PapatymisonN: Don't go to bed!
Lithaladhwen: ....
Lithaladhwen: Okay.
Lithaladhwen: Why not?
PapatymisonN: Cuz you need to tell your boy he's MEAN for making want to overcommit myself.
PapatymisonN: *wants in the Darin RP*
Lithaladhwen: I see.
Lithaladhwen: Post to the thread. He's looking for peope right now.
Lithaladhwen: *people
Lithaladhwen: You should at least put in your $.02
PapatymisonN: Aye.
PapatymisonN: ... Darin meeeeeeeeeeet... Cardinal, right?
PapatymisonN: I can't recall. I'm SURE you were there, though...
Lithaladhwen: Yes.
Lithaladhwen: I was playing Joss.
Lithaladhwen: Dae also knows Tassi.
PapatymisonN: Ah, the doubles RP.
PapatymisonN: And Dae would be preferable.
PapatymisonN: Since Card's committed.
Lithaladhwen: He said he's looking for people who know either of them, and Tassi will definitely be there.
Lithaladhwen: Card shouldn't be for long.
Lithaladhwen: I don't anticipate this taking much longer, especially not now that we can start revealing information.
PapatymisonN: Aye.
Lithaladhwen: If Cardinal wants to see the past, I know how we can lead him to Shakti's friend.
PapatymisonN: Kay. I'm inspired tonight.
PapatymisonN: Also: What's Brian's full name?
Lithaladhwen: Brian Robert Ford, if I recall.
Lithaladhwen: He should log on soon.
Lithaladhwen: His computer reset five minutes ago.
PapatymisonN: Kay.
Lithaladhwen: He needs to sleep tonight, though. He works tomorrow and then has to go pick me up from the airport.
Lithaladhwen: *reads about torture in the Spanish Inquisition*
Lithaladhwen: Wacky Inquisitors.
PapatymisonN: Fun, huh?
PapatymisonN: Was there Mazzalotto in there?
Lithaladhwen: I was just reviewing the "pear of anguish" techniques.
PapatymisonN: ... ooh.
PapatymisonN: Also: I have a bad idea I want to run by you.
Lithaladhwen: Do so! I love bad ideas!
PapatymisonN: Oh. Wait. It's tied into how I want Cardinal to die. Maybe I shouldn't tell you.
Lithaladhwen: o_ô
Lithaladhwen: Well, I already know he's going to die.
Lithaladhwen: I'm not sure what you're spoiling at this point.
PapatymisonN: The circumstance.
Lithaladhwen: Shakti won't do anything different based on my knowledge. Her choices are limited by the fact that she's very specifically insane.
PapatymisonN: It'd all be an RP.
PapatymisonN: And I'd suspect you'd want to be involved.
Lithaladhwen: I would.
PapatymisonN: So, SPOILER.
Lithaladhwen: Mmmkay.
PapatymisonN: But yeah. It's most likely a bad idea.
Lithaladhwen: Go ahead and send me what you're thinking of. I need to go wash my face and things, but I'll be back shortly.
PapatymisonN: ... oh, fine.
PapatymisonN: Just one thing I must mentione.
PapatymisonN: ... Torquemada.
Lithaladhwen: *scowl*
PapatymisonN: See? BAD idea.
Lithaladhwen: What about him?
PapatymisonN: Him, returning, with more power than he deserves.
Lithaladhwen: ...To GAERA?
PapatymisonN: Aye.
Lithaladhwen: Let me ask you one question? Has Cardinal ever been, how to say this....
Lithaladhwen: afraid of his sister?
Lithaladhwen: Because that might give him a chance if he's never been there before.
PapatymisonN: Yeah. Had that feeling.
PapatymisonN: He'd... embody everything she hates, wouldn't he?
Lithaladhwen: Um... yes?
Lithaladhwen: He's the one who ruined her life?
Lithaladhwen: Who tore apart her family and saw to it she'd never sleep soundly again?
PapatymisonN: And that's what would make him a GREAT villain.
Lithaladhwen: Yeah, except...well, I don't have to tell you a lot of the things she'd do.
Lithaladhwen: You get to find out for yourself.
Lithaladhwen: I'll just say...God help anyone who keeps her from getting to Torquemada.
PapatymisonN: That'd just be Torquemada.
PapatymisonN: Oh, and Cardinal, for reasons you'll find out when you're in the RP.
Lithaladhwen: She wouldn't care what Cardinal thought. I should inform you, as a potential GM, that what you'd end up with would be the first REAL Messiahfight.
