Petty Larceny... Oh No! (Vormulac or PM for Entry)
A great percentage of the time, Shakti was perfectly comfortable staying on Coruscant where people were sane, the Force didn't hate everything including her, where the women weren't constantly drinking each other's blood to get off and the men weren't chaining the women to walls and... well. Suffice it to say Shakti often wondered at the prevalence of semi-public bloodplay, and generally tried to minimize her exposure to that weirdness.
As a result, Shakti seldom returned to Korriban anymore except to meet with a few contacts who still seemed to have decent heads on their shoulders. The whole place made her skin crawl, and everyone in it pissed her off. If she hadn't been here for a specific purpose, she'd have been content to stay among sane persons. However, her purpose was an important one.
On a semi-regular basis she'd begun convincing some of the more brazen archivists to smuggle out what they could and make copies of what they couldn't. Ever since the recent conflict there, Korriban was quickly becoming the home of a very different and iconoclastic sort of Sith, and Shakti wasn't having it.
Fortunately, any intelligent Sith would understand that these archives were in serious danger here and any Sith who didn't know their value would never miss them anyway.
This trip was going to be a moderate take. There were a few things that could be easily copied, and it was easy enough to simply copy the little holocubes and take the duplicates. Somewhat trickier was today's find. It was a fragile and delicate scroll with the floorplan for an ancient Sith temple on it.
Lost in her thoughts, Shakti stood playing with a yo-yo in the library while she waited for the archivist who was bringing her the scroll so she could get it off-world. Some of her finds had been funneled to Sophie Maurow's library through the Waynes, but she knew her master had a thing for architecture. Maybe once Maize got his head on straight again he'd run across this and find it an interesting item.
Her yo-yo stuck on the end of the string and wouldn't come back again, spinning in the middle of the thread and starting to sink to the carpet. Stupid string, she thought as she snatched it up with the Force and laid it in her hand. She only had the yo-yo half wound when her young and twitchy archivist friend appeared in the doorway.
"Darth Shakti. I have the scroll for you."
She sighed. "For f@#$'s sake, James. I'm not going to explode your skull if you call me by my name."
"Sorry," he said hurriedly. "Sorry Shakti. Anyway, here it is." He held it out in his hand, and Shakti reached forward gingerly to take it from him.
"Thanks. This is really nifty. I'll be sure to take care of this."
"Thank you," he said with a brief bow. "We have a couple more fragile items that certainly would not survive another assault on the library. I'll try to get them together, and perhaps you could take them as well?"
"Yeah, sure. Always room in my backpack for the cool stuff."Edited by: Darth Shakti at: 10/11/07 12:26 pm

Korriban. Home of the Sith, and home of Vormulac Taintspore, well it was more of a place for him to rest than a home. Korriban was more of a place for the more brutal Sith, which the young knight was at times, but only when it was needed. The only reason he even resided here was because of the artifacts and datapads about the Sith species, more so King Adas and his dark holocron, which had been missing for thousands of years.
So now with the conflict between the two types of Sith, the Scholars and the brutes, the artifacts, datapads and the holocrons about the dark holocron were now in danger of being destroyed. Everything else could be burnt and destoryed for all Vormulac cared, he was also sure that there would be some confrontation between him and some other Sith. But the blind Sith welcomed it with open arms, and so he had left the council chambers and headed down towards the archives.
It hadn't taken the young knight long to get to the archive room that contained everything he wanted, luckly the other Sith hadn't come down this way yet which gave Vormulac some time to gather what he needed. But not too long after he had stored the artifacts in a safe place where he could retrieve them later, a lowly Sith had entered and left the room that Vormulac was in, the other was one of the weaker Sith that weren't strong enough to be trained to a knight. So Vormulac decieded to followe him, it was doubtful that he was keeping it himself, but more likely he was taking it to someone else.
He followed the man through the twists and turns of the corridors and into a large room, which Vormulac waited outside and listened to what was being said in there. It seemed that he had been right and that the lowly Sith was indeed taking everything to someone else, by the sound of the other person it was a woman. It wasn't Sophie, but someone who Vormulac hadn't seen around much, he guessed that she lived else where and not on Korriban.
So as the Sith now known as James left the room, Vormulac stepped inside stopping anyone else from leaving the room. Now the young knight looked the woman over, she was pretty, he couldn't deny that, she was also petite but she was as tall as Vormulac. He also noticed her dark soft skin and her flowing ebony hair, to him she was indeed attractive; but that was something else. Right now he was more concerned about who was she and why was she stealing from the Sith.
"Excuse me miss. But what do you think you're doing?

