The time was now, people hurrying in and out of the ballroom of the Mygeeto Hotel. Scurrying to make sure everything was perfect. Tables decorated and filled with silverware, napkins folded just right and two carafes of wine upon every table. A large area of the ballroom was reserved for dancing and of the like. The quartet would play during dinner and then an actual band would play afterwards for dancing and more drinks.

The place started filling up quickly and the guest of honor was still in his room at the hotel. He'd done a plethora of events like this, but for him to be the one the people trusted and relied on. The authority actually hit him, and it made him shiver quite a bit. He also knew very little people outside of the ones he'd dealt with daily on Republic matters. Then there was one more thing, the lovely vision that was Elisabeth. He could hardly believe the woman accepted his invite to the ball of his induction. He only hoped he could live up to her expectation.

He was almost ready putting on his suit for the gala. He could only imagine how she'd have dressed. Something that will knock him off of his feet and that would keep his eyes far from his dignitaries and right where they should be, on her. It was almost time for him to pick her up in the designated hotel room that he'd rented for her. Butterflies loaded his stomach as he left the room and proceeded to walk down the hall.

He stood there now, staring at the door. Holding his breath, he finally managed the nerves to knock upon it.

The room was buzzing with activity as workers raced around to ensure everything went to plan. Sloane and his security team were doing a final sweep of the venue for the safety of the new Chancellor. All doors and windows had been checked , under table and chairs and despite the request for people to be on their best behaviour each member of security was armed with a stun gun. Sloane finished up and made his way to the door for the arrival of Chancellor Arden.

Outside the suite window, the world was white and cold. Ice crystals clung to the bowed planks of hotel buttresses in great clusters, like candied sugar sticks. A breath of frost framed the window glass, thin diamond fingers reaching out toward the pane’s center. A little thermo cleaning droid appeared out of Mygeeto’s mist and landed on frozen glaze, eating the frost like a hungry insect devourers leaves.

Sophie Maurow turned away from the window and the busy, mechanical ice bug. She strolled easy to the vanity mirror, dipped a slender brush into a chianti-red blotch on her cosmetics palette and retouched the color of her lips. The Sith Mistress straightened, twisted to appraise the lines of her onyx-hued dress, and cast a blasé glance across the room, seeking out her gloves.

Another day, another formal affair... more business than pleasure, as usual. Thankfully, she would have the pleasure of re-acquainting herself with an old colleague. Kael Arden had recently been appointed Supreme Chancellor of the Republic. Surprising news, but not unwelcome. Sophie was aware the gentleman studied political theory at Coruscant University, but she had no idea he was so ambitious. His induction was advantageous... at least, she hoped it would be. For too long, the Sith had been alienated from main-stream galactic politics. Perhaps, with Kael’s influence, things would finally change.

Alphonse walked into the hotel, noticing the beauty of the architecture, and the numerous people. He had decided against wearing his traditional robes, and instead wore a simple black shirt, slacks and tie, along with his normal black leather riding boots.

He saw tonight as a reinvention. He had been changing, slowly at first but now by leaps , from the sleepless, guilt-ridden man he had been when he had entered the Jedi Temple for the first time. He was letting go of his past, in no small part due to a fight on Bespin that had caused the loss of his right arm, and his old Lightsaber. It had been a symbol of the Sith he had been. With it gone, he had shed much of his old self. Confronting his past, and growing stronger for it.

Darth Draconum looked out the window of his luxury transport. It cruised over the frozen surface of Mygeeto as if the great canyons and fissures of ice did not even exist. The interior of this transport had been decorated with dark wood and the great seal with a red "T" at the center. This was the crest of the Tolaris Noble Family. His family owned a mineral processing center out on Mygeeto, so he was able to stash the Juggernaut there.

A voice drifted over the speakers in his compartment adressing him, "Sir Fenix. We are nearing the hotel and will be there within minutes." Draconum smiled and pushed a button as he said, "Thank you, Eric." On this most auspicious of nights, most the galaxy's nobility, royalty, politicians, and upper class would be there. Therefore, it was important that he attended the celebration of a new Supreme Chancellor, so that he may represent the Tolaris nobility. During much of his travels, people had seen him as evil and feared him as Darth Draconum, but tonight, he wore a different face. He wore a mask of distiction, charm, and nobility. Tonight, he was Fenix Tolaris: heir to his family's fortune.

He felt the ship slowing down and looked out the window to see the hotel doors just outside the transport. The door beside him opened, revealing the beautiful hotel and the chilly air of Mygeeto. As he exited the transport, he said quickly, "Thank you, Eric." He stepped out into the the cold air and smoothed out his suit. He continued up the stairs and into the grand hall. He could see many people, but few he recognized. He smiled and greeted many of the guests and diplomats that he recognized while he was introduced to others.