PapatymisonN: ... I just smirk. ^_^
Lithaladhwen: I'm serious. It could easily get to the point where, sure. Cardinal could die. But she's not stable. She might kill him to get to Torquemada.
Lithaladhwen: She'd see it as him protecting his former mentor. All bets are off at that point.
PapatymisonN: ... and that's where you show you don't know me.
PapatymisonN: I always try to keep the virtue of my characters intact.
PapatymisonN: And really, is there ANYTHING that would make Cardinal go back to Torquemada? ANYTHING/
Lithaladhwen: I'm not saying Cardinal would.
Lithaladhwen: I'm saying she wouldn't listen to reason.
Lithaladhwen: From anyone.
Lithaladhwen: Either she gets her way, or dies trying and so does everyone who tries to hold her back.
PapatymisonN: OK. I think I'm gonna have to drive her insane, then.
Lithaladhwen: You might have to. Just letting you know that's where this is going as far as I can tell.
PapatymisonN: Yes ma'am.
Lithaladhwen: After all...Shakti will never really have anybody or anything to lose. Especially if the chance to get her hands on Torquemada presents itself.
Lithaladhwen: Her sanity is held very tenuously by her work and her brother's apparent need for constant supervision.
PapatymisonN: ... whoa, whoa, whoa. She left him alone for how long and now he needs "supervision"?
Lithaladhwen: She doesn't think he should be left to his own devices, no.
Lithaladhwen: She goes on assignment, and when she comes back he's married a woman he barely knows and apparently didn't intend to tell her. Ever.
Lithaladhwen: So, yeah. She feels a need to keep an eye on him.
PapatymisonN: ... he'd have gotten around to it.
Lithaladhwen: Uh huh.
PapatymisonN: What? He's going to keep info like that from her?
Lithaladhwen: Um, he did, didn't he?
PapatymisonN: .... SHHH!
PapatymisonN: You're putting holes in my argument!
Lithaladhwen: If she ever got married (God forbid), she'd INVITE HIM, rather than hoping it simply didn't come up in conversation.
Lithaladhwen: "Oh, Es, you've...gained weight."
Lithaladhwen: "Shut up. I'm pregnant with my third child and have been married for ten years. How's it feel, Sal?
Lithaladhwen: ^--Like so.
PapatymisonN: "... where is he?"
PapatymisonN: "If he's insufficient, I may have to kill him."
Lithaladhwen: Shakti doesn't trust Cardinal to take care of himself, but he's rapidly becoming Farida's problem. Once she's sure that his wife can keep him walking the line... she'll stop worrying.
Lithaladhwen: When she stops worrying, she moves on and will likely attempt to forget about him to some extent.
PapatymisonN: She's so LOVING...
Lithaladhwen: Yeah. Isn't it sweet.
PapatymisonN: I could puke.
Lithaladhwen: Maybe go back to Earth. Retire in India with Sanjaya until he gets old and dies. Then, who knows. Hang around and wait to do the same.
Lithaladhwen: Shakti doesn't think much of her life, and is pretty damn ready to scrap the whole mess.
Lithaladhwen: She's not motivated enough for suicide, but she wakes up most mornings ready to die.
Lithaladhwen: This is assuming that she doesn't meet someone who could play the romantic game with her.
Lithaladhwen: God help the poor bastard who tries, and even more so if he succeeds.
PapatymisonN: She'd be a hard woman to please.
Lithaladhwen: Only hard task is getting her to trust you. After that you're golden because she's pretty open about most things.
Lithaladhwen: If you ask her what's wrong, the answer will seldom be "nothing." She will tell you. At length. In detail.
Lithaladhwen: Like I said. I don't expect her to meet anyone by second gen.
Lithaladhwen: She actually had a brief fancy for Sorune, but you know. He's married.
Lithaladhwen: More of a "You know, he's not so bad," than anything else.
PapatymisonN: ... huh.
PapatymisonN: No offense, but it always surprises me when your characters find interest in others. You're just... good at making that not the big part of their life.
Lithaladhwen: Part of that is a desire not to match up all of my characters with one of Brian's.
Lithaladhwen: Holly likes Ardam, Quinn and Zeke are Quinn and zeke, Tassi is seeing Darin, Dawn was...weird...about Elaith... you catching the vibe?
PapatymisonN: Aye...
Lithaladhwen: However, Myrnal is lonely and would like to not be anymore. Shakti, like I said, had a momentary thing for Sorune, since he seemed to always see where she was coming from with very little necessary explanation.
