New Post Unorthodox Progression: Shakti's Knighting (invite = TSC)
Coruscant

If it was going to be done, it was going to be done in style. In Unorthodox style to be sure, but such was Maize's way. The Sith Master had made the arrangements himself at an expensive, appropriate Coruscanti restaurant; Shaki would be the guest of honor and at the dinner, he would make his announcement to those invited Sith who'd joined them.

Yes, this will work out well, he thought.

Maize returned to the Governor's residence, asking Virgil to tell Shakti that she was expected for dinner. He left his apprentice to her own devices most of the time, so this was significant and he knew that Shakti would know that. Maize then sought out Kassandra and told her that the plans were finalized for the evening. The Sith on Coruscant had been given an open invitation and he'd given advance notice to those on Korriban and other worlds; Maize wasn't sure if they'd come, but they were invited at any rate.

"Get ready, take the speeder down so we arrive moments after the others and show the Sith how a ceremony ought to be done," he said with a low chuckle as he stripped out of his day clothes and headed for the fresher.

Shakti'd been lying on her floor with her head tilted back, watching daytime holoserials upside-down when Virgil had knocked. She couldn't suppress some mild annoyance at being disturbed. Rehan had been about to admit to Clarissa that he'd fathered the child of her identical twin while he'd been in a coma, but Shakti was going to miss the explanation for just how in the hell the kid had turned out to be a Rodian.

"Oh, Virgil," Shakti said after answering the door. "Dinner ready?"

As it turned out, this wasn't the usual call to grab some food and eat it alone with a book in front of her at the table. Something was going on. She didn't see much of Maize, as he didn't seem to have much time for her except during her actual training. This was notable. "Wait, you mean dinner out?" Virgil nodded. "....I see."

Somewhat at a loss for what to wear, Shakti managed to wheedle out of the Waynes' manservant that she needed to put something together befitting the station of her benefactors. When she and Kass had gone shopping, it had taken a great deal of time and effort to find something "appropriate" that didn't show long open spans of bare skin.

Finding a compromise between showing off the Waynes' affluence and showing none of herself had been a tricky proposition, but Shakti was dedicated and eventually found something. The dress she chose was an elegant close-fitting gown with a matching jacket and long skirts that swirled around her ankles. Trusting in the high collar of the jacket to hide the burn scars on the back of her neck, Shakti pulled her hair back behind her head tightly and twisted it up securely.

Her deeply-tanned skin seemed to glow against the rich black fabric, and Shakti topped it off with a little smokey eyeshadow and the deep red lipstick Kassandra had insisted she buy. She had to admit... Kass had been right. It looked good, and Shakti couldn't help but start a little at her own reflection when she was done.

I look like a woman, she thought. How weird is that...

Her features, ordinarily so sharp and severe, took on a refined and almost elegant look when framed in carefully-tailored black. Man......

She blinked. What would Sal say?

Razielle sat at a small vanity, brushing her long dark hair until it crackled, the fading light of sunset shone through the wide window of her Coruscant Temple bedchamber. The rays set blue and red highlights shimmering through the raven locks as she finished, setting the brush down. She uncorked a small lavender bottle, dabbing a bit of the exotic oil behind her ears and on each wrist, pressing them together. The smell of crushed blossoms floated up to her as she inhaled the sensual fragrance.

They were not in residence at the Temple so much at present, but had been invited to attend the affair by Lord Thanatos. It also gave Razielle a chance to meet up with her mentor, Mistress Saevitia.

Razielle turned sideways in the seat, sliding her feet into heeled black satin shoes. She pulled the detached sleeves that matched her dress over her wrists and up her arms, then fastened the choker around her pale throat. The dress she would require help fastening. She folded it over her arm, loving the silky feel of the sheer material. Razielle rose, wearing only what she had recently put on. The dress did not allow for more.

Her eyes fell on Vega, who was laying in their bed, arms folded behind his head while he silently watched her with a predatory look. She bit her lip, torn between the desire to finish getting ready, or simply crawl across her husband and call it a night. She took the dress with her, padding over to his side of their bed and sitting down. She set the dress down and leaned over him, taking his bottom lip in her teeth, nibbling. When his arms came up to tumble her across the bed she laughed and let him.

"We'll be late..", she warned...