Captain Viktor Mereel, Grand General of the Imperial Crimson Guards and now a representative of High Command, put on his dress robes for the important occasion that was to follow. The dress robes were items that he had owned for some time, perhaps two decades now, but had only had to wear three times - and one of those was on official duty. Virtually identical to a Crimson Guard suit, it had black body armour and a black cloak to go with it. Adorned with a black ceremonial Force-pike, he would look quite scary, even though his armour was designed to show that he was off-duty.

Stepping out of the unnamed Lambda-class shuttle, Viktor Mereel looked around him. Mygeeto was an odd-planet, especially when it came to holding an official reception, but one that didn't bother him. There were many worse locations in the galaxy - many of which Viktor had been to. He would cope with the chilly air easily enough, and the dazzling hotel shortly in front of him would probably contain a lot of unknown dignitaries. His job, it seemed, was to keep his eye on different people and analyse them, whilst keeping an air of calm politeness about himself. Chivalry and honour were to float from himself onto others; and they were to see him as the epitomy of niceness.

That way, perhaps, if they met him closer to home in the middle of the night, they would be shocked - and that moment of surprise would be enough for him. Of course, he was also here as an official representative of the Galactic Empire. For a long time now, the Galactic Empire had avoided battling with the Republic as they each saw the other as a remarkably similar identity - but the Galactic Empire didn't want to associate with the Republic as the Republic associated with Jedi, and the Republic didn't want to be known to associate with the Galactic Empire for obvious, democratic reasons.

His duty here tonight, with Kael Arden, the new Republic Chancellor, was to confirm that there would be no hostilities - and if possible, entrench their allegiance further. It would be a hard task for him to complete, but impossible is nothing to a Crimson Guard.

All knowledge is worth having. And this... this is wholly unexpected, even so. Fortun had said that one day I'd have lords and ladies seeking me out, but honestly! The new Chancellor?

Elisabeth Montreve chuckled to herself as she applied just a hint of make-up to her face, her reflection merry and curious in the glass. Setting the tube of lipstick aside, she stood and eyed her reflection, turning one way and then the other. The dress, as it was on their date, was Bellassan in design; that was only appropriate. Jet black shimmersilk, it offered narrow straps on her shoulders and the silk dipped to her ankles. For now, Elisabeth wore a light shawl over her shoulders but that could always go, depending.

A knock at the door to her rented suite jarred Elisabeth out of her self-inspection. She smiled a little mischeviously, knowing that it would be Kael... Chancellor Arden... there to pick her up. It was time, after all.

Despite what Fortun prophecized, who'd have thought?

Grinning as she went to the door, Elisabeth double-checked through the peep hole and then opened the door. "Chancellor, aren't you stunning tonight...!"

"Me? Stunning? I think you have the wrong person. You, my dear are breath-taking." His heart beating even faster now and beads of sweat formed upon his forehead. He leaned in and gave her a kiss upon the cheek. "Now, how do you expect me to look at Kallis or any of the other guests with such a dress like that?" In all honesty, she looked more than beautiful and Kael wondered why she'd stuck around with a senator, well chancellor of all things. Politics could be quite boring and most people he knew in his older circles would hardly even associate with him anymore on the basis of that.

He held his arm out now to her, "Miss Montreve, join me in this wonderful celebration?"

For a moment, Elisabeth blanched, thinking that Kael was serious and that her dress was inappropriate. Fortun had seen to it that she was well-versed in understanding politics, court life (where that still existed in particular systems, like the Hapes Cluster) and how fashion and apperance intricately tied into the "game." But still, Kael had managed to throw her off for a moment.

He's complimenting you, silly. Take it easy.

Right. Why did he ask a worldly infochant to be his date at this again?

He's interested in you. Make the most of it.

Right.

Absently, she smoothed an imaginary crease in her black gown, blushing up at the new Chancellor.

"I'm ready when you are, Kael..." Elisabeth paused, then added, "Are you sure this is a good idea? My attending with you? I'm a nobody in this political and media-ridden realm..."

James was struggling with a tie in the hallway near Kat' room. He was so nervous that he couldn't make his fingers work. This was going to be the first formal engagement he had ever been to. He stopped fully, and centered himself. He had learned that particular technique not too long ago. It came in very useful. After a few moments he got it right.

Now, just have to wait for Kat. he thought. Oh my goodness, I bet she is going to be the prettiest woman there...."

(IC) Kat was in her room getting ready. She was so nervous she was shaking. She finnally managed to zip the back of her dress and looked herself over in the mirror. The dress that she had on was elegant and fit close to her slim body showing off her slender frame. It was white and made of silk. Kat liked the dress but she was nervous because she had never worn something like it before.

