5-C. Her call sign is "Cobalt". Treat her with respect. She got us this far. Aim for supply depots, bacta caches, ammo dumps, walkers, and troop transports in that order." The Mando'ad tosses the man a laser rangefinder and a spare clip for his blaster rifle. "Make sure they are in no condition to attack the city and they will delay here all frelling night."
"Got it."
"Wait..I'll stay too. Rik's gonna need someone to watch his back." A young-looking woman with her long brownish-blond hair tied back stepped forward. The look in her eye showed more about her intentions than any words could ever tell the Mando'ad.
"Jen, no. I-"
"She stays." Said the Mando mercenary, cutting the young man off before he could continue his protest. He took the rifle from him and handed it to she who would serve as his cover. "If you get overwhelmed, aim low. You only need to wing them to keep them from returning fire. Then, you can put fire on the rest of them as they advance. Got it?"
"Ya, I got it." There was a bit of a grim look that they shared. They both knew what this would entail. And they had no illusions toward the ultimate outcome of the next set of events that was about to take place.
And neither did Savin.
"Alright, everyone else..let's move." He didn't look back. He simply continued on with the remainder of his troops and made his way to the coordinates Saede provided. That was until he got a message from someone that he did not think he would hear from so soon.
~*Savin? this is Renze I have set up a CP in the forest and have the facilities to co-ordinate your forces and supply aid to your wounded, co-ordinates are as follows*~
:::Hah! the silly di'kut's just a few kilks away from us. And on the way to boot::: Savin smiled under his helmet. Besides being -just- what his weary troops and he needed, the Mando'ad was genuinely happy to hear from his explosive vod.
"I read you, Renze. I am incoming with wounded. Make ready for our arrival. And don't get too comfy. We got a forest fire trailing us."
______________________________
"You seeing this?" Jen muttered off-handedly to her partner as she looked through the scope of her rifle at the -massive- Imperial landing force. It was one of the main reasons the Empire was feared as they where. The sheer numbers they could bring to bare was insane. She wondered if the Firestorms the she spied over the horizon could even make a dent.
"Yep...too bad for them. Cobalt...this is Crimson's children.." He looked over to his partner with a slight smile. The grin that she returned to him was all the evidence that he needed that she approved of the name as well.
"..relay to fighters inbound. Targets at Mark three three niner by Mark five five two and Mark seven six eight by Mark four three four....give'em hell fliers. Crimson's children out."

Re: Into the Jungle (Takeover of Myrkr - TGE)
Ayreon frowned and stayed low; there was no mistaking the coming hum of a speeder bike, but whether it was only one or the first in a patrol, Ayreon couldn't tell, and wouldn't know until it had passed, but this didn't look very good. Surely, Ayreon could take out the speeder bike quite easily, but he couldn't do so without causing some kind of audible ruckus, with speeder bikes being flammable and all that. Besides, something told him that this shield generator was more important to the outlaws than some petty outpost, and he would be met with resistance anyway that he went; perhaps using the speeder bike would be better in this instance....
In any case, the guard decided it would be best to wait; he would need to ascertain the security situation more completely before acting, and of course, that speeder bike was still coming. Ayreon hunkered down and waited, making sure to stay low and hidden among the brush of the forest planet. As a lasting measure that he was sure he would forget if he didn't do it then, he attached a silencer to his heavy blaster pistol ever-so silently, and afterwards stayed completely still in the brush.
***
Beta team watched calmly in the forest as their leader moved out, but they were ready to spring into action at the next sign of trouble; silencers on their blasters would really serve little purpose, since by the time they would be using them, their cover would probably be blown, but they understood how they might be useful in the event of jungle-based guerilla warfare, and so made sure they were armed themselves, but for the most part, the bulk of Beta Team stayed hidden themselves, merging as part of the local flora in their efforts not to arouse suspicion.
Off in the forest, the two guards from Beta Team asked to start a diversion continued their quest; splitting up, they created controlled, nonlethal, but attention-grabbing fires in the forest at the mid section of the surrounding legion, on either side; even if it was only for a small while, the legion would have to deal with the fires before it went any further, all hopes warranted.