Lithaladhwen: He was her anth geek buddy.
PapatymisonN: Hmm. If you're lookin' at any of my characters, I think I'm out of viable firstgen ones.
Lithaladhwen: Heh.
PapatymisonN: ... Kobakk? The youthful Layne? Goren?
Lithaladhwen: *snort*
PapatymisonN: *checks his character list*
PapatymisonN: Mm. Jansen is one night stand material only.
Lithaladhwen: Ha.
Lithaladhwen: Too bad Sage is never online anymore. I actually kind of wanted to resolve some things with Shakti's....Sorune crush.
Lithaladhwen: It would have been amusing.
PapatymisonN: He'll be back, I'm sure.
Lithaladhwen: Hopefully.
PapatymisonN: ... heh. I've got a dwarf named Finn...
Lithaladhwen: Who else do I play that is romantically unattached? Safiyeh. Myrnal. Eve (now that I've killed her boyfriend at least). Holly (technically). Zea.
Lithaladhwen: Not really looking for anyone for any of them, but opportunities will happen if enough RP goes on.
Lithaladhwen: Unfortunately, I don't think I can find anyone for Goren. :-(
PapatymisonN: Don't worry. Nothing works down there anymore.
Lithaladhwen: I figured.
Lithaladhwen: Zea would have sex with Hak if she decided he was an okay guy.
PapatymisonN: Hak: SWEET!
Lithaladhwen: Like her mother, she'll have sex with her friends without problems. Unlike her mother, you have to be her friend FIRST.
PapatymisonN: Note that he's still a virgin.
Lithaladhwen: *snort* So's James.
Lithaladhwen: Apparently she's collecting them.
PapatymisonN: 250 COLLECTIBLE VIRGINS! GET THE ONE WHO PUTS ON AN ACT! THE SHY ONE! THE HOT ONE! THE ONE WHO'S 80 YEARS OLD BUT STILL LOOKS LIKE HE'S 30!
PapatymisonN: ... that last one's Elan.
Lithaladhwen: Heh. Some one of these days she's just going to make a deflowering run and have sex with most of her male friends.
PapatymisonN: I'm sure they won't mind.
Lithaladhwen: James is fine if he brings the subject up, and as long as Hak proved himself to not be an asshole (bonus points for actually being nice to her) he'd probably be fine, too.
Lithaladhwen: I don't know Hak well enough to judge.
PapatymisonN: I'll be sure to play him with you next time I get.
Lithaladhwen: Heh.
Lithaladhwen: That should be entertaining.
Lithaladhwen: She needs to meet Tymisonn people. You said Dae would be...what was the term...
Lithaladhwen: Disgusted by her? =D
PapatymisonN: But accepting.
PapatymisonN: ... eventually.
PapatymisonN: She goes WAY farther than his wife EVER goes.
Lithaladhwen: That's because she's insane, Charles. Just... in the manageable way.
Lithaladhwen: But yeah.
Lithaladhwen: She'd argue theology with him for fun.
Lithaladhwen: She's suspicious of some Ashurans and Ishtarians, but if they're well-read they can be a lot of fun.
PapatymisonN: Oh, that'd be Dae, alright.
PapatymisonN: He's a bigwig.
PapatymisonN: A SEXY bigwig.
Lithaladhwen: Uh huh. She wouldn't hit on...would his title be Father Tymisonn?
PapatymisonN: Yep.
Lithaladhwen: That's so fucking perfect.
Lithaladhwen: Her problem with the "good" traditions is that they're so concerned with eradicating evil and suffering they forget about the necessity of BALANCE. Too much good is as bad as too much evil.
PapatymisonN: Heh.
PapatymisonN: Oh. Just so you know. He won't LIKE her calling him Father.
Lithaladhwen: She'd do it to be "respectful."
Lithaladhwen: In the, "Had you considered, FATHER TYMISONN, that blahblahblah?"
Lithaladhwen: Kind of way.
PapatymisonN: Someone hasn't read the Father Lagnus RP.
Lithaladhwen: No, she hasn't. But that's what Zea would do.
Lithaladhwen: Damned Ashurans and their need for ranks.
Lithaladhwen: She doesn't have a rank, but hey. Judge a moth by the beauty of its candle, neh? Reshtaha is no less than Ashura. Some priests forget that and she is occasionally touchy about it.
PapatymisonN: Yeah. That's dumb of them.