“And...?”

Vega grinned, quite clearly undaunted by the terrifying prospect of being late. He walked two fingers slowly across the bare skin of her stomach, the tips only just tickling the flesh with a promise of what was to come. Razielle looked defiant all the while, trying her best to seem stern.

Whilst she longed to blend herself into the Coruscanti social-circles of the Wayne family, such urbane relations were the farthest thing from Vega's mind, at all times. They with exact opposites in such things, with Vega having quickly developed a reputation as a taciturn man with little time for small talk and pleasantries. What good humor there was in his character seemed to be solely reserved for the Lady herself – and it was for this reason that he relented, in spite of his desire to do otherwise.

“Oh, alright,” Vega groaned, falling back onto the bed with an overdrawn sigh. The sooner they were both ready, the sooner they could have their meal and return to the privacy of their chambers. The Sith Master was already dressed - he had been for some time, in an outfit that did little to conceal his true nature. Now it was simply a matter of slipping Razielle into her own comparatively sumptuous attire for the evening. Holding up one finger, he gestured for her to turn around.

“On with it.”

Maize was garbed in his usual Corellian attire. Dark pants minus the bloodstripes, a white tucked-in tunic and a dark vest over the shirt. Visible around his neck was a mix-hued pendant that never left his person; it was the symbol of his marriage to Kassandra. He'd clipped his dual-blade lightsaber to his belt and then headed down to the common living area of the residence to wait on Kass, and Shakti.

He smiled smugly to know that Shakti had no idea what was going on. She was a bright apprentice, and gifted, but this would catch her by surprise, Maize knew.

The Sith Master tapped his heel impatiently as he waited on both women. What took them so long anyway?

The Mistress' mass of silken raven curls hung loose to the delicate curve of her lower back. She twisted in every direction she could, glancing at her silhouette in her full length mirror and muttering softly. "Up it will have to be..." she said softly, perching on her vanity's plush little stool once more. With artistic precision, she swept her curls up and pinned them in place, diamonds winking amidst the raven mass atop her hairpins. Several loose tendrils brushed her shoulders, left on purpose as it was Maize's wont to often curl his fingers in her loose locks.

Standing up one more, she stepped over to the mirror and pronounced herself ready. A long, tightly-fitted satin gown hugged her lusciously maintained curves, showing them off to perfection. The scandalously low scooped back showed off the mark at the base of her spine, the crimsons and black blood-ink formed into the intricate Sith script of 'Darth Thanatos', Maize's personal sigil. A graceful vine of blood-tipped thorns and deep roses was etched up her spine, directly over the only scar remaining from her childhood, masking it completely.

Kass' ever-present Cerean crystal pendant, wrought in intricate twisted metal and cortosis ore pulsed with a light of its own, nestled in the hollow of her throat. Her engagement pendant, that she could count the times it had been removed from her skin over the years on one hand. She smiled and nodded, well pleased with her reflection as she fastened matching blood-crystals to her ears. A touch of dark kohl for her eyes and deep red gloss for her lips, and she was ready.

The Mistress plucked a black velvet case from her vanity alongside her purse, and tucked her saber hilts into the small crimson silk bag. She made her way down to where Maize waited, coming around the curve in the grand stairs and pausing as her breath left her briefly. Never fail, the sight of him always made her heart skip a beat, doubly so when he'd taken such pains with his appearance.

She smiled softly, walking over to join him, lightly kissing the skin at the hollow of his throat, above his pendant. "You look magnificent, my love...is Shakti down yet?" Kass purred softly.

Maize shook his head, smiling anyway. "No, you look magnificent, Love..."

He wrapped an arm around her, his fingers tracing the visible marque on her lower back. Those scholarly Sith would recognize the script reading his Sith name, Darth Thanatos, etched in ink and blood on her fair skin. He bore the same sort of marque on his lower back, the script reading her's, Darth Saevitia.

"And no... waiting on Shakti still. I've left her to her own devices for so long that I'm sure Virgil threw her for a loop now. She should be down shortly and we'll head on to Bontheris."

