Smoking [IC and Open]

IC:
"We're devils and black sheep and really bad eggs..." Marcus sang under his breath as he drank from a quart of rum.
A cigar lay on the floor before him, giving off rings of smoke. The bone ashtray it lay within was pillaged from a sith temple. It was originally used for sacrifices...enough said.
Blinking his mismatched eyes, the captain gazed out of the enormous windows. Usually he would be found in the bar, the strip club, or the hold watching cage fights. But tonight he took his ease in the Observatory--a glass enclave that gave a stunning 360 degree view. Sitting on the cold floor, he took another gulp of rum.
Not far off floated Velusia, the water planet. For a moment, only a moment, Marcus let go and sat back. He didn't have to plan, fight, or pillage with tooth and nail, he could enjoy his accomplishments. There floated his planet. Below him was the most feared pirate ship in the galaxy, his ship. The Crimson Ferret's Revenge syndicate was now worth half a billion credits. What a place they had come to!
Marcus could recall the first night he had gathered his crew. He could remember talking to Saede in her bunk, the only time he had ever been in there too.
Re: Smoking [IC and Open]
Rok sat in another chair nearby to where the captain was observing the planet of Velusia....and the rest of his accomplishments. Rok held a large wooden bowl filled with a libation from his homeworld of Kashyyk.
Lifting the bowl high he took a deep swig before continuing on with Marcus....off key slightly...and all the words coming out in Shiryywook....but none the less...continuing on.
Rooo acoo! Rooo acoo! Ra akahrcraaowoc anahwwwo wwoorc scwo!
Re: Smoking [IC and Open]
The captain's lips twitched upward in a smile, revealing a few gold capped teeth. Though Rok sat on a chair, Marcus was relaxing on the floor, his back resting on a collumn. Still humming the tune while Rok sang off-key in another language, he scooped up his cigar. Rolling the creation between his thumb and forefinger for a moment, he took in a deep breath.
"Rok, lad, what are we doing?" he sighed, bringing the cigar to his lips, "To what point and purpose am I stealing?"
Taking a long pull, he blew smoke rings carelessly. After rolling up his sleeves, he observed the tattoo of a devilish looking crimson ferret on his forearm. His crew was made up of the most skilled and feared outlaws in the galaxy. Nothing could stop them and as such, he should find something for them to accomplish. Stealing, pillaging, and the like was getting old. Marcus needed new thrills.
Re: Smoking [IC and Open]
Rok shrugged his shoulders dramatically. Setting the bowl down Rok tried to bridge the communication gap between he and the captain....Marcus had a hard time understanding basic when he was drunk. How could he be expected to understand Shiryywook?
Rok stood to his feet and pounded his chest a few times before pointing to Rok....then he patted Marcus on the arm and beat his chest again. Trying to show that he sought riches in order to have Adventures with his friends...or at least...that was why Rok did it.
Re: Smoking [IC and Open]
Marcus chuckled at Rok's dancing. Oddly enough, the captain spoke other languages better when drunk. It was only basic that he couldn't understand as well. Besides, after having a wookiee as second mate for years now, the man could understand Rok's language well enough.
A grubby hand waved through the air drunkenly, acknowledging Rok's point. Still, the man felt he was missing something.
"Wanna play beer pong?" Marcus asked, motioning toward a table.

Nathaniel sat with a deathstick hanging limply from his lips, its ashes dropping artfully into a tin tray on the table in front of him. Elbows on the table, his hands were pressed against his ears as he tried - in vain - to mute out the so-called singing from Marcus... and Rok. He closed baleful crimson eyes so they didn't see how he'd otherwise be glaring at them.
He wished he had the nerve to ask Serrena for some of her particular "powders" but he had to fly in less than a day. Even Nathaniel wasn't that stupid. So, he endured the singing and drinking with as best civility as he could. For now.