Shakti let her yoyo fly down toward the floor once and with a quiet whirring noise it hung there at the bottom of the string before returning to her hand again. She looked up from the little green child's toy to address her questioner. She pulled her shoulders back and stood up straight to take full advantage of her height. Just who was this jackass, anyway?
She raised her eyebrows at him somewhat condescendingly and lifted the scroll in one hand. "I'm borrowing this." She tilted her head and stage whispered to him in a mockery of confidentiality. "It's on interlibrary loan." She shrugged. "It's not due back for three weeks, so if you want it after that you'll just have to wait."
With a fierce flick of her fingers the yoyo flew down toward the floor and zipped back up to slam back into her palm. "Don't worry; I'll return it on time. Hate to have my card suspended again, and late fees for the Korriban temple archives are murder, y'know?"

A small smirk crept onto the knight's thin lips, as the young woman joked about what she was doing. It was all to obvious that she was stealing the scroll and various other artifacts, but was it for herself or for another? But he the only way he would find out is by asking her, it also seemed that she was trying to imtimidate him by standing up straighter than when he first walked in. She was indeed tall for a woman, but Vormulac stood tall than her by a few inches, his body suit kept him standing straight but when he needed to lean over, he could.
"Loan, huh? So thats what its called these days." He said with a raised eyebrow. "You know, theres no need to lie to me. I too have, how did you say... loaned some choice items."

Re: Petty Larceny... Oh No! (Vormulac or PM for Entry)"Mmhm," she returned, an unabashedly-impressed smirk sweeping the annoyance from her features. "Are you now? Then maybe you're aware that these things aren't safe here anymore."
The yoyo sped down toward the carpet and using the Force Shakti threw it in a wide circle around her shoulder and back in front of her until the string yanked it back down into her hand. "It'll be accessible if people really have a desperate passionate need for it, but they'll have to go through people who can actually be trusted."
With a nod toward the door where James had exited, Shakti continued, "I mean, not that these guys can't be trusted. James is a peach. But if someone gave him trouble he couldn't handle it like I could, so there's only so much I can realistically ask him to do. Protecting this stuff?" She shook her head and slipped the scroll into an inner pocket of her backpack. "This I can do."Edited by: Darth Shakti at: 10/15/07 7:35 pm

"I all to well understand that there are some people who cannot be trusted, as I do not trust a single Sith who lives on this planet. But... you do seem trust worthy."
With a shrug the blind Sith continued. "It could be profitable for us both if we teamed up and protected what is valueable to us and others."

Re: Petty Larceny... Oh No! (Vormulac or PM for Entry)Oh ho... Shakti, the guardian of Sith tradition and history... Except with more looting.
Shakti was often not precisely sure how to receive compliments, since she rarely received them from people without a healthy coating of sarcasm. If there wasn't sarcasm in the giving, there shouldn't be sarcasm in the reception.
But not being sarcastic? Ask Shakti not to speak, ask her not to breathe, but don't ask her not to be sarcastic.
"Team up. Partners in crime, throwing our lots together and stealing from the rich to give to the geeks and fighting for the integrity and nobility of the Sith way of life. Maybe something about family values in there, too," she added as an afterthought, once again throwing the yoyo in a circle around behind her. "Doesn't sound so bad. But you're unusually supportive of what amounts to a crime against the order. What do you get out of it?"

