A'den smiled. Even if this man was a Jetii, he seemed a warrior at heart. He raised the empty glass as answer to the man's question.
"Aye, I suppose I am better off than some, but hey, if those people try hard enough, friends aren't impossible to find, brother, you just got to open up a bit." He loosened his tie a bit. He hated the @#%$ thing, but it was a necessary part of the outfit.
"So, why did you come to this party on an icicle? It doesn't seem to be the kind of place you are accustomed to."
Re: This Calls for a Celebration! (Open, no fighting)
Someone was being thoughtless. Someone was being unkind.
... and yet, of all the somebody's, they were treating such so to Jacelyn's very much adored and most precious apprentice.
While Jacelyn had little mind to play babysitter to Ishta, her dark orbs could not have helped but to notice Ishta and her entrance. Prime's mistress had arrived mere moments before herself wearing a gown that expressed her curves quite nicely.
Prime's physical appearance left Verdon aroused, but such an idea was of no secret. Jacelyn had always found Ishta appealing.
It was the liitle matter of seeing Ishta with another that achingly tugged at Verdon's being. Knowing that she could not afford to complicate matters for herself, her lover, and for Prime, Jacelyn loved her student from afar, while Verdon tormented herself on the inside because of it.
Two women she loved, and only one could she keep. Neither female had any idea, and Jacelyn intended to keep it that way. The idea that it should be such a way came unexpectedly.
By being selfish and accepting the temptations which were offered to her, with permission from one. Now she was suffering for it. She blamed no one but herself.
Yet there it was again, temptation, her precious apprentice's date looked as if she'd found another to her fancy, not having any regard for how it would leave Ishta to feel. Another was making Ishta's date blush, not only that but she was entertaining Oren, too!
Well, Jacelyn would just have to see to it that she stirred things up a bit. She could only hope that her beloved would understand her burning need to comfort her apprentice as only she could do. Prime could certainly use the personal stimulation, with a liitle something to cheer her up. Yet she would make the moment up to her beloved Tiara many times over. Jacelyn just couldn't let Ishta's wonderful night be ruined. She just couldn't!
Stretching her mind outward, Jacelyn allowed her aura to encircle Ishta, her voice capturing itself with Prime's mind; if only because of the personal bond they shared with one another as master and apprentice.
Not only were the words there, but the visuals as well. All hopes out of all hopes, Jacelyn wanted to see Prime blush in kind, more so than Oren herself could ever do. Shamefully, the Sith Knight was both a selfish and greedy individual, but not always. Tonight, she honestly did mean well.
You are even more beautiful now than when I first set eyes upon you my apprentice. Oren is a very lucky woman to have you as her date. She should feel so honored even. Yet allow her to have the first dance with her new friend should she choose to do so. Then think of me and give me the wonderful honor of basking in your lovely company with the first dance; for I have noticed you, and I have asked.
Then the visual came. How she did not truly intend to tease Ishta so! The idea was to allow her student to know that she was not being left out. She wanted to somehow mend the female's special night however she could. That she too deserved to blush just as much as Oren did.
So it was that Jacelyn showed Prme delicate fingers to curve up and over slender shoulders that of which belonged to Ishta. Smooth and slow caresses of fingers as Jacelyn's hands came over the female's shoulders from behind, only to guide themselves with teasing yet tender pleasure, slowly across the entire length of Prime's collarbone.
In the image, Jacelyn's lips were ever so closely curved to Ishta's left ear, whispering.
Dance with me... I won't leave you to regret it.
Lips hung, tickling the back of Ishta's ear delightedly, if only on imagination alone.
The choice was Ishta's. Whatever result, in the end, Jacelyn would respect it. She just didn't want Prime to feel left all alone.