Re: Smoking [IC and Open]
Set up on a chair, Ava nursed her own bottle of rum. She carefully placed it down as she took out one of her guns and started cleaning it. As soon as she heard the noises and singing she looked up and raised an eyebrow at the Captain and the wookie. Both she'd never met, but in their condition at the moment, most likely she wouldn't.
Then she placed her gun carefully back in its holster, and listened on as she lifted her bottle. The hard glass of the mouth pressing against her lips as the sweet liquid just flowed down her throat. This was the life, as she sighed staring at Velusia.
Re: Smoking [IC and Open]
It had taken some rummaging and scraping around in the kitchens, but after about an hour of dragging the previous chef's ingredients (and their descendants) into a corner to be used later, Alema had found enough ingredients to pull together a Deneelian fizz-pudding.
The color isn't quite as vivid as I'd hoped, and the pastry could probably crackle more but eh. Did what I could. Once I get those toad jars off the counter I'll have more space to work. Tomorrow, she resolved. She really did need to do something with the odds and ends left around that kitchen.
She carried her plate out of the kitchen, and walked for a bit trying to find someplace appropriate to sit down and eat. She was tired of locking herself in her room, and eventually she'd have to get used to the idea of being part of this crew. When she found herself near the observatory and heard the captain's drunken musical number with Rok, she bit her lip and glanced back over her shoulder toward the kitchen.
With an exasperated sigh she shook her head and cursed herself silently for being so skittish. She was a grown woman, not some child in a public school begging for a place to sit at lunch. Saede had brought her here and a little vicarious drunken revelry might do her good. Alema needed to lighten up a bit anyway, and she knew it.
Once inside she set her plate down a few seats away from Nathaniel. She nodded and pulled one blue headtail over her shoulder. "Alema. They picked me up on Myrkr." She gestured down to the pastry on her plate with her fork. "Deneelian fizz-pudding. You want some? Feels a little weird going down, but it tastes just fine."
Re: Smoking [IC and Open] "Am I that bad?" Marcus growled, noticing the looks the others were giving him.
They didn't have to be in his lounging place. There were bars, clubs, and plenty of other cool stuff on the destroyer. But then again, no other place on the Revenge could boast as good of a view. Taking a pull from his cigar, Marcus downed some more rum. Having swallowed the fiery mix, he exhaled the smoke.
"Sodding eunuchs," he mumbled to himself, stumbling over to the window and pressing his hand into the glass as he looked out.
"Ava!" the captain turned around, "That is your name, isn't it?"

Re: Smoking [IC and Open]
Ice blue eyes looked up to his mismatched ones. "Yes, that's my name. How can I help you today Captain?" Holding on tight to her rum bottle, getting more and more intoxicated with each sip. It really didn't matter to her that she had to fly the next day, she knew she'd be fine.
Re: Smoking [IC and Open]
Marcus paused and grinned now that he had her attention. Reaching into his frock coat, he drew his sword, which was sufficiently rusty and bloody. After taking careful aim, he tossing it. The vibro-cutlass spun through the air and landed on the table, standing up completely with its point dug into the table's surface.
"Would you mind cleaning that while you're at it, love?" he said, pressing his palms together in thanks.
The new crew members were usually given drugery tasks, though cleaning the captain's cutlass may well be called an honor. Taking another long gulp from the rum, he slid down, back against the windows, and sat watching the room.
Re: Smoking [IC and Open]
A sudden scurry of clawed feet and the trouble making critter known as Griswald, Captain Marcus' ferret, came scampering into the conservatory, almost tripping head over tea kettle in an attempt to reach him before whatever was obviously after it caught up.
With an almost comical tumble, the ferret ended up in a puddle of fur and dark blinking eyes at the Captain's feet. A heartbeat later it was moving again, scurrying up Marcus's legs, something dangling from his mouth. With a squeak and a skitter, Gris wound his way up and behind Marcus's neck, nose just peeking out of the massive of baubles and braids as Saede came screeching around the corner.
The red-headed first mate skidded in an almost mirror image of the ferret, almost missing the door before reaching out to grab the side and putting a halt on her momentum down the hallway. She looked a little disheveled, and the expression on her face made it clear that the First Mate couldn't decide if she were angry, annoyed, or amused.
Re: Smoking [IC and Open]
OOC: Saede, that was the single most brilliant post I have ever seen.
IC:
Marcus grinned with taut lips, trying to keep from laughing, "Maybeh.."
The man could feel the ferret trembling, with either fear or excitement. Knowing Griswald, the furball was probably laughing. While he hadn't had time to see what Griz was stealing, the captain had a crazy idea that it was Saede's.
"Why do you ask, love?" he said, giggling as Griswald shifted position.
Re: Smoking [IC and Open]
She paused, giving Marcus that hard look she was so famous for now.... of course, she also knew it wouldn't work on him. Oh yeah, Griswald was here.
"The little bugger took something from my room.... I want it back."
Re: Smoking [IC and Open]
Rok was to the side of Marcus....out of eyeshot from him but perfectly visible to Saede....his eyes grew wide seeing the anger emanating from Saede. Slowly and inconspicuously Rok nodded in the goofy emphatic way that only Rok could....a sneaky finger pointed to where the Ferret was nuzzled.
Re: Smoking [IC and Open]
ooc: Rok, I have my back up against the glass windows...
IC:
"Oh? What did the little guy take from you?" Marcus asked, oddly interested.
The captain could think of a single thing that small that the ferret could steal and evoke such a worry from Saede. All of the things she invested her interest in, like her weapons and ship, were too big for the skinny rodent.
Marcus' lips twictched, trying not to laugh as Griswald stuck his cold nose in the pirate's ear, sniffing fervently.