The young knight let out a small chuckle, which was rare for him, as he was serious almost all the time. He didn't deny his emotions, it was just that there was no one for him to let himself go with. But there was something about Shakti that just made him loosen up a little, he didn't mind it where as the other Sith riducle him about being blind.
"The order? Not much of an order if they can't even stay united. Besides, what are they going to do with it? They only plan to destroy whatever they can get their grubby hands on, and it would hurt to get back at some of them for the comments about my blindness..."Edited by: Vormulac Taintspore at: 10/22/07 3:30 pm

Weird. Weird that he would care what they say about him being blind. I mean, sure. I guess the puns could get pretty bad. But beyond that?
"But you make a good point. You've got as much reason to get this crap offworld as I do, even if it might matter less to you where it goes." Spinning plastic toy down. Then up. "And if you want anything that's on more... long-term loan... let me know. I can either track it down again or at least dig up one of my copies. I'd make a piss-poor self-righteous looter if I couldn't find what I'd hidden if the need arose."

Miraluka? It seemed that alot of the Sith and even the Jedi confused Vormulac for one, but much to most peoples surprise he was a Mirialan. The young knight was use to the misconception it wasn't a problem for him to explain it to her.
"You seem to be mistaken, I am not a Miraluka. You see, my eyes worked when I was a child, but there was an accident and my sight was lost." With a small sigh the Mirialan continued.
"I'm sure at some point I will need access to some of the stuff, but for now... just taking the stuff from the other Sith to get back at thier arrogance. So, what do you say we get moving and take what we can?"

Re: Petty Larceny... Oh No! (Vormulac or PM for Entry)"Sorry about that. Shouldn't assume that just because your blind and yet not-blind you're Miraluka. Probably because I was there not long ago. Got used to seeing them everywhere, which is a weird statement to make, considering." She shook off the beginnings of unnecessary rambling. Before she knew it she'd be pestering him with questions about Mirialan tattooing practices.
"But yeah. I'd assumed you just kind of... could see, but if you had to teach yourself how that's actually really interesting. I can't do most of the perception stuff for sh*t, which I should really work on now that I think about it." She scratched her head and shoved her yoyo back into her pocket. It was surprising and somewhat notable that due to accidents years back... none of them were physically what they used to be.
"I'm actually done with my thievery for today, unless you can think of anything you want. I've been working slowly and so far you're the only one who's noticed me doing it." She laughed. "I'm waiting for the day they come in and the damned library is empty and they wonder when the f*** it happened."

Interesting species, so much as I'm not surprised you confused me with them. Unfortuantly, a Jedi taught me... he happened to be visiting my village, and well he helped me after the accident. But against his luck, I killed him." He gave a small shrug and carried on.
"Well... if you wish. I could help you with the perception, which should be easy if you know the basics of it. To be honest. I can wait to steal anything else, maybe we could go some where and continue chatting? Unless you have other plans?"

Shakti took note of the fact that he'd apparently killed his Jedi teacher, which was something she herself had never done. A Jedi who'd apparently done him some good, and either it had really been ill luck or this Vormulac had done it on purpose. Shakti couldn't really imagine herself doing such a thing, but she also wasn't surprised. In this ongoing sectarian warfare, such things had to be expected. Maybe if the Jedi didn't give so many people reason to feel condemned and oppressed, they wouldn't have so many Sith killing them just to make a point.
She was resolving to ask Vormulac about it when he made what seemed like a veiled... something. Shakti wasn't sure what exactly she called it, but when a man expressed an interest in spending more time with what she saw as an ascerbic, disrespectful, obnoxious mutilated woman, something else had to be going on. Right?
Of course, if Vormulac had not hit upon a long-buried insecurity of Shakti's, she might be better able to acknowledge a list of potentially-helpful factors. First off, if he'd noticed the scars on her hands he hadn't said anything and he certainly hadn't seen any of the rest on her body. Secondly, he was blind. He was unlikely to be weirded out by people whose bodies bore the permanent marks of past suffering.
"I dunno," she said, her wariness only half-feigned. "My mom always told me not to wander off with strangers. You got a name?"