Lithaladhwen: "Oh, sure. Protect life. Protect it until it chokes itself out because nobody dies."
Lithaladhwen: "GREAT plan. Go tell your goddess you're a dumbass. e_e"
PapatymisonN: Dae: Don't get me wrong. Death is just as important as life. We just ... love life. And it's embodiment.
PapatymisonN: Dae: IM: And the act of creating it... ^_^
Lithaladhwen: Zea: You love life. You probably like yours. That should make your job nice and easy. Your job is to get what you want. Oh, man. That must be rough.
Lithaladhwen: Zea: Sometimes you have to make tough choices because there's a bigger picture than 'Oh, life is nice.'"
PapatymisonN: Dae: You DO realize you've distilled the entirety of my faith to a four-word sentence, right?
PapatymisonN: Dae: It is a BIT more complex than that.
Lithaladhwen: Zea: Of course it is, Father Tymisonn. I did it to point out that revering life because you happen to like it doesn't take into account all of the death and suffering that make all of our lives possible. It's the balance that's necessary. I enjoy my life, too. But I understand that there are more important things than one person's happiness. Even when it comes to my own.
Lithaladhwen: Zea: There are more important things than everyone's equal opportunity to enjoy the blessings of life. Life isn't fair, but death is.
Lithaladhwen: Zea: Make sense, Father?
PapatymisonN: Dae: Yes. It does. But you are assuming that my priorities are the same as yours.
Lithaladhwen: Zea: No, I'm not. I'm saying that revering life is easy. Acting on that reverence is still hard, but it's no mental stretch to say that enjoying life is good. That protecting life is good. Of course you'd want to do both. Everyone does. Even I do.
Lithaladhwen: Zea: The difference is that sometimes it's necessary to set that aside. Everyone has to die. Accepting it is one thing. Being part of that system is quite another.
PapatymisonN: Dae: Yes. Of course, I know that. Everyone has to die. But why ponder upon the end of something so beautiful, when there will be much time to do that when it comes? We must enjoy the now, or be endlessly waiting for our last, sad breath. Trying to make that last breath as happy as possible. The sad thing is, we all die, but we do not all live.
Lithaladhwen: Zea: Do you think I spend every day moping around because someday I'll die? Of course not. I'm a human being and I enjoy my life despite being dedicated to Reshtaha. It's allowed you know, Father.
Lithaladhwen: Zea: Being aware of the end makes what you've got ever more precious, doesn't it? Doesn't it make you ever more grateful for every day you have with the people you love?
Lithaladhwen: Zea: I wake up every day knowing that I could be called to my god at any moment. Knowing that I am expected to help other people find their way there as well. You can't value life without death, and death has no value if it doesn't preserve life.
Lithaladhwen: Zea: You need both. I just think that it takes a different kind of personal sacrifice to be on the working end of death.
Lithaladhwen: Zea: As opposed to the working end of life, you understand. Big difference.
PapatymisonN: Dae: Well, that's exactly it. We need both. People working on both ends. We're both important. I am just saying... I don't understand your end. I may never. It's just... part of who I am. Just like you may never understand mine. Part of the balance, I guess.
Lithaladhwen: Zea: I guess. You need people around to protect what we all love. But you also need people who are willing to set aside that love when called upon to do so. Seems like that's where we stand.
PapatymisonN: Dae: I think that's a good place for people like us.
Lithaladhwen: Zea: *shrug* It's where we belong, and probably where we were always destined to be. No sense in resenting each other because of something like that. Each of us probably thinks we have the harder job, but in the end we're each best suited to what's laid before us, I think.
PapatymisonN: Dae: I can agree to that.
PapatymisonN: (... well isn't that special.)
Lithaladhwen: (Aw. Look. They bonded through theological argument. They're so cute.)
Lithaladhwen: (We should somehow rule that this happens. It's too much fun to be non-canonical.)
PapatymisonN: (Amen.)
PapatymisonN: (... I'll have Hak get tricked into taking her home after just barely getting to know her.)
Lithaladhwen: (Giving her a chance to argue with his father?)
PapatymisonN: (Aye.)
Lithaladhwen: (Heh. Keen. Could you email me a log of this? I need sleep. I'm getting up in four hours or so.)
PapatymisonN: *eats ()* No sweat
Lithaladhwen: Awesome. Thanks.
Lithaladhwen: I'll be gone most of tomorrow in case you post, but I'll check in later. Deal?
PapatymisonN: Deal. Go sleep.
Lithaladhwen: ^_^
