When Last We Saw Bethany Kismet (Open)
[insert drama here] which left her completely without her memory and any ability to touch the Force. [insert more drama here, add in a dash of suspense and shake lightly], though now we find her wearing a french maid's costume, polishing items for a paltry sum at the Wayne Mansion on Corellia....
Scene 1:
Bethany scurries into the main foyer, a feather duster in one hand, a damp cloth in the other. The short woman reaches up, desperately trying to reach a mantle that is just out of reach.

Maize? An opportunist? Taking perverse pleasure in watching such a formerly powerful Jedi Master polish and dust his residence? Could it be?
Oh. Yes.
Leaning lazily on the bannister of the imposing staircase at the entrance to the residence, Maize watched with demented glee as Bethany Kismet cleaned his house.
"You missed a spot," he drawled.

She hadn't seen him there, being too intent on the dust and grime that seemed to magically appear as she moved from room to room. It was uncanny really... if she didn't know better she'd think that someone was doing it on purpose.
Bethany jumped slightly, startled, then ducked her head and gave a little curtsey... as she'd been instructed when she'd first received employment here. SHe had noticed however that she seemed to be the only person on staff it was required of. Odd...
"I'll get it immediately Sir," she said, then turned, trying to reach the spot again. Had it gotten higher?

Kassandra had often told Maize that he could have a one-time plaything if he so desired. Their relationship was just odd that way. He'd never been tempted, not in the way that Kass meant. This game though... it was too much fun for the unorthodox Master.
"Good. I'm sure the staff has talked all about what happens to servants who fail me in keeping this place ship-shape..."
Maize waited, hoping for the shudder from her. In truth, nothing happened to their staff; they were among the highest paid in the galaxy for their service as well as their discretion. A great many crazy and potentially embarrassing things happened at Maize Wayne's home after all. His employees were great, and this one was looking to be the best of them all...

While it may not have been obvious to some, Bethany did try to reach higher than before when she heard that. Actually, most of the staff didn't really talk to her, but when they did, she couldn't be sure if they were trying to scare her or not! Though no outward shudder, he was rewarded with a clear step up in her attempt to reach that elusive spot.
She tottered for a moment, almost losing her balance, before reaching out to catch hold of a silver post at the edge of the mantle, leaving fingerprints behind. With a silent sigh, she moved to wipe those off with the damp cloth before pausing to give the out of reach spot a chagrined look.
"May I be excused sir? To retrieve a stool?" She'd also been told to never leave any member of the family's presense without expressed permission.... she didn't like it, but not many people were willing to hire someone with no credentials or history for that matter...

Maize cocked his head, considering. He eyed her up and down, then did so again, letting the seconds tick out between them.
Oh the things I could do to her, he thought.
"Go. But, when you return... there's an outfit I'd like you to try on. I think it would look better on the female staff," Maize said wickedly.
Kass had costumes; surely she would allow this indulgence...

Bethany gave another curtsey, nodding and reponding with a meek, "Yes sir," before scurrying out of the room. Oh she did *not* like the tone of voice he'd used when he'd said that.... not at all. While she hadn't yet met his wife since working here, her reputation as far as she could glean from the household staff was nothing to be trifled with.... hopefully meant just what he said.... please?
She came back two minutes later with a folding stool, bobbed an awkward curtsey as she held it (this was doing nothing good for her knees) and used the step stool to quickly scurry up and get the offending spot.

Chuckling to himself, the twisted Sith Lord transporting himself up the stairs upon Bethany's return. He went rummaging into Kass' massive walk-in closet, knowing that even if she wasn't amused by this, she'd forgive him for it later.
"Here we are," he rumbled softly, drawing out a particular skimpy and exotic costume.
Appropriately, it was for a maid. Whether Bethany believed that it was truly a potential uniform for the entire female half of the staff was immaterial. What would she do? Protest to this? Maize returned downstairs with the skimpy outfit over his arm. He paused at the base of the staircase, watching her teetering atop the stool.
I should have a holo-cam on and sell this footage later, he thought.
"Here we are. Won't you look lovely," Maize said, holding the sexy costume up for her to see.

His disappearance and reappearance, Bethany had to admit, was not reassuring. Sometimes, Mr. Wayne just flat creeped her out.
This was one of those times.
She couldn't help it. The incredulous look she gave him was clear, though she attempted to wipe it from her face a moment later. This job was too good, it paid too well and while sometimes it was a tad creepy, there was nothing to complain about.... was there?
"Is.... is that the underpart of the uniform perchance?" She asked hesitantly.

With a wicked smile, Maize traced the lacy edge of the dark fabric, keeping his senses tuned toward her revulsion. Even if Bethany couldn't remember the Force, he could surely sense her through it.
"Why? You wouldn't dream of a breach of contract would you?" he drawled, continuing to stroke the dress. "It's just an uniform..."

