You have just entered room "RP Stuff Discussion."
EternalDragonAya has entered the room.
J4deninj44 has entered the room.
Arch mage144: OK.
J4deninj44: Here we go.
Arch mage144: So basically. How much has Kate told you?
J4deninj44: That you were interested in a campaign.
Arch mage144: Something to that effect. I want to do something large-scale.
Arch mage144: But I can't do it alone for a variety of reasons. And I figure you
and I have similar goals.
J4deninj44: *nod*
Arch mage144: I've done a lot of brainstorming the past few days and come to
the realization that part of the issue with adapting my ideas is that most of
the RPs I've run have been epic in scale, just not in scope.
J4deninj44: Hmm...
J4deninj44: Well, what ideas have you been going through?
Arch mage144: Well. Here's what I have so far.
Arch mage144: Basically, armies of celestials have been laying waste to the outer
rim portions of Riva and Nekonia, razing and destoying almost completely at
random. A lot of outskirts settlements in the extreme north (of Riva) and
south
EternalDragonAya: Ooh
EternalDragonAya: Invading angels, good!
Arch mage144: (of Nekonia) have been attacked. Most of the damage seems to
be completely without pattern--sometimes entire blocks are destroyed, other
times one house will be leveled and another will be completely untouched
next door.
Arch mage144: By the time the RP begins, the majority of both Nekonia and Riva
have been largely razed. Survivors struggle to rebuild, and a great many lives
have been lost.
Arch mage144: Over the course of time, the path of the celestials becomes clear.
Their devastation isn't simply random or chaotic--it's gradually seeking and
drawing near to something, and that something is Doma Capital.
Arch mage144: Now, of course, they're not doing this for the hell of it--there's a
reason.
Arch mage144: Located underneath the foundation of Doma Castle, far below the
surface of the planet in a secret vault, lies the Tome of Infinite Wisdom, an
artifact that literally contains all the knowledge of every world in existence.
Arch mage144: Now, the Tome obviously can't fit entirely on the material plane,
so it spills over.
Arch mage144: The result is that you get this insane extraplanar mass that bulges
out into other dimensions of existence--and the tome's presence on other
planes is sporadic, random, and uncontrollable.
EternalDragonAya: Ooooh
J4deninj44: At least it doesn't talk!
Arch mage144: It's recently burst into the celestial plane en masse, resulting in a
lot of destruction of personal property, but there's also the fact that the
knowledge within, coupled with the presence of so much sheer energy, has
caused a
Arch mage144: great number of celestials to go utterly and completely insane.
Arch mage144: They all have one mission, and they're not willing to negotiate.
Arch mage144: Find the Tome's material root and destroy it.
Arch mage144: All this lays the framework for a great number of sub-RPs.
Celestial attacks. Doomsayer prophets convinced that the attacks by the
angels are a sure sign of the end of the world. People trying to capitalize on
fears and instabilitie
Arch mage144: *instabilities.
Arch mage144: So.
J4deninj44: Wow...
EternalDragonAya: I like it! It will be interesting to see people dealing with celesital magic
instead of the demon variety.
J4deninj44: Indeed.
Arch mage144: The basic result as far as PCs are concerned is obvious. Even if
Doma city isn't getting razed or attacked (though it might), there are a
number of things for different characters to do.
Arch mage144: Deal with crooks and doomsayers, try to deal with the celestials,
gather information, eventually seek out the Tome itself, whatever.
Arch mage144: I figured razing most of Nekonia would be no problem. You're the
one dying for change, after all. And Riva is mine.
J4deninj44: Right. I sounds good to me.
J4deninj44: Just how to implement it....
Arch mage144: And yeah, I figured people would go "oh no, not demons again!"
so I looked for another option. I was originally considering having the
celestials being manipulated by someone from behind the scenes but decided
some
Arch mage144: neutral, blameless entity was a better idea.
Arch mage144: I'm only worried about one thing, and I hate to say it, but that's
Pervy.
EternalDragonAya: He shouldn't worry, "his" precious Doma isn't getting touched...sorta.
Arch mage144: I do plan to touch it, though, which is half the point. People
won't take things seriously if it's all fringe.
Arch mage144: The capital is probably going to be left alone until the very end.
Arch mage144: But it's too good to resist. Dive-bombing angels slaughtering
people and destroying sectors of the city while the peasants run around
screaming about how judgment day has come.
EternalDragonAya: That's a great image. XD
Arch mage144: An Independence Day-esque obliteration of Nekonia's castle.
Arch mage144: Or Riva's, which is closer--and the light visible in the sky for an
hour from Doma city.
Arch mage144: Anyway, these are basically the sorts of things that've been on my
mind.
Arch mage144: The idea of course is to keep the majority of the world out of
what's going on aside from "angels are attacking" and then slowly reveal
where they're going and why--and then eventually some plan will be
Arch mage144: formulated to stop them.
Arch mage144: I think that's it. o_o
Arch mage144: Unless anyone has something to say.
EternalDragonAya: I heartily approve of not telling anyone about this until it's too late.
Because if they know, people will try to stop it. >_> Which is why Adam and I said nothing
of the invasion things.
Arch mage144: That would be the idea.
Arch mage144: I basically want you two to do most of the execution of this. I'm
so busy anymore that I can really be involved only on weekends.
Arch mage144: But I do want to be consulted and updated regularly.
EternalDragonAya: *nods*
EternalDragonAya: I have exams coming up soon, then a break before summer school so I
might not be able to start right away
Arch mage144: There aren't any major named characters involved in this--yet.
Except one, and I'll take care of him. The Archangel Christopher.
Arch mage144: The rest we can invent as we need them.
Arch mage144: And I'm willing to wait as long as need be. I want to have as much
time to be involved in this as possible, and I'll have more time if I wait, too.
Arch mage144: If neither of you have any questions, I'm going to bed.
EternalDragonAya: Already?
Arch mage144: I'm sick, I'm not staying up any later than I have to.