She admired herself for a moment and then swet to work on her hair. She let it flow long and silky down her back with a little bit of a curl at the end. She then stepd into her shoes which were silver with a slender heal. She took in her apperance in a near by mirror and smiled at herself thinking, you dont look half bad Kat.

She put on the silver chain with the heart that had her named on it and smiled to herself. Well this is it she thought. With trembling fingers she pressed open the door and came out into the hallway to meet James.

James' jaw dropped to his chest when he saw the dress that Kat was wearing. He couldn't speak at all, or even think. Until finally he managed a simple..."Hi...you look .....um, great."

He looked like a bum on Nar Shadda next to this lovely woman.

He just shook his head and gave Elisabeth a smirk. "M'lady, I'm still a nobody. I sit up at night and wonder, why was I voted this? Who was I before this was bestowed upon me. Trust me, I don't know or think I was that deserving of the title. But now that it is given to me, I'm going to do my best to uphold it."

He turned around then to face her, "and why would I ask someone like you?" His hand raised and his fingertips glided gently down her cheek and back up. Then his open palm cupping her cheek as his fingers fidgeted with her hair. He became even more nervous, but he wanted this moment to be only them. It was special and private, and for once the world wouldn't be watching. As the butterflies were ready to explode out of his stomach like an alien, he spoke. "Because, you deserve to be adored. Not only for your beauty, but your mind that sparks a deep, burning fire inside of me." His forehead leaning against hers for a moment, his hand resting now on the back of her head as his lips moved forward, brushing hers lightly. Then, tilting his head lightly, he moved forward again and gave her a deep, loving kiss.

The Republic had elected a new Chancellor, a piece of news that was important for Michael's, and the planet of Serreno's, place in this galaxy. After all, it would be good to make allies whereever he went. Serenno didn't need anything but allies, at least at the moment. And that meant that the Count would attend the event that was held by the new Chancellor, Kael Arden. An event, it seemed to be in the same spirit as his party had been before. Formal attire, that was what he would need to get.

Michael decided to go with his white tuxedo. It would be interesting to see who else was there. A small sigh, he took a look around as he entered the ballroom. I can't say I remember any of these people. But somebody stood out of the crowd, she seemed to have some sort of nobility in the way that she presented herself.

Something about her, Michael couldn't say what it was though, seemed to almost tell him to go up to her and introduce himself. Taking a deep breath, then slowly he started to walk towards Sophie as he exhaled. When he was a few steps away from her, though, he stopped. This is more for business than anything else. I can introduce myself after I meet with the new Chancellor.

Tonight the Crimson Ferret's Revenge boasted one very nervous twi'lek. It had been months since Alema had given up her normal, rather masculine, attire of slacks and knee-high leather boots. Normally that was all she needed and it had been a very long time since she'd had reason to dress like--

...like a girl, she thought.

Toweling herself dry, she stood in front of her mirror and swallowed. I still look all right, she told herself. [/i]I mean, especially for my age. I'll be all right. This'll go fine.[/i]

The truth was she looked better than fine, and if Alema had been more accustomed to studying herself she'd know that. She turned away from her reflection to grab her dress. She'd agreed to this on the condition that Savin pay for it, since she'd lost most of her old wardrobe after the conflict on Myrkr. It hadn't been nearly as expensive as the Mandalorian had probably feared, and it was fortunate for Alema that even an inexpensive dress could be startlingly flattering if the woman in question had the figure to carry it off.

Alema held her breath as she pulled the closely-tailored fabric up past long, blue legs and past her hips. Slipping her arms through the shoulder straps, she nodded to her reflection in satisfaction. Like most twi'leks, Alema couldn't boast the extraordinary curves some human women achieved, but she knew how to make the most of what she had.

Wouldn't want everything hanging and swinging all over the place like that anyway, she resolved.

She pulled the long sleeves on, and gave herself another inspection. Against her vivid cerulean skin, the white dress gleamed starkly. She pulled her lekku back behind her shoulders and added a pair of earrings, two pearls on long silver chains. The final touch was a single gloss of deep blue lipstick. Let human women keep their red and peach nonsense. Alema couldn't imagine what it would be like to go through life all pink and white like a Cerean piglet.

Tossing her lipstick into a white clutch bag, she added two SoroSuub C1 comlinks. She should probably assume Savin would have his own, but one thing she couldn't tolerate omitting was some line of communication. As she zipped the bag closed, she heard a rapping at the door to her room and went to answer, slipping her heels on at the door.