It wasn't 'just a uniform'. Not one little bit. Bethany sucked in a deep breath, then let it out again in one low rush. Chewing on her lower lip for a moment she looked from him to the scrap of fabric in his hand, back to him again. What could she say? She had signed a contract and it was specifically stated that she would wear whatever uniform was provided to her while on duty. She'd read it very carefully, and seen no problem with that clause... until now.
"I just need to try it on sir? Unless you decide to use it for the rest of the staff?"

Oh how delicious it was to make Bethany squirm. They'd had a long ugly history between them, and even if she didn't remember any of that, Maize did. From his earliest days as a Sith, she'd plagued him. This was sweet justice, in his mind.
"Riiight. No one will see you in it but me... for now..." he teased.

Oh by the gods, what did he mean by *that*? Well, she suposed, if they made it uniform they would all have to..... no... they couldn't make this a uniform, she thought, reaching out to gingerly take the skimpy handful of cloth from him. Oh, there was no way....
"Well, alright then.... Um... I'll just head to the 'fresher and change then, shall I sir?" Oh, this was not going well.

He leaned against the bannister again once Bethany was in possession of the costume, grinning wickedly. Maize watched her with undisguised interest; it was a delightful game they were playing, even if she thought him completely serious. Then again, Bethany might have had it right all along, that he was serious.

Kyp sat in a bar, drinking. He didn't usually drink, of course, and especially not when he was down, but he found that allowing alcohol to have some effect on his system dulled the body and mind to unnecessary pain. And, of course, he had just been thrown out of the Jedi Council for the fourth time - the first since he had returned 'from the dead'. He still wasn't certain why he had been expelled; his brief brush with Karma Shanshu, Sophie Maurow and Darth Monnik had left him with a bit of a headache, to say the least. Likewise running into Lord Vanderveld and Lady Razielle on Coruscant a few weeks later gave him a couple of unwarranted marks. And his open declaration that the Jedi Council were betraying the Code wasn't received properly...
...but weren't there plenty of others out there worse than him? At least he was trying to help things. But misunderstandings, it seemed, had cost him again. And if he knew what had gone wrong, he could apologise, but when it was blatantly the fault of the leadership - Jedi Masters knew enough to make good judgement calls, surely? - he had decided not to protest.
So here he was, drinking, wondering where fate would throw him next. Fate, or the Force; neither of which seemed to be on his side at times.

I am not wearing this out. She thought stubbornly, looking at herself in the mirror. No job was worth this! She turned this way and that, looking utterly flabberghasted. There was no way she was wearing this out there?! Seriously, who would dress like this? A slutty serial killer?
Good thing Beth didn't know where the outfit had actually come from....

Maize drummed his fingertips on the bannister, waiting. What was it with women? How long could it take to change into a skimpy nothing anyway? A thought flitted through Maize's mind, wondering if Bethany was getting into this little game and perhaps she was dolling herself up like Kass did?
No. I couldn't be that lucky... he thought.
"Beth-any..." he called out in a sing-song voice, "Where are you?"

Maize gnashed his teeth. Of course, right then was when she'd have to call back out to him. Now Korran would realize Bethany was here for sure.
Maybe that won't be too bad though anyway...

Beth almost felt her eyes crossing for a moment at his reply. Had she expected anything less? Not really. Well, at least she could rely on the small comfort that it would only be her employer seeing her dressed like this, right?
Oh course as soon as she left the refresher, she had a rude awakening. For a moment, she just stared at them both, like a durni caught in the headlights of a swoop bike. In a flash, she tried to turn and slip back into the 'fresher but.... the door was locked! How did that happen!?!

Maize couldn't hide his smirk. Though he'd never held anything but contempt for her and had certainly not felt any romantic stirrings toward Bethany, Maize had to admit that she did look quite fetching in her sexy, little maid costume. That she was so flustered made it even better.
Giving Korran a wicked grin before turning his attention back to Bethany, he said, "I'd tell you to get the man here a drink, but this is more than we bargained for, hm?"

Korran growled as he rose back up and looked around. When he saw Bethany appear he had to raise an eyebrow. What on earth? (good question, what is on earth... let alone what is earth) Bethany doesn't dress like that.. What is going on!
Needless to say, Korran was confused. "I don't want a drink I want the rent paid! She knews full well that Scuro and Sky are worth nothing in terms of making money and I uh... gamble mine away... but... yeah. Stop shirking your responsibilities, Beth!"

Grinning wickedly, Maize reached over to pat Beth's shoulder reassuringly. He turned that gaze on Korran and stalked toward him.
"I know, dear, I know. That's why this deranged door-to-door salesman is on his way out..."
And with another violent Force Push, he sought to send the fellow Master packing!