Renze swore when he heard the words forest fire, turning Renze switched the comm link to the command freq,
"Arin? this is Renze, Savin's started a hell of a fight and we need air support NOW! send two squadrons of V-19s to the following co-ords," Renze encoded his position and sent the message in a burst transmission, Renze hit the panic button that recalled all his commandos.
Men started to filter in from Savin's direction, Renze realised that they'd need backup and called the two LAATs that were running ferry for the Nebulon B, Renze ordered them to start transporting the wounded back to the Archer. Turning, he nodded to the LAAT/s pilot who lifted off and headed to a different area, Renze stayed at the LZ to co-ordinate the evacuation of the geurillas.
Re: Into the Jungle (Takeover of Myrkr - TGE)
Viktor rolled across a short stretch of ground, using his cloak to muffle the sound as he came to his feet behind another bunker. He was within striking distance of the tower now; as his men scattered and turned towards the tower, hiding in the shadows, they armed themselves with their blaster pistols and prepared for whatever would happen. Hopefully Ayreon would bring down the shield generator quickly, and the Imperial Crimson Guards could shoot the snipers before making their way to the jamming signal and deactivating it.
After all, the space battle would be starting very soon.

Re: Into the Jungle (Takeover of Myrkr - TGE)"Acknowledged, Renze: hold tight."
Arin dispatched the two squadrons Renze requested, and diverted two of the Firesprays that were combing the forest to provide cover. Each of the sent vehicles included a squad of troopers to aid with air support and provide ground cover in case of evacuation. In other actions, ten LAAT/i's were refitted for fire duty and sent to support the infantry column - there were a number of fires cropping up about them, and Arin doubted they were accidental.
Twenty-four with Renze, twelve by the shield generator, nineteen supporting the infantry legion: her resources were dwindling. Over half the gunships were on active assignment now, and Arin was positive they hadn't seen the Empire arrive properly yet. The AT-TE's and infantry were mostly stationed about Hyllyard on standby, while Arin waited for the other shoe to drop.
They hadn't seen the bulk of a planetary invasion force yet. Arin wondered how long it would be before they did.
Re: Into the Jungle (Takeover of Myrkr - TGE)
Alema tilted her head and frowned. Crimson's children, huh?
Recording a burst, she sent it off to the two friendly ships she knew were in the area from the comm chatter.
"Hey you two. Cobalt here. Relay this to anyone with a weapon that I've missed. Word from Crimson's children still in the area. Targets at Mark three. Three. Niner. By Mark five. Five. Two. And Mark seven. Six. Eight. By Mark Four. Three. four... Orders are to give 'em hell. Over."
That burst was sent off to Renze's ship as well as Arin in orbit. Hopefully having some precise coordinates would help them keep their fire away from their own people.
Her next burst was to Crimson's people on the ground. "Cobalt here. I copy, and word's been passed. Over."
Briefly she wondered where Crimson was, but decided not to think about it. If he was dead, these ones should have followed orders and gotten out. If he wasn't dead, maybe they were just the ones staying behind.
There was that creepy "talking to a dead man" feeling again.
"Sahak chir, kids," she muttered to herself.

Re: Into the Jungle (Takeover of Myrkr - TGE)
Ayreon frowned; in the distance he could hear the sound of a coming gunship; a LAAT/i that would no doubt be bringing reinforcements. If he was going to act, he would have to act now, and rather quickly. The hum of the coming speeder bike grew ever-close, and gave the crouch guard an idea. Ayreon double-checked his blaster, and indeed, the silencer was still on; perfect. Before moving, Ayreon contacted the rest of Beta team in the outlying forests;
"Hear that? A LAAT is enroute, probably with reinforcements. Take care of it however you can." when the LAAT came into range, the forest would wake with fire from the multitude of heavy blasters the guard team was carrying, as another delay tactic; if the gunship wanted to land troops and protect those inside, it would have to find some way around the suppressive fire.
Knowing that the bike was on approach, Ayreon stayed in the relative safety of his bushy cover, and waited for the coming of the biker. Before becoming a guard, Ayreon was an elite stormtrooper, a marksman of marksmen, and the coming gauntlet would test his skills. Seconds later, the speeder bike came into view, Ayreon began to take aim, to lead his shot....
And he fired, right before the bike crossed his path. The silent shot zoomed forward, impacting with the speederbike and the surprised driver. Before a proper reaction could be formulated, the bike careened off of its proper path, until it slammed into the forest edge closer to the opposite side of the shield generator facility. Ayreon hoped that such a happening would distract the garrisoned troops, so he could really begin. He would only have a small window, so the guard would have to hurry.
Without hesitance, Ayreon prepared his legs, along with a thermal detonator.