Ishta could feel Oren slipping from her, seeking out this Jedi instead. It was irritating and humiliating - her mother would never take such abuse. All the same, she was charged with minding her manners this night. She was not to give the new chancellor a reason to dislike the Sith: their blind and petty prejudices were to stand on their own for what they were.
Suddenly Prime felt the mental touch of her mistress, and she didn't have to take Oren's neglect any more. There was only a moment's regret: she did find Oren attractive both physically and for her intelect. All the same - Ishta couldn't accept being the alternative for who Oren really wanted. Without word or sound Ishta faded into the crowd, backing away and turning about to where the familiar comfort of her mistress waited.
Re: This Calls for a Celebration! (Open, no fighting)
Alema asked for a glass of chimbak wine, a thick red from Alderaan. It was expensive, but she figured that in the spirit of the evening it was important to have something a little extravagant. The other blessing was that she wouldn't be expected to throw the wine back, and she could take all evening on one drink without anyone questioning why.
"Yeah, none of these people are really holding my attention," Alema answered. "Maybe in a few minutes I'll have the patience to continue an uphill battle for attention from my escort." She gave an exaggerated sigh and a dramatic resigned shrug before letting herself slip back into a smile. She'd seen Savin eyeing Serrena for a while now, and the dancer hadn't exactly been discouraging his attentions. If he took the opportunity to spend time with Serrena instead of with his date, Alema wasn't sure if she'd be relieved or infuriated.
"So. For now I'm retreating to less frustrating company." She toasted Serrena with her glass. "What about you? You've left your usual trail of stricken men in your wake, yet I find you over here by yourself. What's up?"
Re: This Calls for a Celebration! (Open, no fighting)
A quiet sadness filled Jacelyn as she tried to connect her presence with Prime's, her hands falling to her shoulders. How she would secretly give anything to see Ishta happy again.
Places within her were torn for she wanted to be the only one to do so and yet, another part of her wanted the woman to be happy in Oren's arms, just as Ishta wanted.
"I'm sorry, perhaps I should have minded my own business. You long to enjoy Oren's company. Perhaps she will quickly learn the error of her ways and return to you. Yet I cannot help but to want to mend your wounds, for you are extremely precious to me, Ishta.. and there isn't anything I would not do for you."
Her words hinted towards the secrets of truth.
A warm arm wrapped its way confidently around Ishta's waist, knowing that with recovery, Prime could easily find her way back into Oren's arms again if Ishta allowed it.
The deepest and darkest of places within Verdon wanted to forbid Prime from seeking comforts from anyone else, to keep her. It was something the female would never do, she had no right.
The unknown words that could change everything tempted to roll out and off Jacelyn's tongue as she embraced Ishta in her tender warmth. She would leave to break no one's heart but her own. Her own personal torture and suffering was enough, but yet she had the two women she loved ever so close by and that would have to be enough.
Jacelyn's other arm drifted to support the back of Prime's neck, her hand cupping the area to pull Ishta even closer. She whispered in her ear, moved by the single embrace.
"I miss you."
Words spoken so gently, knowing they were meant to express so much. Did Ishta have any idea just how much she truly meant to Jacelyn?

(IC) Kat swayed along with James and smiled up at him. "So are you missing the Lion any? I know you probably made a lot of friends while you were there." Kat loved to hear about his past and learn about him. His life had been full of excitment, he was after all a pirate.

James thought about his life for a moment before replying. His life aboard the Lion had been brief, but filled with good times...and near misses. He was happy there sure, and he had made friends he hoped to have forever, but it was a different life than he led now.
"I miss Capt'n Malachite. He's a good man, and I hope I never have to be in a situation where we cross blades, but aside from him and a few others, not really. It was exciting, but not as fulfilling you know?" He paused for a moment, then said with a smile,. "There were some good times though."
Re: This Calls for a Celebration! (Open, no fighting)
(IC) Kat listend to him talk and could tell that he was thinking about all the good times he had on the Lion. She knew that he missed the Captain and she also hoped they never had to cross blades with him. "I bet you have tons of funny stories."
She smiled at him and swayed softly to the music. She had eyed the crowd for signs of anyone she recognized looking for Mist. Last she checked her other padawan had hoped to come with a date but so far she had not turned up.
"Well love I'm sure your going to make lots more friends and live a very fulfiling life as a Jedi."