Niko fidgeted in back seat of the air speeder on the way to the Formal Celebration for the Republic’s new Chancellor. He didn’t feel totally comfortable with this idea of his attendance to this formal occasion. His life before the Jedi had not prepared him for the social graces that would be needed, but he had decided to expand his horizons though and this one of the things he needed to get used to.

As he exited the air speeder looking at the entrance he couldn’t help but take a deep breath. “This is going to be an adventure” he said to himself stepping forward to enter.

Wonder how she learned that one He thought smiling, and leading her to his ship. Nothing fancy, just a small freighter, but it had two seats, and a good sized bunk in case he ever needed to sleep on the fly.

When they reached the loading ramp, he bent forward , and motioned with his arms for her to lead the way into the ship, After you love.

(IC) Kat smiled and steped inside the ship and took one of the seats. She looked around the ship, it was simple but nice. She waited as James sat down and then spoke. "Its cozy love. So are you looking forward to the party?"
As she waited for him to answer she tried to supress that nervous feeling she kept getting. She looked around the ship, they were very much alone and Kat had wanted to talk about it alone.

"James.. I wanted to talk with you about .. something..." She paused trying to search for something to say. She didnt want to ruin the evening but she was tired of having to worry about this. She started to speak again and found her voice strained, she couldnt look at him. "Its about us... well me really. James I may not be... well I may not be exactly the type of girl you ... well that your into."

Now she was really jumbling up her words and was very nervous but for some reason she couldnt stop talking. "At the bar you spoke of all the girls at the orphanage and all the fringe bennefits and one night stands and well... James I'm .. I'm a virg.." She trailed off. Now she really wished she hadnt said anything at all. She looked out the window bound determined not to meet his gaze.

An awkward silence fell over the cabin. She hesitated for a moment and then tried desperatly to change the subject. "I was just going to say umm that I'm really looking forward to this celebration tonight thats all. I'm a little excited so I'm not making much sense." She smiled at him and tried to hide what she was really thinking... but he did have that pesky talent of reading faces.

James had sat down and listened to her speaking, she was actually rambling a little, but he didn't mind. He had been aware for a few days that she was worried about something. He decided that it was best not to pry that she would tell him in her own time. He felt a little bit ashamed now that she was so close to letting it off her chest that he had not asked her, and kept her from so much discomfort.

It was when she started talking about his previous rendevous' that he had confessed to when she first agreed to be with him that he really felt a sting. "Kat, I......yes I...I've played the field some, maybe too much, but....it was different. He stopped, and collected himself. I know that you're worried Kat, so when ever you want to talk, don't worry, I'l understand whatever it is. He had smiled through out.

He started the ships engine and lifted off, accelerating into the atmosphere. He looked over at her. He wanted to tell her the truth, but it was rather soon, and she might not feel the same way. By now he was past caring, he needed to tell her or he might go mad. "I never want you to feel you can't talk to me. I want you to love me, Kat. Like I...... His voice left him, and he chuckled nervously.

"So...I hope it's a good party."

(IC) The ship docked onto the plannet where the party was to be held. The trip had not been a long one but it had given Kat pleanty of time to get very nervous but also very happy at the same time.

They stood to make thier way to the party but before they left the ship Kat wraped her arms around James and gently rubbed the side of his face. She let her emotions flow to him in the Force and tried to show how much she cared for him in her eyes. She then gently leaned in and kissed his lips softly for a long moment.

She pulled gracefully from him and took his arm. "Lets get this party started shall we hun?"

Security was being handled by the previous Chancellor himself, plus a detachment of clone shock troopers, designed for homeland defence. This was one such taskign they recieved constantly - defending high-profile events. The majority of them were armed with the long DC-15 blaster rifle, but the squad leaders carried the shorter WESTAR-M5 assault rifles. A few clones sat on the rafters, holding their DC-17x sniper rifles at the ready for the orders of their leader. Kallis, wearing his typical red-hued armour, made his way around the room, being careful to check up on Kael every now and then to make sure - with his own eyes - that nothing would befall the Chancellor. Around twenty clones waited in the wings, ready to do their duty incase fighting broke out.

But reports came into the Marshal's ear bud - one of the guests was being too unruly for his liking. Shoving other guests was not the way to act. Having the target pointed out, Kallis ensured his helm was secured over his head, and made his way over, holding mis M5 loosely, safety on, the sling over his shoulder. One of the plastoid-coated hands came to rest on Arumizy's shoulders, and the clone spoke in a harsh tone -

"Sir, the rules of this event were clearly expressed - decorum is to be maintained. Please refrain from shoving guests in future, or we will be forced to remove you from the facility."

Hopefully, this wouldn't go any further - if this person had any sense, he'd stop, and leave others be.