For some reason beyond Vormulac's comprehension, the young female seemed to become awkward with his request to continue spending time together. Was it something he had done? or was it just that she was repulsed by him and his blindness. Whatever it was, he didn't care. He had gotten used to such responses that he simply shrugged it off and waited for a responce from her. He had gotten one, but it wasn't what he had expected. Vormulac had wanted a more sure answer and not a half assed reply, but he wasn't going to complain. Something was better than nothing, and he took it as a possible yes.
"Ah, forgive me. My name is Vormulac Taintspore, and yours is...?"

Shakti ran the name through her mind quickly, decided that she had no idea who he was and that it didn't really matter. He didn't seem like an atrocious person, and clearly wasn't an antisocial one, either. An unusual thing in Shakti's experience. She'd stayed at the fringes of temple life for a while, put off by the way Sith couldn't seem to speak with one another without threatening to kill someone or otherwise attempting to intimidate others into accepting their superiority. It was all so numbingly petty that Shakti wondered how they held onto power at all, insecure as they seemed to be about showing it all the time.
Perhaps Vormulac was different, or perhaps the other Sith simply weren't as aggravating individually as they could be in groups. It was a fair assessment, since it had also been Shakti's observation of Jedi.
Provided he didn't seem too eager to please, Shakti supposed there was little reason for suspicion just yet. She nodded to the other knight and replied, "Shakti. Well, Darth Shakti, technically, but I don't think I'm melodramatic enough by nature to pull off the full title. If you want to go someplace to talk, I could use a sandwich or something. Want to head to the mess? I'm sure they'll have something to feed us that isn't unspeakably evil or otherwise weird."Edited by: Darth Shakti at: 11/1/07 12:21 pm

To Vormulac, Shakti seemed to be quite timid when the spot light was on her. It was an unusual trait for a Sith, specially for the Sith on Korriban, but then again Vormulac wasn't a typical Sith either. Unlike one half of the current order, he wasn't a brute and didn't think about killing everyone in sight. Nor was he like the other half. The scholar type; all words and no actions. Just keeping their noses in the books and only fighting with their words and not their lightsabers. He wasn't one to judge, well specially that he had burn scars behind his blindfold and being blind didn't really help his case.
"Well Shakti. A bite to eat does sound good right about now. Care to lead the way? I'm sure they'll have some fresh blood and a fried child ready for us.. hahaha."

Re: Petty Larceny... Oh No! (Vormulac or PM for Entry)"Oooh, fried child." She started off through the door and turned over her shoulder to wait for Vormulac. "Maybe they'll wrap it in bacon for me first!"
On the way over through the hall, Shakti chewed on the question of whether or not to discuss what was really on her mind. Granted, it might be something of a tender subject, and she couldn't know how connected he still felt to his past and memories of his own upbringing. It might be wisest to keep a sensitive silence on such issues, leaving her own curiosity unsatisfied for the sake of Vormulac's comfort.
But that would suck, and curiosity was meant to be served.
"So how different is your current sight from physical sight? A miraluka wouldn't know the difference, after all," she added with a grin.

The blind knight returned the sarcasm with a smirk, but the thought of bacon sandwich had made him even more hungry. "Maybe they will."
As they walked through the long hall ways, it seemed that the other had something on her mind. It appeared that she was deep in thought, he wondered what it could be. Was she conjuring up a question to ask him, or was she just thinking about something earlier that he had said to her. Whatever it was, he would either hear about it later, or maybe not. Not longer than a few seconds later, she had asked him a odd question. One that he hadn't been asked before, but it was a good one. How people got to experance both natural sight and Force sight, he just happened to be one of those people.
He returned the grin and answered her question."Quite different, actually. As you know, an average person can see in colour. Me... I don't, I see everything in blue. Unless it's a dark Force user, then I seem them in red. Also I can see the strength of someones Force connection. The stronger the connection, the brighter they are. Plus, if I concentrate on say... A wall, I can see whats on the other side. Pretty helpful when tracking someone down."