Jacelyn's warmth was so comforting and desirable. Prime wanted nothing other than to return to her mistress any time she was desired; and Jacelyn seemed to want this too. There were others that caught the young apprentice's eye as well, and her appetities were growing more diverse daily. All the same, she wasn't one to give up an old desire just because a new one came along.
"You would miss me less, if you promised not to neglect Tiara this time ..."
Re: This Calls for a Celebration! (Open, no fighting)
Reality was that Jacelyn had been spending very little time with both lover and apprentice. Little Ishta's teasings had left Jacelyn in a world of sudden seclusion. Lost in a shell she was trying to break free from.
"Your innocence is a treasure, Ishta."
If only Jacelyn could think and feel so simply as Ishta did. Yet her heart was in everything, She wondered if it should be her very own heart that would destroy her.
Jacelyn could not dare to break her hands free from where they rested, fearing temptation. So she kept herself to dance with Ishta, remaining to try and hold her as a loving mother would do.
She wanted more. So much more.
My heart bleeds for both you and Tiara, and if either of you should ever turn your heart and soul to another, I shall die. I will be no more, even if I should somehow go on living.
Those were the words of thought that Jacelyn wanted to share with Ishta but she could not. Instead, she carried on with other words of sincerity; words that, however true, hurt her to say.
"I hope you're enjoying your freedom while learning much through your personal interactions."

Re: This Calls for a Celebration! (Open, no fighting)"Is there something I can help you with?"
" My appology...if anything if you would allow me to say buy you a drink mylady or something?"
Arin's focus danced wildly. She was now surrounded by acquaintences who could instantly blow her cover. It seemed that her appearance was different enough to throw them off for the moment, but she needed something more. Acting on a hunch, she smiled and folded each of her would-be attendants into an arm, creating a happy little group.
"Such kind and polite gentlemen - I couldn't possibly choose between you. Perhaps you could each buy me a drink, if you are so inclined?"
She made a point of tickling Kai's wrist with her fingers. Hopefully she could get him to stick around. She liked Ronin as a friend, but that was as a friend.
Re: This Calls for a Celebration! (Open, no fighting)I can tell why she has to disguise herself. People like Kallis wouldn't stop until he caught her. Kai thought, it wasn't smart for somebody that was probably labeled an enemy of the Republic to come to the party celebrating the new Chancellor. But Arin was always a free spirit, which was another way of saying that she was the type that didn't seem to mind putting herself in danger on a normal basis.
At least with Kai around, there might be somebody to make sure that she's alright. The senator chuckled slightly, realizing the implications of that. He loved her, and he had taken it on himself to make himself her own person guard. But as always, he knew that she could take care of herself. A small sigh, then he grinned as he saw Arin smile.
"Such kind and polite gentlemen - I couldn't possibly choose between you. Perhaps you could each buy me a drink, if you are so inclined?"
"It would be my pleasure." Rubbing his fingers lightly against her wrist, he turned towards one of the waiters that were carrying drinks around. "I shall be right back." He said as he walked over, looking for a specific drink. The senator had always heard how good Blossom wine was, but had never tried it. A few minutes later, he had a glass in hand, and was walking back towards Arin.
"For you." Simply stated as he handed her the glass. After all, he was going to be smart about this. He didn't want to get her in trouble, so he had to think out what he said. After all, Kallis was the type that would be watching everything. The senator couldn't act as he normally would around his love. For now he would only hold her hand, a smile on his face.

By then it, seem as he waited for her to reply at the same time keeping a weary eye. On the surrounding area and making sure, the coast was clear for them to talk. For if anything, Ronin was a man of his word, principle and was not one know to think lightly or disregard. For whatever the case be… a Life debts he still had with her. Arin, who having facilitated in not only giving him a second chance in life. With her help he still lived and able to make amends. But if anything, she was a friend nothing more and his heart still lied with someone else. Who till now he had no idea where she was or if anything of it was real…but still held hope in their meeting.
“My apology...if anything if you would allow me to say buy you a drink milady or something?"
But then soon enough as he took note that none had notice them. He could help but notice her focus danced wildly. Around towards their surrounding, seem also keeping and eye. As if, seem weary that some acquaintances who could perhaps seem blow her cover. This perhaps made him think his instinct was right and this was her indeed.
In which case thinking fast and not wanting to endanger her further. Knowing with the incident of Hapes still fresh in everyone memory. She would not be safe if ever found out and so he kept silent. Seeing hers smile and folded each of her arms round two, others arm, creating a happy little group.
"Such kind and polite gentlemen - I couldn't possibly choose between you. Perhaps you could each buy me a drink, if you are so inclined?"
But then it seem Senator Kai made himself know and replied.
"It would be my pleasure."
To which he then nod and replied as he notice on the corner of his eye. Him rubbing his fingers lightly against her wrist.
“… Ah, see then guess my apology madam and hope I was not intruding. But then again I ….”
He then notice Kai move to turn towards one of the waiters carrying.
"I shall be right back."
In which case as he then walked over, looking for a specific drink. Seem distracted off for a moment he chance the moment. Lean over to her side to seem that he had lost his footing even though. This was deliberate and was done so he could be close enough to whisper to her.
‘…glad to see you well…and must say...am in debt to you for help me out before…least to say as a friend…let me return the favor when the time comes…’
He then right himself up just in time and seem in embarrassment seem embarrass for loosing his footing. And all that he quickly turn to apologize…
“…my apology … guess I had much to drink lately but …”
By then the senator had return with a glass in hand, and was walking back towards Arin.
"For you."
To which seeing the look he had for her Ronin didn’t need to think twice. And slowly made his choice and turn to her.
“Now I guess best I excuse myself…”
He then held out a hand towards her and with a slight of hand. Ronin learn when he still ply the backwater worlds as a Hunter. He secretly handed her a data chip and hope her well. And then turn towards Kai then spoke.
“…well then best leave.”
He then leans over to his side as well and whispered.
'…pulled what I could regarding the docket they have of…should help our friend get out of trouble for a little while… and oh. If I may suggest…door on the right…balcony…discreet and close to a good quick exit…Keep then off your back if they suspect…'
He then with a nod replied.
“Best of luck buddy…”
He then turn and let then be as he turn to give them some time alone.