Re: Into the Jungle (Takeover of Myrkr - TGE)"Fire-four: your target is mark 339 x 552. Fire-two: your target is mark 768 x 434. Fire-one and Fire-three are to stay with the infantry column. Fire-five stand by."
Two capable medium assault ships were bearing down on the Imperials. With that accomplished, Arin quickly adjusted channels. "Cobalt, this is Hyllyard Defense. There is a Firespray-31 in the hot zone which can be diverted, and cover can be provided. Does anyone need assistance?" Arin knew that the only way to get that kind of telemetry was to have spotters on site. Arin hated leaving people behind.
With all this going on, a report from the shield generator station was delayed. It seemed that one of the patrol bikes ran off course and into the woods. The pilot survived but was injured, and medics were on-site. For now the explanation was a case of equipment failure, but a squad was moving out into the woods to check the parimeter while the station remained on full alert.

Her comm came to life again. Whoo! Back to work, she thought. No matter how hectic things were getting, it was immensely gratifying to know that people were relying on her. Well, gratifying and petrifying.
"Crimson's children, this is Cobalt. Word from Hyllyard Defense that there's a Firespray-31 around. They say it can be diverted and cover is available. Come back and tell me what you need. Over."
She waited for a response from them, and hopefully she'd have something useful to relay back to Hyllyard.
Re: Into the Jungle (Takeover of Myrkr - TGE)
Kiara had been on Kamino when she had heard that Myrkr, one of the worlds controlled by the Galactic Underworld was under attack from the Galactic Empire. News of such importance didn't take long to transverse the galaxy and reach her ears, especially given whose presence she happened to be in.
She marvelled at the array of equipment and the places that it penetrated, government facilities, criminal strongholds, everywhere seemed to be hooked up to this place and giving feedback. It was quite dark, only a few small lights illuminated the vast complex but her eyes could easily penetrate the gloom to see to where the man who ran this place sat wreathed in shadow.
"Go and help your friends, Miss Midnight. I'll still be here when the battle is over." He spoke as if he had sensed her looking at him.
Kiara nodded forgetting that he could probably not see her, but knowing that he would be too lost in his work to hear her speak anyway. She left silently, her vessel glinting in the glow of multiple lightning strikes as a large thunderstorm raged on Kamino, the sleek fighter jumping to hyerspace on a course to Myrkr as soon as it was safe to do so.
"R2, open hailing frequencies and transmit to the Imperial fleet." Kiara told one of the droids as her ship came out of hyperspace and bore down on the Imperial fleet from behind.
The little droid complied and beeped to her when she was clear to transmit a message.
"This is Kiara Midnight of the Galactic Underworld, I seek an audience with Admiral Hathoruodo Midnight." She bit her lip as the message sent, Kiara hadn't seen her wife for a long time, they had steadily grown farther apart and their divorce had been taken care of through third parties, she wondered now if Hath still used her name.

"Down!!"
The shriek of blaster fire filled the area as the tree that provided cover for the pair going by the handle of "Crimson's Children" on channel 5-C, split in half as the water and sap contained within was suddenly turned into steam seeking explosive release when an AT-ST's chin cannon opened up in their general direction.
Jen was the first to pop her head up, wondering if that was an aimed shot or just another attempt to flush them out. As the same walker turned it's attention to another part of the forest to repeat the process she gasped a bit, realizing she had stopped breathing.
"We're good...for now."
Rik knew just what she meant by that. The fire that they had escaped was starting to burn toward them at an alarming pace. They would not be able to stay there much longer. They needed to make the time they had there count.
"Cobalt, this is Crimson's Children. The party-crashers are getting pretty rowdy." Rik thought that sounded pretty close to what the Mando would have said. "They look like they are gearing up to cause some real damage, but there is a couple of walkers that are causing us some problems. Glad to hear about the loose flight. We need him to hit the walker at..."
He placed the range finder monocle to his left eye as he peered around the splintered remains of the tree. He could see the walker starting to advance on their position. Had it seen them? If it got any closer to the forest edge, it most likely would. And they couldn't move to better cover due to the fact that if they moved, the Crimson's Children would be staring down the AT-ST chin turret's barrels.
"...Frell." He didn't mean to leave the comm channel open, but what's a guerrilla to do?
"..Mark four two two by Mark four three four. He's breathing down our necks!"