Re: Smoking [IC and Open]
A low growl escaped her lips as the cutlass landed on the table in front of her. "Aye Captain," as she stood up to her full height and yanked the cutlass out. Her body fell back into the chair and she lifted her legs and rested her feet upon the table. Her equipment emerged from her pocket as her hands rolled out a long cloth. Inside would hold all the materials needed to clean the cutlass.
But first she lifted it up and examined it for a moment. Such a blade had probably seen much action, as she pondered how many souls fell to this single blade alone. No bother thinking of that though, as her mind went back to the task at hand. Agile and cracked hands handling the blade as the cloth oiled it up and wiped off the layers of blood and grime on it.
Her attention was now diverted to Saede and she was quite upset. Seemed as if the ferret had done or taken something. 'What a brave little bugger,' she thought as she finished up the Captain's blade.

Re: Smoking [IC and Open] "Deneelian fizz-pudding. You want some? Feels a little weird going down, but it tastes just fine."
Nathaniel cocked his head, blinking at the Twi'lek. Absently, he thought to himself, If I were full-blooded, some idiots around here would makes jokes that the two of us might be related, coloring-wise. He managed not to scowl and confuse this Alema with his expression. Half-Chiss and half-Human, he and Serrena had Chiss eyes but tanned, flesh-tone skin.
"Uh, sure. It's not like one of those pre-packed meals where everything tastes like food Jabba the Hutt would eat though, is it?"
It wasn't often that Saede was at a loss for words. In fact, the First Mate virtually *always* had a comeback or an answer of some sort. This was truly a first here on the Revenge.
"It was a gift," she said off handedly, as though it didn't matter. "Just a piece of jewlery... I was thinking of sending it back to him with a nasty letter or something, but I can't do that without it."
All of which, except that it was a gift from a man, was a horrible, horrible lie.

Re: Smoking [IC and Open]
The sound of heavy footfalls would echo down the hallway as all six plus feet of stongly built Mando'ad walked into the room with his usual confidanat, almost predatory gait.
He took a moment to look at those assembled before he took himself, and the verpine repeater that he needed to fix as he dropped it a day ago, over to an empty chair near the Twi'lek and the Chiss half-breed, offering both a nod as he sat and set his weapon down on the table to begin dissasembal-..wait a minute. Is that..
"..Fizz cake? Fizz cake is pretty kandosii." Said he in his rumbling D'xun/Mando accent. "You sharing, Cobalt?"
Re: Smoking [IC and Open] Pre-packed meals? Alema thought, mildly offended at the implication that she'd offer another sentient creature something out of a can or bag.
When Savin sat down and offered his vote of confidence, she tore a corner off the pastry and tore off a bite with pointed teeth, nodding her agreement. Her tongue tingled as the pastry crackled and fizzed in her mouth, but when it passed she was left with the sweet and vaguely nutty aftertaste of the dessert.
Cobalt, she noted with some amusement. Called me Cobalt.
Carefully taking hold of the remaining pastry, she tore it in half and passed a piece to each man. "Sharing? Always. Just surprised to have someone take me up on the offer."
This isn't even the weird stuff, though. Desserts are fairly easy to get people into but they reeeaaally have to trust me before they eat something like stew. I can sneak all manner of bizarre little things in it. In fact... she mused. I bet if I chop those Dagoban iguana feet really finely no one would ever notice them in something like that. Stew tomorrow it is.
Her dinner plans for the next day firmly resolved, she licked her fingers, pulling a piece of pastry from beneath one thumbnail. She watched Nathaniel expectantly, waiting to see his reaction to her cooking.