Re: This Calls for a Celebration! (Open, no fighting)"Andros and I...are no longer...together." Serrena replied softly, her delay in speaking making her words come out somewhat less stricken. She downed the rest of the glass and motioned the bartender over.
"Durindfire...and make it strong this time..." the dancer said, flipping the second empty glass of the evening back into the hapless man's outsretched fingers.
Glowing crimson orbs shifted to gaze up at Alema, their expression flat and unreadable. "Beautiful dress...who's the designer?"
Re: This Calls for a Celebration! (Open, no fighting)
Oren blushed as her cheeks were kissed. She had never had any affection shown towards her except for her family, and now both Ishta and Mist. It was new, and likable at the same time. But then she felt Ishta's presence leave her. She turned to see her walking away and giving her affections to another. A single tear slid down her cheek. A single tear of confusion. What had she done? She had wanted to enjoy the night with Ishta, but now it seemed that she was alone.
Bringing her arm up, she wiped the tear away from her cheek. Turning to Mist, a broken smile crept onto her cheek. It seemed that this girl was attracted to her, and for some reason, she was attracted to this girl. It was more than just her looks. Something inside her longed for this girl, and she didn't even know her. It was like a base attraction amplified beyond its known limits.
"I'd love the first dance, but for now, I'd like to go and get a drink please."
Re: This Calls for a Celebration! (Open, no fighting)
Alema nodded in response to Serrena's explanation, realization spreading across her features. So there was a reason the normally-lively young dancer was sitting alone and drinking. Alema's jaw tensed, but it was the only outward sign of disapproval she allowed herself. Alema herself had only been in one real relationship, and while Alema could understand the disappointment and feeling of abandonment that came with a breakup, her experiences with this sort of thing were indirect at best.
Still. If there was one thing Alema did know when she saw it, it was someone trying to deal with hardship by soaking their brains in whatever mind-altering chemicals came along. It didn't matter whether this breakup was Andros or Serrena's fault. Alema didn't have enough information and it didn't actually matter anyway. She had a feminine obligation to Serrena to offer the younger woman whatever support she could.
The Twi'lek turned to answer Serrena's question, opened her mouth, and immediately rethought it. She didn't necessarily want to keep Serrena over here and drinking. This was neither the time nor place for a serious discussion of Serrena's love life, and in the absence of conversation, Alema could at least give her a healthy way to take her mind off her troubles.
"Listen," Alema said instead. "We're both here for ourselves, and as far as I'm concerned, we've got no reason to let men get in the way." She laid a hand over Serrena's and her expression softened. "Whatever they may have done. So... what say you and I go have some fun,"...away from the alcohol, Alema finished to herself. She tilted her head and gave a quick listen to the music playing. It would do. "You in? I think I can lead a waltz okay."