Artemis lounged in his throne, chewing on a barren grape stem as he listened to the thundering explosions of war in the background. Fresh grapejuice still ran down the stem, exciting the senses in the Yuuzhan Vong's mouth as he tongued the fruit, wondering if he should travel to the orchard for yet another plume of grapes. His brazen skin shined underneath the beating sun that came in from a gaping hole in the side of the Monolith, a tribute from the Legacy. Artemis always enjoyed the Sun, despite his preference for total darkness. The sunlight was warm, opposed to the cold dark that the Yuuzhan Vong had endured for so long. It was much easier to fight under the sun, enjoying it's warm rather than dying in the cold.
Perhaps Artemis would head out to do battle after all.

Alema waited, fingers tapping nervously on her console while she waited for Crimson's boy to give her the @#%$ coordinates. As soon as he was done, she flipped over to reach Hyllyard.
"Hyllyard. Cobalt. They're having problems with walkers down there. Mark four. Two. Two. By Mark four. Three. Four. Over."
Turning back to 5-C, she put out another burst along as many secure channels as she dared. "Word from Crimson's Children still in the area. Things are getting messy, and while they seem to be mustering to hit a little harder, right now walkers are the main problem. Coordinates were given to Hyllyard. Cobalt over."

Re: Into the Jungle (Takeover of Myrkr - TGE)"Fire-five: Mark 422 x 434, priority!" Arin's foot shook nervously while she waited a reply.
"Fire-five copies ... target sighted ... we've got a tone ... firing cannons."
Miles away from Hyllyard, the oval cruiser opened up on the stray Imperial walker. Although armored against infantry fire, the light walkers were no match against a starcruiser's laser cannons.
"Fire-five acknowledges confirmed kill. Standing by for new vectors."
Even with the Imperial dealt with, the situation left Arin deeply disturbed. "Fire-five: area report."
"Zone is hot. We're taking small arms fire - nothing significant, but not a place I'd want to vacation right now."
"Fire-five: land at target co-ordinates and scan for spotters. Try to pick them up for re-location somewhere that's a little less crowded. Tell them we'll give them a pair of bikes to keep moble if they co-operate."
She didn't want to lose the spotter's advantage, but there was just something about calling themselves 'children' that tugged at Arin's heart. She hoped they were alive - and that they'd listen to reason.

Re: Into the Jungle (Takeover of Myrkr - TGE)
"Rik..I think we better move.."
She knew how terrible an idea that was as soon as the air that carried her words passed her lips. She was well aware at the brand of burning death that awaited the "Crimson's Children" the moment they popped their collective heads out into the open. But, that walker was -going- to spot them any minute now.
"No, we gotta hold." Rik could hear the roaring buzz of the Firesprays as the their approach. He could see the shift in Imperial ground fire as they caught wind of the imminent death that was about to rain down on them.
"Just a few more seconds..."
"RIK!!" The young man looked up to see the walker stomping down on their position with the fury of a predator that has scented it's prey. It was going to kill them both.
"Jen...?"
"Ya Rik?" She was amazed at how calm she felt in all this. She was staring up at her death and, yet, she was unafraid. It was almost like she couldn't see the point in screaming or becoming hysterical about it. It was simply -going- to happen. She was ok with that, somehow. Must be the company. Too d*mn bad.
"Jen..I love you." No time like the present to let her know. Odd how in life, you worry about death and in death all you can do is think about living.
All she could do was smirk, extending her hand over to him and clasping her, comparatively, small digits over his hand.
"I know.....boys have the worst timing." She scooted over to him to kiss him upon the cheek and wrap her arms around him, willing herself not to cry. Rik followed suit..in both ways. He held her with all that he had, knowing that this was the last time. He couldn't help but sob quietly. He would miss his mother and sister so.
Without the slightest hint of preamble, the top section of the walker lurched forward a moment before exploding in a firestorm that bathed the surrounding forest with a scarlet incandescence that filled the Children of Crimson's field of vision, blinding them to any goings on outside of the hearth the flames had created for them.
They held one another a moment longer, surrounded by the roar of flames around them before they came to realize that they where, in fact, not dead. They pulled back to look into each other's eyes a moment like it was the first time before Rik claimed her lips with his own. She moaned with surprise as she had never -really- known passion in her young life until that moment. Rik had to admit...he could see why Mando's seemed to like this combat thing. There is -definitely- a rush in this line of work. One that Jen was feeling as they finally came up for air.
"W..wow...can we get shot at more often?"
Rik only smiled as he turned to gather their gear. Where they were was no longer a good place to be. And when they saw the Firespray land slightly deeper into the forest, Rik was certain where they needed to get.
"Cobalt..." Rik paused as he realized that he had left the comm on throughout that mess. He wondered how much Cobalt had heard.
"..Crimson's Children here. We made it. Walker's down. Thanks for the relay. You saved our skins. Going to link up with a flier. Will advise. Crimson's Children out."