Shakti mercifully didn't meet Virgil in the hall on her way to meet the Waynes. It gave her more time to steel herself for being publicly seen in such unfamiliar finery. That and there was an unnerving whisper from the corner of Shakti's mind where she was still a young woman deeply insecure about her appearance. Tonight her waspish tongue wouldn't be able to deflect people's attention from her looks, and there wasn't any way around that. She just had to hope that she didn't look as out-of-place as she felt.

Gah. There's this element of "look Mommy I can dress myself!" that's kind of pissing me off. Can't I just wear jeans? She clenched her teeth and shook her head. If Shakti couldn't count on her own brazen bravado, what could she count on? No. She looked fine, and if anyone thought otherwise she would cut them down until they were too frustrated to pay attention.

There was no deflecting attention as Shakti made her way down the stairs toward Kass and Maize, and she felt like one of the school-aged ingenues in her holoserials, getting ready for her class formal. I need to stop watching those. They're making me neurotic.

Her foot hit the bottom step and her skirt whispered around her ankles as she stopped near her benefactors. Her toes tightened nervously in her heels. She gave a tight, self-conscious little smile. "So, um. This... is... kind of sudden." She tugged on her earlobe a little awkwardly and raised her eyebrows. "So... what's going on?"

Maize contemplated how to respond. He decided to keep his element of surprise until the critical moment. "We have dinner reservations. Let's get going."

With a wink at Kass, he rested his hand on her lower back and escorted both women to the chauffered airspeeder. The ride to Bontheris would be a brief one; it was within the district and thus not much of a ride.

They were dropped off at the catwalk's "curb" and Maize helped both of the ladies in his life out of the transport. It was early evening now on Coruscant and the sun had set far enough to cast deep shadows in the vertical city.

"Ah, Master Wayne... so good to see you again."

He grinned. "All is in arrangement?"

"Of course, my Lord. Follow me, please. Your tables are at the ready."

The pilot droid was given their destination and, within moments, Razielle and Vega were ensconced in the back seat of an elegant black air speeder. Whether or not the privacy screen had been up, she would have hardly cared about their robotic company. It wouldn't have stopped her from enjoying the spare moments they had while they were en route. Razielle tucked her feet to the side, turning so that she could face Vega and easily converse.

Razielle could feel his thoughts, as easily if they were her own. Impressions and emotion that buzzed between them, palpable like static. It was a handy means of communication they possessed, a residual effect of a former affliction they both shared simultaneously. She knew he was not looking forward to the evening at hand with the same thrill that she was. She also got the distinct impression that he didn't know exactly what she was looking forward to.

It was true, for however short a time she had been gently bred among nobility. She had mannerisms that at some times were soft and elegant, belying the violent nature that often ruled her. Even in last years with her former master, Acheron, they had lived in relative opulence on Pydyr as the old Sith had turned recluse, walled up in a manor, seeking a means to prolong his ending life. As a result, she was a curious mixture of grace and brutality, having lived in both splendor and squalor.

She ran the pads of her fingers lightly over the muscled contour of his arm. "You are wrong you know." At the curious look he shot her, Razielle continued.

"It's not the Wayne's lives, finances or social standing that I covet. It's Lady Wayne, herself.. Ever since awakening, on our way to Korriban all that time ago I have desired to learn from her. She has a command over sorcery that few can claim. I admire her greatly, and Aurelia. Without them both, who knows where we may have been today.." She laughed..

"Yes I'm waxing sentimental, I know. I just feel I owe much to Mistress Saevitia."

It was impossible to deny. Had it not been for the help provided by Aurelia and Kassandra, they might never have escaped from the oppressive hold of the Killik swarm, yet... hearing Razielle speak so fondly of the Sith Mistress, Vega found a small inexplicable pang of jealousy stirring in the back of his mind. His eyes turned away, to the speeder's darkened windows and the blur of lights that flashed beyond the glass.

Some part of him resented that she sought the counsel of others. It was an unusual feeling, and not one that he had ever known before. For so many years, he and Prometheus – his master and mentor – had lived alone, apart from the galaxy. Even his brief tryst with the Jedi Knight N'thia Brevil had taken place in isolation, both of them completely consumed with one another in a self-destructive passion. When the time had come to return to civilization, Vega had found the transition frustrating, and still grew bitter at having to share the galaxy all with so many others.

Razielle gave his arm a faint squeeze. He frowned and blinked away the moment of introspection, realizing then that the speeder had come to a halt.