Although she was a fraction too slow to tenderly wipe the tear from Oren's cheek, Mist could feel the strong resonance between them. Almost as if they were destined to be together.
She smiled and offered Oren her hand. "Drinks are on me then. Lets see what this place has to offer"
Re: This Calls for a Celebration! (Open, no fighting)
Oren smiled and took Mist's hand. Entwining her fingers with those of the other girl's, she looked at her in the eyes. Bringing her free hand to the back of Mist's neck, she pulled her close and kissed her lightly on the cheek. "Thanks," she whispered.
Then, turning her attention back to the festivities, she started walking with Mist, up the steps to the entrance of the Mygeeto Hotel. "Where do you think the drinks will be?"

Oren's kiss sent waves of joy cascading through Mist. It didn't matter that the contact between lips and cheek was fleeting. It was fantastic... except that it made it slightly hard to concentrate on a big, poncy, crowded room.
About the only people that she wanted to see were Kat and James, who were already dancing.
A quick inspection allowed her to pinpoint the bar on the far side of the ballroom. "There it is", she said, indicating the bar with her free hand. "I wonder what this place calls a decent drink"
Re: This Calls for a Celebration! (Open, no fighting)
"Well, besides their various alcoholic drinks, they serve some very good juices."
She took her hand and led her to the bar and sat her down. "I've got a room up above. Perhaps we can visit that later." She trailed her finger along the center of Mist's back.

Ishta caught sight of Oren as she danced with her instructor. She seemed so happy - irritatingly happy, in a way. Why was she invited to this if her date really wanted to be with someone else? It seemed such a waste of her own time and energy to prepare herself and improving her appearance so if Oren was just going to leave her. As much as she cared for Jacelyn, her teacher had already seen that Ishta wasn't pretty - anything she would attempt for her would be a lie.
"I am learning a great deal through my encounters with others, though enjoyment does not seem to be a part of that."
Re: This Calls for a Celebration! (Open, no fighting)
Had Jacelyn actually been able to hear Prime's thoughts, another sort of sadness would have filled her. Still, an understanding soul; she would have accepted Ishta's point of view.
The dance ended which brought Jacelyn to soften her grip. The hand that had cupped Ishta's neck drew back to wrap and drift forward to linger along her apprentice's jawline. With thumb and index finger, delicately she lifted Prime's chin, locking her eyes with the other female. A gesture to gain Ishta's complete focus.
"Maybe not right now, but you do have the power to change that, Ishta. Think about what it is you truly want from this gathering and go after it. Nothing truly has been lost here unless you believe that it has. You have the time and the means to correct what is bothering you here. So take the moment and make it yours again, no one else can really do that for you, only you can."
Jacelyn found herself stepping away slightly, realizing only then that there was nothing she could truly do to make Ishta happy. Ishta had to find her own happiness. Still, Verdon saw nothing wrong with wishing.
Her hands fell to her side and she smiled faintly.
"I'm here should you need anything, Ishta."
The time to let go had finally come, Verdon thought for herself. If Ishta needed or wanted anything from her, she'd find her own way to Jacelyn.
"I sincerely do hope that you enjoy the rest of your evening."

Re: This Calls for a Celebration! (Open, no fighting)
Ishta was at a loss as Jacelyn let go of her. The words seemed to indicate that she was being dismissed, or directed back the way she came. Prime nodded and turned about to move back into the crowd.
Jacelyn's words weren't harsh, but they were deeply painful. Ishta found people quite confusing, and the people around her doubly so. Oren had invited her to this celebration, only to turn away to the first pretty face she saw. Prime could tolerate it because her mistress was near - only now to be directed to leave to explore. The trouble was, Ishta didn't want to explore: she wanted someone to spend the evening with someone who cared about her. She thought that would be Oren; but as her eyes caught sight of her date with the Jedi Padiwan, she knew that would be unlikely. Oren was enjoying the Jedi's company far too much.
Prime's eyes and heart burned with hate at the sight, yet the Sith did nothing. Her mother's directive was specific and wholely overriding of anything she could do ... No Fighting! Any conflict at the reception would be in direct defiance to her mother's orders, and Tiara would never allow such impertinence to go unpunished. She turned away from the sight of Oren and Mist, completely at a loss. Instead she moved to a balcony where quiet and fresh air could be found: she needed time and space to think.
The evening was pretty much ruined for Ishta. Now all she could do was to contemplate her failures and figure out a way home, since obviously she wouldn't be leaving the way she came.