Re: Into the Jungle (Takeover of Myrkr - TGE)"Just a few more seconds..."
"RIK!!"
"Kika'lekki," she whispered to herself. She wasn't going to have to listen to them die, was she? As the conversation continued she curled her fingers under her armrest and squeezed it hard. She didn't know them but for a moment she hated that there was nothing she could do for them, that she was just a witness to their deaths from miles away. Even with her listening they were as alone down there as anyone else.
Well, no. Perhaps that wasn't true. At least they were together. When Theogen had left her he'd--
Her musings were smashed apart by a noise so loud she had to cover her ears, sliding away from the speakers at her console. Swallowing hard she looked up again, pulling her hands down. There was silence for several seconds, and Alema went to flip the comm over to Red's channel. Her hand paused inches from the switch.
"W...wow..." Her jaw dropped. "Can we get shot at more often?"
Arni'soyacho, Kika'lekki.
"Cobalt...Crimson's Children here. We made it. Walker's down. Thanks for the relay. You saved our skins. Going to link up with a flier. Will advise. Crimson's Children out."
She sent her answer across the channel with a smile. "I copy, Crimson's Children. Keep me posted. Cobalt out."

Re: Into the Jungle (Takeover of Myrkr - TGE)
Fire-five set down pretty much on top of the destroyed walker. It was the only place the pilot was certain the spotters weren't. Triangulation had them about twenty yards downrange - entirely too close. The ship turned to face the on-ramp to the spotter's location, with the hatch opening to reveal a pilot in a generic brown flight suit.
"You two - get over here now! This whole zone's hot, and I only have ninety seconds before I have to dust off again!"
Re: Into the Jungle (Takeover of Myrkr - TGE)
The battle had been progressing just as the Admiral had predicted. By now IIB and Crimson Guard forces had been engaging the smugglers and other assorted low lifes for some time now. The Imperial Army had been witheld from combat for this very reason. While the special forces of the Empire softened up the targets, the Imperial Army would eventually appear with such force that thee untrained and undisciplined scum would not know what to do with themselves.
Pter approached the Chiss Admiral while shee stood observing the unfolding naval battles.
"Admiral, I think it is time to deploy the Army and crush these smugglers once and for all. Just give me the word ma'am and we'll be planetside in 25 minutes."
Re: Into the Jungle (Takeover of Myrkr - TGE)
The starlines came back into view. They were far enough away from the sensors, and they would be making sure that everything was working. The scans would show if their plan could be done correctly. And in a short few minutes from exiting hyperspace, three lightdays worth of space between them and their target, Aurulius got a beam transmission. The plan was alright, the Galactic Underground probably wasn't expecting a fleet either. At least not one of the sheer size that this taskforce was.
And even if they did lose, it wasn't going to be because of the Commodore. It would be because the Grand Admiral had messed up, as Aurulius was quite sure that he could take care of the group that would eventually fight him. Everything was planned out carefully, and the coordinates were ready for their last jump. In only two minutes, which wouldn't even be a minute after the Grand Admiral's own fleet did their jump, they would be making their way to their designated area.
They would do as they were ordered, wiping out their enemies, obviously this campaign wouldn't take too long. If it did, then they had done something wrong. The sheer stength of the Imperia Navy was going to be the deciding factor, it was going to make the battle short but sweet. Hopefully the Army proved to be doing its job just as well as the Navy.