Serrena ran her fingers through her hair before she stepped into the observatory. There was a whole host of people there already, Saede glaring at Marcus, Rok watching the both of them, Alema trying to convince Nathaniel to eat something she'd apparently prepared herself. Savin had evidently just entered before her, as he took a seat near Nathaniel and Alema.
She paused and stared for a moment, crimson eyes flickering as she wavered in the doorway. With a deep breath, Serrena stepped inside and waved to Nathaniel, before heading to the opposite side of the room and sprawling out on a couch. Clad in soft black cotton for a change, the fuschia detail of her pajamas sparkled in the dim light.
A deathstick dangled in slender fingers as she gazed out the massive viewport, delicate tendril of smoke trailing from her lips.
Re: Smoking [IC and Open]
Marcus had been about to reply to Saede when Serrena slinked into the room. Her entrances always brought a grin to the captain's face.
"Oi! Serrena!" he said, getting her attention, "Love the jammies."
Chuckling, he looked back to his first mate, "Him? Are we saying that a man, nay, a lover may have supplied you with said trinket!"
The idea brought no little humor to the pirate captain as he leapt to his feat, Griswald clinging to his dreads for dear life.

Re: Smoking [IC and Open]
Nathaniel took a tentative taste of the pudding, always erring on the side of caution when it came to such things. Chiss cuisine was as bland and matter-of-fact as their cultural ways; everything he'd experienced this side of the galaxy was a lot more... vibrant.
"Pretty good, Alema. Thanks." A thought occurred to him, something that Marcus had said just as he'd become the Iron Ferret squad leader. "Are you the new cook for the Ferrets then? Or do you just..." He hesitated, frowning, trying to remember the 'casual' word and blanking, reverting back to Cheunh. "...dabble?"
Nathaniel nodded at Savin and turned his attention to Serrena, his sister, as she glided into the room. He grinned to himself at her attire, shook his head and looked back to Alema.

Re: Smoking [IC and Open] "Vor'e, Blue."
He took the offered treat and stuffed it into his mouth with such speed that she would be certain that he would have taken her fingers with it if she didn't let go when she did. Now, whether he was planning to bite them or suck the sweet syrup from the cake off them was anybody's guess.
He -had- been flirting with her, and many other of the females on the ship a bit, of late. But, Savin was like that. The slightly suggestive smirk he gave her when her fingers escaped their fate would have lent evidence toward the latter.
Almost as if by a twist of serendipity, Serrena's lithe form entered the room, making her way over to a couch on the other side of the room. Savin's steel-grey gaze trailed her curvaceous form as it commanded the attention of the more testosterone-centric in the room. He offered a nod and an a, slight, enigmatic smile to the dancer as soon as her crimson eyes glanced in his direction before he returned to his weapon with a self-satisfied smirk.
The warrior proceeded to take the weapon apart with tools he produced from a bag he carried in with him, disassembling the firearm to it's base components in under a minute. The practiced precision he showcased, along with the smile he wore was indicative of a man the loved what he did. That, and fizz cake is that sh*t.
"...so, when are you gonna make more of that, Cobalt?"
Re: Smoking [IC and Open]
"Oh, I uh..." Alema followed Nathaniel and Savin's glances to Serrena and shook her head with a rueful smile. Must be nice to be so comfortable around the crew, walking around in that little scrap of clothing. Especially with guys like Savin grinning at her backside all day. Then again, there was always the chance that she wanted guys grinning at her backside. Grimly Alema noted that she'd become far too uptight for that sort of thing. She'd seen where that attention led, and hoped that this young woman never would. At least... not to the same extent.
"Anyway," she continued. "To answer your question, I'm not... actually a cook. It's just..."
Just that I had to learn. It was one of many obligations and responsibilities she was saddled with when she was owned by the man who'd bought her from her parents. In addition to seeing to her master's needs, she was also responsible in large part for the care of his daughter. Cooking, cleaning, minor repairs on clothing and toys... those duties she hadn't minded nearly as much and they'd been a welcome diversion from his... other expectations.
She didn't want to explain the details to this boy, though. He was young, he seemed nice enough, and he probably didn't need to be worrying about her past. She tried not to dwell on it, and having it come up in conversation was totally counterproductive.
"Just a hobby. Good way to kill time and I get to eat it when I'm done. Well," she added with a grin. "Half the time now Savin eats it, but that's not so bad. Good to cook for other people again."
Glancing over at the Mandalorian, she watched his fingers flying over his gun, pulling and twisting and disassembling the whole thing with blinding speed. Alema had no familiarity with guns, and as far as she was concerned a gun was one thing, and not a set of a million interlocking smaller things. She was aware of the rudiments of how it worked, but it was conceptually very strange to see the machinery laid out in front of her on the table.
Watching his enthusiasm, Alema smiled and the end of her right head-tail twitched in amusement. Turning to Nathaniel she nodded toward the remains of his dessert. "So, if I make more of those should I hide some from Savin to save for you?"
