Jon listened as Iria, then Kane, reported their status. Good, they apparently made it into the freighter and found a secure place to wait.

“Understood,” was his breif reply. Now it was up to the slicers.

“Cobalt, the away team is in place. Please advise of status changes,” Jon requested. “By the way, if we pass out, how are we going to call you?”

Jon chuckled at the thought of Alema's irritation at his glib remark. He could envision her now, fuming at him on the inside and trying to maintain her calm and collected outward appearance for the other slicers.

It was quiet in the men’s freshener. Jon stepped out and cracked the outer door to see how the employees were disbursing. The oncoming had already cleared the area and were out of sight – probably inside the freighter. A few of the offgoing crew were still straggling down towards the debarkation area.

Jon exited the freshener and started walking towards the elevator the accessed the upper gantry levels, where the tractor beam control room was located. He wanted to be as near as possible when he got the go ahead from Alema.

Ellie nodded in response to Alema's request. "Yeah, working it. I'm hoping that I can extract some of their own data, and we could just send the same repetitive things back to it."

Most of it so far seemed to be systems data, and Ellie felt a little sorry for whoever it was who would care about any of it. There wasn't anything interesting about repeatedly confirming that all systems were functioning appropriately and that nothing had changed.
Perhaps there wasn't anybody at the other end at all - maybe it was entirely computerized. A concept Ellie found to very unwise. Even if they weren't always there and weren't always watching a single person who knew what they were doing could pick up all kinds of mistakes a computer would miss.
Oh well. It would be their loss - literally.

A few minutes later, with having double checked her work, Ellie spoke again. "Okay. I think I've got a solid lock on this, if you want to take a look at it."

She took a deep breath and got back on her comm to the others. "Cobalt here. I'll be very surprised if you pass out at all, let alone simultaneously with no time for anyone to get on the comm. You'll be the first to know if anything's going to happen to the climate that'll do more than make things a little uncomfortable for a while. Over."

Alema peeked over at Ellie's work, and nodded. "Looks like what you built it from, which is exactly what we need. Thank you. I know it was kind of a menial task." She got in and changed the system so that it was receiving its updates from Ellie's datapad and not from the facility itself. "Now as long as your 'pad stays on, we should be able to do just about anything we please," she announced.

"Kari," she turned toward the young woman. "You mentioned that you were comfortable working with the droideka security, but that the hardware and software you'd worked on was a little out of date. I'm familiar with the modern programs, but if you've worked with something similar to this before, I'd like to be able to consult you on it since this is the next step. Tell me what to do, and I'll work with the newer interface as a go-between for you. Sound good?"