The pair, known on channel 5-C as Crimson's children, waisted -no- time in making their way to the landed Firespray and running up to the ramp.
Rik walked up to the pilot and stood strait up, trying to look tough. "You saved our lives..I don't know what to-.."
"Thank you." Jen hugged the pilot a moment before running up the ramp of the heavy fighter past the flabbergasted young spotter. "C'mon Rik. Ninety seconds -isn't- all day."
"Umm..ya..ya, I'm coming." He followed her into the ship without any further question. Let it not be said that the boy doesn't lean -quickly-.

The hatch of Fire-five closed and cleared the area. The com panel chirped, and the pilot checked the incoming message. Waving to his passengers, he tapped a text message from Hyllyard.
To those identified as 'Crimson's Children':
I wanted to make sure you knew how much your efforts have been appreciated. While I'm sure that this is only the beginning of our troubles, it's the spirit of people like you which will see us through it.
With regards,
Arin Ellis.

As Arin tried to co-ordinate and improve the communication within the command post, she paused to smile. That was the one part of being a Republic Chancellor that she missed: meeting and saluting the heroes. It was a pleasant moment that was fleeting, as the Empire was coming to Myrkr in force.

Ayreon would have to move quickly; this would be a fast operation that would end in either success, or massive failure. Luckily, he only had to worry about fulfilling his mission at this point, living was, after all, a perk with things like this. With his explosive diversion completed, the guard took a deep breath, and without further ado, bound from his cover and took off at a dead run towards the generator; he had no idea how much time he had, but at this point, he was little more than a low swipe of interference amid the chaos caused by the explosion at the side of the facility, so hopefully whatever soldiers or personnel would be covering the bunker, well, would be distracted.
Furthermore, Beta team from the forest saw him make a break for the generator facility, and began to open fire from various parts of the forest; most fire bounced harmlessly of the projected shield, but still provided a distraction and perhaps a detriment to any forces coming near the projector.
Meanwhile, Ayreon neared the projection station, detonator armed and ready; There would be a three second timer on the detonator after he depressed the trigger; also, the detonator was what was known to be a 'class A', though such was not marked on it; whenever he let it go, there would be quite the large boom, enough that the shield would most likely be adversely affected by the outcome, no matter what.

Re: Into the Jungle (Takeover of Myrkr - TGE)
Grand Admiral stood as the starlines blurred into the familiar and hypnotising bluey swirl of hyperspace. It had been far too long since they had been on an aggressive territorial campaign, and she was hungry for a massive victory. There was barely a minute in the final hyperspace jump, and when she came out, she would have to move swiftly to keep the enemy fleet from thinking easily.
As she waited, General Pter Arakin stepped through the open doors, and waited by her side. Moments later, the ship juddered as it exited hyperspace, flankside to the planet. Surprisingly, there was a large fleet already there - not one to match the Imperial Navy by any means, but a large fleet nonetheless. She frowned - how had they managed that? It didn't matter - she had prepared for an eventuality such as this. It was just a nuisance. Turning to the screen beside her, she brought up the sensor display of what was going on down on the planet's surface.
Grand Admiral Hathoruodo saw no activity in the enemy camp - hopefully the Crimson Guardsmen weren't captured and were still unnoticed in the citadel - but there was plenty of activity in the forest. Explosions, lasers and chaos filled the screen in that region, and the Chiss Grand Admiral knew that Bill Gould was in the middle of it. "Admiral, I think it is time to deploy the Army and crush these smugglers once and for all. Just give me the word, ma'am, and we'll be planetside in under 25 minutes."
She smirked. "It is time. Land AT-ST parties west of IIB by ten klicks and the AT-AT parties north by twenty. Close in on the criminals and crush them from all sides in the crossfire. If you have a spare legion, land them in the capital and destroy any military targets. Try to get it done quickly. Thanks." She saluted him and turned towards the naval battle. Soon, she presumed, there would be the ships owned by the other Admirals appearing in the sensor shadows. But for now, her Super Star Destroyer Shockwave and two Star Destroyers Inferno and Typhoon would be enough to handle the fleet.
And, with Admiral Kalenka's fleet in reserve, this should be a useful battle for them. It was unlikely that the criminals would put up enough resistance on the ground to keep the Empire working hard, and the fleet couldn't be well-crewed. It must be a mercenary group, and they had a tendency to fail at fighting with the same vigour at the people who's homes were under attack. It should be more of a cleaning exercise than anything else. "Open fire on their largest ships. One at a time, please. Launch all starfighters."
Suddenly, she received an incoming message from an unidentified vessel - but one that had just exited hyperspace in the shadow of the Super Star Destroyer's engines. "This is Kiara Midnight of the Galactic Underworld, I seek an audience with Admiral Hathoruodo Midnight," the voice said. Hathoruodo looked over to the communications station, and indicated to her private quarters. A lump had formed in her throat and she'd rather not talk to her ex-wife in front of a bridge full of people - she also had large displays in her quarters and could watch the battle raging, and intervene if necessary.
Stepping into her large private quarters, she activated the hologram board, and then sent a return message. "This is Grand Admiral Hathoruodo," she said through a clenched jaw, trying to keep tears from forming in the corners of her eyes. "You have clearance to land in hangar bay 14A. Please do so." It seemed that this battle still had many surprises to offer her.
Wiping the lone tear from her right eye, she activated the comm to her security team and spoke gently. "Activate the beacon in Hangar 14A, please - and get a team there to escort Miss Midnight to my private quarters." None of the security team would have done so before, despite the fact that it was a regular occurance barely 6 months ago. Such was the nature of the Imperial Navy; a nature that Hathoruodo wasn't particularly fond of.
She looked at the board and smiled; the army was on its way to help the battle, and the defence screen she thought would be in the way didn't exist. Apparently the smugglers didn't know another ground force was on its way.

Re: Into the Jungle (Takeover of Myrkr - TGE)In town...
Nathaniel's stomach turned uncomfortably when he came upon the schoolyard. Why anyone wanted to live on Myrkr was beyond him to begin with; why anyone would live there with children was well beyond his ken. It seemed that the facility's administrators were wise to the battleground that Myrkr had become: the school was in lock-down.
I've got to get them out of here... they deserve better than this madness we brought down on them...
Mindful of the chatter going on in the earpiece he wore as TGU members coordinated the offensive and defense, the transportation of the wounded and everything else, Nathaniel felt this was what he had to be doing. His own childhood had been ruined by an irresponsible, domineering parent; he felt he had to try and help these kids if he could.
Clearly unsuited to the task of security for the school, scantily armed instructors eyed the tall half-Chiss teen warily as he approached. It was obvious he was armed but he kept his hands up and clear of his charric and his Echani sword.
"Hey... I was coming this way to warn you to clear out," Nate said, stopping several paces from the pair. "The Empire's going to try and make scrap out of the planet. You've got to get the kids out of here. Is there a bomb shelter or safe zone somewhere?"
"Don't move..." an instructor, a Bith, warned.
"Hey, I'm not. Listen, I'm here to help," Nathaniel said, keeping his hands up. "It's good you're on lockdown, but the Empire's not going to care about that. They're going to see you all as sympathizers to the Underworld, even the kids, and we have to get them to somewhere safer. You read me?"
In theory, Nate himself should have been in school. He hadn't been in over a year now, not since he'd fled Csilla. The crimson-eyed teen gazed at the Bith and Human instructors, pleadingly.

Re: Into the Jungle (Takeover of Myrkr - TGE)
Artemis stared at his cadre of Yuuzhan Vong warriors.
They were of the Domain Lah, as was their leader, Seoung. They were the late descendants, though only known by association with the late Tsavong Lah. They all donned light brown cloaks that, when wrapped around their bodies, formed an aura that refracted light. Enduring these capes of flesh to cloak themselves within the wood, Artemis and the seven other Yuuzhan Vong stalked towards the open grassland where the smuggler's city and the battle was raging on. Donning the hoods of their Cloaks of Nuun, the seven Yuuzhan Vong disappeared, stepping out onto the open grassland for the first time since their full occupation of the planet.
Artemis stepped out before them, for the first time leading a group of Yuuzhan Vong since the days before his Legacy consumed his past. Footprints were noted on the mush ground as they made their way toward a small battalion's left flank, watching as explosions rocked the side of the city.
Invisible, the Yuuzhan Vong were surveying the field, noting when and how to change the tide of the battle. Seven of the most vicious warriors within the galaxy would soon find themselves opposite of one of the mightiest military forces, and would soon match wits. After all, Artemis Obauldi had met worse opposition.
